I moved to Stow 36 years ago, its been much worse , if you google Stowmarket 1980's Flood you can see... the flood on the meadow by the Esso garage has often come over the whole road and flooded the now Co-op car park ...and gives Combs Ford its name , ... another great video.
I was wondering where you had got to. Since I moved to Suffolk you seem to have disappeared. I have got to know the area better and yes! I recognised Pikes Meadow!!
I'd be fascinated to know how that Wash Lane incident happened. I don't risk that even when it's dry let alone after 24 hours of rain! How did someone get it that wrong?! Great and interesting video.
We’ll, from what I can gather, it was someone unfamiliar with the area - a young driver and his first car - trying to get to Wattisham. Obviously blocked by flooding at Burford Bridge, probably redirected by satnav down Wash Lane. If you were unaware of the ford, you may understandably assume the road ran level with the footbridge, which would then appear to only be a few inches deep. Before you knew it, the car was in too deep to recover. Tragic whatever the story but glad they got out. Sometimes with everything being electric, escape is made difficult when the electric goes off.
Thank you for making this.
You’re welcome! 😀👍

@@Walksandwanders fair enough. What a mistake to make though. Similar to the under 2 month old Volvo in Combs - bet the insurance was pleased!!!
When this becomes a regular occurrence your channel shall need to be renamed “Walks and Waders”.
😂😂👍
Cleaned it up abit I’m sure
Haha Ford caught up in a flooded Ford..
