    We run G6 blades all year long, wet or dry grass. They stay sharper longer, outlast the Chinese JD blades 3-1 and cut the clippings up much smaller than high lift blades do. They are more expensive at first but save you $ in the long run so long as you don't run into stuff and ruin them.

    I bought the gator blades, the width of the blades ended up jamming the corners into the deck curves of the deck design. I ended up grinding a circular radius at the width of the blade as well as shortening up the length slightly.

      Sounds like you might have installed the blade upside down. Try doing a 180.

    I feel like the exmark"extreme" blades (gator blades) do better in wet conditions on my ultra cut deck than the high lifts do.

    Grand Junction MI??? Heck yeah! I grew up there but setup lawncare biz this year in Holland. I have one I mow in Bangor curious if we crossed paths! Just installed gator blades to try out. I have a couple larger yards with thick grass. One looks like a hay field when done hoping these reduce that. Sweet I in Fullerton’s class as well. Nice running into you.!

    great information mate well done.Would you see permanent change to using gator blades , i am thinking regular changing of the blades to high lift and back would be a pain ..The concept of the gator blade is as you said , so on shorter grass and dry would you use a plug as well ??

      I change my blades everyday if not every other day. So for me it’s not a big deal! Even though I have mulching baffles that I can put on my mower I don’t mulch. I’m always side discharging. If you can mow frequently enough mulching is definitely the way to go. I believe there is a blade out there that is like a multi use blade. It works well for mulching and side discharging. My small toro time master has that blade in it because I’m always switching back and forth from bagging mulching and side discharging.

If I run my fingers across the blade should it not cut me-Because her farm looks crap-Due to her so called girlfriend. Yard was cutting like crap I got off and ran my thumb across the blade part of the gater teeth and it didn’t even cut me and I rubbed super hard????? I’m curious if her so called princess friend is taking advantage of my mom?????? I’m a tad bit upset. The farm always looks pristine when I cut it inwards and she screamed at me and told me to blow it outwards????? ????? WHAT R YOUR THOUGHTS!!!! Greatly appreciate your help on this????? Thank you and God Bless and Stay Safe Always. Kelly from fl

    My gators clump bad in wet grass. I use a mulch plug to keep the clippings out of my flower beds. Going to try a high lift to keep clippings from liquifying.

    • @paulk5311
      @paulk5311 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      remove the plug and you will eliminate most clumping. cut to discharge away from your flower beds and you will not need a plug.

    • @starpartyguy5605
      @starpartyguy5605 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulk5311 I tried that. I prefer the plug. Throwing it in some areas sends it into the street. And the plug can’t be taken off and replaced easily. But thanks for the suggestion.

    I have a Badbiy with a 42 inch deck on it ,AMD I cut leafs every winter. Are they better ,in your opinion?

    • @douglaslawncare2843
      @douglaslawncare2843  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All depends on what setup you’re running.
      If you’re just running them over while side discharging I’d run gator blades.
      If you’re running a shoot blocker with no mulching baffles under the mower I’d run the gator blades.
      If you have mulching baffles and a side discharge plate I’d go with regular mulching blades.
      Normal grass cutting with side discharge I’d go with high lift blades.

    Your solid bro! I just started my lawn care company and got my first customer today. The wants his clippings bagged and insists it’s the only way to go. what’s your experience?

      Out of all of my customers that I have I only bag one property. It’s a small property and I bag it with my push mower. The way that I’m set up it’s not worth my time to bag. Weekly grass cuttings with side discharging is the way to go. Your area may be different though.

    • @andrewb2111
      @andrewb2111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As you add more customers, you'll find that bagging slows you down and cuts into your earning potential at the end of the day. I have customers that insist on it as well. I upcharge $5 bucks every time I have to empty the mower bag and another $10 for every 40 gallon trash bag I have to dispose of at the end of the day. If they agree to that, then I don't mind doing it. I don't offer "fall clean ups", just inform the customer that I don't bill for fall clean up .. only the bagging and disposal. They all like that system and think they're getting it for nothing. However, you can mow about 6 times between when the leaves begin dropping and when they finish in this area. With that billing system I make more than I would doing a "clean up" and it's a whole lot less work than screwing around with just a leaf job. Just remember to blow the leaves into the yard from the perimeter landscape before you mow and again when you get done.

    • @ekoorbhtebazile
      @ekoorbhtebazile 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewb2111 nice!! So the leaf jobs end up being just about an annual deal? And I agree a “leaf cleanup” after they have all fallen is a pain in the butt. So much work! Thanks for the comprehensive comment.

    • @andrewb2111
      @andrewb2111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ekoorbhtebazile Yes it saves you work and keeps you bringing in money weekly when the grass has slowed down in the fall. Also makes spring cleanup a non issue. I also do chemical applications so when spring cleanups are a thing, I'm busy with pre-emergent. Don't have time to be messing around with leaves in the spring lol. Take care.

      Educate your customers, if you bag you’re essentially throwing away up to 25% of the nitrogen that would go back into the soil, not to mention the organic material.
