    Keep in mind I am pretty sure you can only put water buckets into the engine manually in creative mode, so in a survival world you will need to pump water into them manually to start them.

    • @Triobian
      @Triobian  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Ah, youre correct. I didn't realize that. well, the start up takes 4,992 su. So a mid sized windmill should be able to do the trick

    • @zelkieZack
      @zelkieZack ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Triobian How do you start it up? Do I need to pump water in using extra pumps or just provide 4,992 SU to one of the shafts in the middle?

    • @Triobian
      @Triobian  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You should just need to provide the su to any part of the machine. My bad though, I hadn't actually realized you can't pit water in the boiler directly. The fault of always building in creative I guess haha

    • @greybeardmc
      @greybeardmc ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Triobian I came here to mention that. In my (strictly survival) world, I've gotten bitten every time I need to restart it, because it doesn't pump water into it. I ended up beefing up a windmill somewhere else that runs a conveyer belt near my engine so it could also provide at least enough water for it to start.

      Apologizes about the necro on this post.
      I wanted to mention that, if you attach a Gearbox to the Gearbox beside the Rotation Speed Controller and remove the Large Cog from said Controller, it drops the su to start the machine from nearly 5k to 832‬ su.

    You can surely by proud of this steam engine block! This is so well done. I dodn't know the watering system could be done so easily with just a 3x3 with a hole in the middle water source. Or a 3x1 water source. I always did a 2x2 water source that. I also underestimated the efficency of the lava dripstone generating system. I used to take lava from the nether instead.

    • @Triobian
      @Triobian  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea lava gen is powerful, so theres no need to get external really. And thanks for saying so, it took a long time for me to make this and I tried like 2 dozen different models before I got one I found satisfactory. What do you think about my Nether Engine btw?

    I’d be interested in seeing how compact of a fully automatic tier 18 boiler you could make using the createplus mod for 1.18.2 that adds a recipe for netherrack that makes it farmable
    The recipes that createplus adds (outside of its mod compatibility ones) are actually quite interesting, like a recipe for those blocks create adds that when crushed produce a decent bit of ore. It’d be interesting to see what you could make for those

    • @Triobian
      @Triobian  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely sounds interesting!

    • @skydragonfire93
      @skydragonfire93 ปีที่แล้ว

      i mean, size would depend on what you consider part of the build. Using that datapack to create an automatic blaze cake factory is one thing, and then the self suficient T18 boiler would be rather small if you only account for belting the cakes into a buffer vault that deposits them onto a depo to get distributed by a mechanical arm. If the Blaze Cake factory isn't considered part of the engine then the engine itself could be as small as a 6x6 footprint, maye smaller depending on where you position things. If you include the blaze cake factory though, you're looking at a whole chunk at least.

  • @smjsprivate
    @smjsprivate 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sadly mechanical arms don't like options anymore, so instead, you need a smart funnel with a hopper into the depot. I can't find a way to minimize it so it sadly has to stick out

    The mechanical arm does take the bucket to fast so it stay a bucket.That means no lava bucket is filled in the blaze burner.If i switch to 80 rpm it is slow enough so the spout fills the bucket but the ooumps for the water is then to slow.How to fix?

    • @Triobian
      @Triobian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's perplexing. In all my testing the mechanical arm doesn't move at all until the bucket is filled with lava. Like with the ponder, it shouldn't try to grab or move something unless it has a valid use/output. Try breaking the arm and redoing its input and outputs

    @Cerbossa ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I seem to be running into the same problem...
    Everything works as supposed to, but the mechanical arms are too quick picking up the buckets. The spout doesn't get the chance to fill them, so it just picks up an empty bucked and immediately deposits it back into the funnel. Full circle moment...

      Works like a charm!
      For other problem-solvers:
      Change the setup by moving the spout up and putting a depot underneath, then a brass funnel under the depot and the original depot beneath the funnel. Set the funnel to only let through lava buckets, and have the mechanical arm take the filled buckets from the bottom depot, and deposit empty buckets on the top depot.

    I built this and I love the design. It'll fit right in where I need it, and 500k+ su per module is nothing to scoff at. However.... I'm having a few issues. When I fired it up, it wouldn't pull lava up from the backup tanks. I remedied this by replacing the top parts of those tanks with pipes, seems to have done the trick. But now, while the whole system is getting heat, only 3 tanks have water. The three that do are reporting 2 ticks under both space and heat, while the one that isn't getting water is reporting full ticks on space and heat. I'm still new to the mod, still learning everything, so.... Anyone know what gives? What do I need to do to get this beauty from the 200k su all the way up to the 500k beauty it's meant to be?
    If it helps, I used the schematic cannon.
    Edit: I just bandaged the problem with the 4th tank by running a dedicated pump to it. The whole system is now producing 255k. The 4th tank is now giving the same readings as the first 3... That is, level 9 with 2 ticks under on space and heat. I have no clue how to fix that as steam engines are still entirely new to me.
