First musky was on fox chain il, hammered at a bachelor party. Got a fingerling on a micro Medusa, didn’t really tickle my fancy. Fast forward a year went out to Clair with a couple buddies and saw my friend catch a 48 boatside and immediately after that I had a mid 40 follow to the boat. No one taught me to figure 8 so I didn’t know what to do but from that moment on I’ve been hooked, few more trips with my father in law and got the itch bad, decided to empty my bank account and buy a new alumacraft, I feel like I belong in some sort of recovery support group, all jokes aside chasing musky around the country has brought me and my family so much joy and great times together being out in the wild. Best habit I ever picked up.
Has to be an awesome feeling when that first one hits the net! She was gorgeous! Good job putting Eric on those fish! I'm still working on getting my first.
I'm really surprised this content Robbie and Lee put out dose not get more attention. It's always well shot and interesting. Keep grinding, Robbie. Great stuff!
Perch fishing on deerskin creek in eagle river. 36” hit minnow on ultralight rod. I landed it. That was 30+ years ago. Been addicted ever since. Mostly vilas county and Ontario.
First ever musky a tiger that hit a perch I was reeling in while walleye fishing in the Northwoods, 8 years old. First targeted musky was on a char musky killer at daybreak, northwoods, 12 years old. Just got back into the musky game a few years ago after too much bass fishing, love the chase of the musky game.
Last year in August I had a bass jig on and caught a 41”. It was my first ever muskie and got me hooked…this year in early July got my first ever 2 muskie day a 33 and a 41” which was WAY bigger then the first 41”. This one was at least 18-20lbs
The medusa works because it looks like a squid. The large tube baits work because they look like a squid. Buck tails work because they look like a squid. It makes no sense that a fresh water fish would eat or be attracted to a lure that represents something that does not exist in their natural habitat. The apex predators we fish today in fresh water are ancestors of the salt water barracuda. Once the world was covered with sea water. Over time the water withdrew leaving inland lakes. Over time these lakes became fresh water rather than salt. The fish evolved to this change. The pike and musky are related to the barracuda who`s favorite food is squid. So it is no wonder that the squid is still in the minds of the fresh water apex predators. I bought some Savage Gear 3D squid swim baits and tried them on Lake St. Clair. I caught 14 muskies in one day using the 10 inch squid swim bait. Any bait company who might see this comment should take heed. Realistic squid lures catch lots of musky and pike! The more realistic it is, the more fish you put in the boat! Bigger would be better! 15 inch or bigger would entice those 50 inchers to bite! Money is to be made by being smart.
Eric was a happy guy. It's always fun to see someone else's joy when fishing.
Congratulations Eric, a couple beautiful musky.

Caught my first Muskie when I was 31. Caught it while bass fishing. I was hooked, I’m now 67 and muskies are still my primary quarry.
