    I mulch with those Gator 3 Blades, they do well. At sharpen and balance time, a little oil along the edge you grind down will prevent rust and assure you have a keen edge when you mow in the spring. The bent up tips really thrash the clippings up a good bit.

    The G5 blades are tungsten carbide infused, as are the G6 blades....the G6 blades are wider than the G5 and G3. The G3 blades are more of an entry "Gator" blade, light duty basically for smaller mowers with less HP.
    I have the G5 blades on my Cub Cadet XT1 42" lawn tractor, they do great, and after 4 seasons mowing an acre every week I finally took them off and sharpened them. The OEM blades that were on the lawn tractor lasted a couple seasons and are still usable, but went to the G5's for better mulching capability.

    I'm going to wait until my spindles go before I get new blades and I'll probably get the gator 5... Of course we know the spindles and blades last about the same time .. I have the new s style spindles Witcher over $100 a piece.. so you know I'll put the star spindles in place of them and my blades will not be $90... If I would have known about the spindle.. I would have bought a Husqvarna...

    I have had them on my cub cadet since 2016 and coated my underside of my deck with slip plate graphite to keep grass from sticking to it . I just bought a new cub cadet 4 inch and first thing underside of deck got a coat of slip plate and new gator blades . I have over 3 acres to mow I am amazed at how many people put their blades on upside down . I have 282 hours on my 2016 and have hd problems with spindles and learned on her why sealed bearings were not getting in grease into them and bearings went dry . My spindles had grease zerk fittings and looked plenty of grease in the spindles but none was getting into the sealed bearings and Ifixit4U on youtube said take off inside seal so I am trying that because this is 3 rd set of spindles on the 2016 first set under warranty after only 20 hours . So figured that may work I kept the ol spindles and rebuilt them with new bearings inside seal removed

      Great comments. I never thought of slicking up the deck.
      Let me ask you a question. Is the upper or lower bearing failing on the spindles?

    • @sissymurphy9620
      @sissymurphy9620 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackofalltrades7822 I had that problem also and found out with the help of youtube that the grease that I put into the zerk fittings was not getting into the sealed bearins and this is after 3 failed spindles . Ifixtit4U explains it on you tube . i redid the spindles bought new bearings and took the inside seal off the bearings that face each other and put it back together . But now height is mess up on my mower deck and trying to figure that out By the way glad i saved the sspindles and looked at them because it was the same in all of them . No grease got into the sealed bearings and there was no greased left in them . It runs great now but now deck is an issue . drive belt deck belt and rebuilt spindles with greased bearings

      If you're going through so many spindles, it could be because the blades are not well balanced. Use a high quality blade balancer. (Not a nail or cone type).

    I got the Oregon Gator g3 blades like this for my cub cadet xt1 46 inch deck mower and it mows pretty good. Unfortunately it does slightly ding the deck upon engaging the PTO as I can hear the metal hitting metal, also if it’s a bump it will hit. Unsure why.

  • @philliphall5198
    @philliphall5198 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The biggest thing to me is how much dirt and dust they lift and cut is secondary
    Dry areas need just standard blade period in most yards unless you water and fertilize them heavily

    @husseinhussein4099 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Next time add the old high lift with the gator blade in a cross style and you will see way better results.

    Blades are not supposed to be razer sharp. Edge of blade should be 1/64 flat on edge. It will last longer and give a better cut. PS nice britt.

    I have a question pertaining to the gator blades, I've been having some issues with grass accumulating on the deck, I have mobility issues so it's hard for me to clean the deck, would the gator blades help discharge the clipping for efficiently? Thanks

    • @jackofalltrades7822
      @jackofalltrades7822  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have noticed that deck build up seems reduced but not eliminated. I can’t say if it is the blade design or just because they were new. I run the deck washer after each mowing build us has never been a problem for me.

    • @anguslean4058
      @anguslean4058 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the Gator Blades and also have grass clipping build up on the deck. I use my blower when I’m done and it cleans it up really nice. It’s much easier to do with the Gator Blades because the clippings are much smaller and easier to blow out.
      Also I noticed right away with the Gator blades that they pull up residual clippings from the old blades
      Took a couple of cuttings but I noticed the grass is greener and the clippings dissipate much quicker.
      Good blades

    You purchased G3 gator blades. They are reasonable but do not have enough lift, do not have a long life cutting edge, etc.
    I have G3 blades on my 1863 cub cadet. They are fine for the money. I've read and read that gator g5 blades are much better than G3s.
    I'd like to get oregon hi lift blades with the long life cutting edge. It would indeed be nice to have some g5 blades as well. Unfortunately the g3 do not eject the grass as well as they need to and really coat the deck in a thick paper mache of grass.
