Red Bull’s top gun Max Verstappen is just that as the 2021 Formula One World Champion, despite a controversial end to the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the end result in question.

This season reminded me a lot of Nico's winning season. They both had to take the fight to Lewis.

This is getting ridiculous maybe it’s time to let Red Bull and max have this championship and focus on next year. We have all seen the rules and the race directior can override decisions in certain circumstances. I personally am glad the season didn’t end under a safety car

Most fantastic season in a long time! The last race was bad for my health but worth it. I cried when he crossed the finish line (and I am 49 years old) 😁 Over the whole season Max is the deserved World Champion. Congrats to Max! And Lewis is still an amazing driver. These two guys made this season unforgettable.

@@simbawanyika4852 Lewis wasn't robbed of his 8th crown.. He was robbed of a race while Verstappen has been robbed far more often. Not just on-track decisions but rule changes and loopholes with the regulations that Mercedes benefitted from. The last race just makes it more emotional and seems more of a 'robbery' of the season, but it was only a robbery of 4.5% of the season meanwhile Hamilton benefitted more often that even gave him the chance to fight for the championship in the final race to begin with.

I truly feel bad for Lewis, but not nearly as bad as I felt for Max in Brazil when he had dominated the season and then Lewis shows up with a clear power upgrade that he’d not had before in the season. I don’t like the way he won it, but he did deserve to win it.
I hope the media doesn't go and shroud Max's first world title as being controversial or insinuate that the title was won unfairly.
His title drive up to Abu Dhabi and until the checkered flag under green racing was outstanding and went into the final race with the most wins of all the drivers which shouldn't put doubt into anyone's mind that his win was undeserved or labelled as "Manipulated".

Toto wanted to change the order of the cars back to the previous lap. Shortening the race retroactively by one lap. That sounds unsportsmanlike behavior, that could cost Mercedes some points, let's say 50 points. Oh wait then Mercedes loses the construction title 😁. Best solution is to scrap the result of the last race and give the championship to the person at the top of the list then. Oh wait that was Max 😁.

@@simbawanyika4852 if you go on the measures of the year Max is the champion.... Max has more poles than Lewis, more race wins than Lewis (tied till the last race) has an average finish position of 1.89 vs lewis worse 2.80 and an average grid position of 2.95 vs lewis worse 3.14.
If we are totally honest the only reason Lewis even had a chance in the last race is because Merc took Max out twice this year for no points in which Lewis was able to score. If Max had scored in either of those two races Lewis wouldn't even be close and on every other measure Lewis was beaten over the course of the year.
I understand a lot of people arguing over the final race result but if you look over the course of the year which is how one measures a champion Max beat Lewis.
Even if the result in the final race played out differently and Lewis won there is no debate that Max out performed Lewis over the year and would be more a case of luck then skill that would place the crown on Lewis's head... the luck being that Mercedes took Max out of two races for no points.

Even when RBR has superior straight line speed Lewis was the better driver over the race distance. It took a rule violation by the race director to award Max a championship victory. In the words of Horner - That’s a hollow championship victory. Max had the better car and an illegal limbo wing for half the season and still Lewis matched him on points!

Max is the most exciting F1 driver i have ever seen, shame FIA gave it to him when he has the ability to win it on his own, hopefully next season the Race Director is more consistent and does not have to choose the winner. - No penalty for Lewis for ignoring double yellows in FP3.
- No penalty for Lewis for almost causing a massive collision with Mazepin in FP3
- No penalty for Lewis for almost causing a collision with Gasly.
- No penalty for Bottas for hitting Kimi in qualifying
- No penalty for Bottas for clearly breaking the rules by driving extremely slowly and holding Max up so Lewis has a bigger gap to pit in and Mercedes could double stack
- No penalty for Lewis punting into Max, while Max was trying to let him by. Lewis even downshifted with Max twice
- No penalty for Lewis for purposefully pushing Max off the track while Max was trying to let him by
- No penalty dor Lewis for hitting Ocon
- No penalty for Lewis for creating a 20 car gap on the formation lap while the rules state the gap shouldn’t be bigger than 10 cars
- No penalty for nearly causing an incident with Mazepin (would have been a 10 place grid drop)
- No penalty for completely cutting the corner and gaining a huge advantage
The FiA didn’t break any rules, that is why Mercedes has no ground to appeal, Mercedes royally messed up by not pitting Lewis.
He so deserved it with what hamilton and bottas put him through Silverstone/ Hungarian GP. Hamilton would be chasing stewards if Max farted in the car trying to get him a penalty. Well done Max you deserve it. 😎🏎

(Article 48.12)”…ANY cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car” and “…once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap”. (Definition of any: “used to refer to one or some of a thing or number of things, no matter how much or how many”)
BUT
Article 48.13 of the sporting regulations states that the message “Safety Car in this lap” is the signal that it will enter the pitlane at the end of that lap. That therefore Article 48.13 “overrides” Article 48.12
Was it a weird decision? Absolutely. Was it against the rules? Absolutely not.

Fact 1. The Great Max V. was smoked off the line by Hamilton despite his having the advantage of pole position with a softer compound.
