Definitely. He played on the best album Oasis ever did. I think he gets a bad rap. His playing wasn’t anywhere near as bad as people have said. Owen Morris called his drumming basic but the timing was great.

@@PatchedThePipe The barras woulda been the place to see them mate. Smaller more confined venue. Unfortunately never got to see them live but I still live in hope. Never thought I'd get to see the Stone Roses but it happened for me at Hampden in 2017.
When my ex moved out she took my favourite James Bond DVD with her and left an Oasis CD in its place. When I realised what she'd done I stormed round to her house and swapped them back. After all, it's my Thunderball.
Great interview,was never interested in Oasis in the 90’s as was too immersed in the Scottish rave scene to really bother about pop music (loved the stone roses&Happy Mondays though)but find interviews like this fascinating. Loved the documentary on BBC “Road to Memphis” a few months ago with Primal Scream and Alan featured on that
I'd like to ask Alan how he went from having a fiver in London...to...opening a club called "the living room". How did that come about....where did you get funding?
Before I turned it off at the point I realised he was a friend of that arch criminal Geldof I was already thinking that myself, he said it as if you just wake up one morning and by magic youre a club owner

That's the problem with a lot of these interviews, they won't tell you the truth. He was probably selling drugs. James is too scared to ask the real questions, does not want to upset the guest.

Your interviews are so good and you seem to ask the right questions, time and time again. I have learned a lot about certain Scottish characters. My favourite must be Blink McDonald. I used to get severe headaches that I would get every 2 weeks or so. I gave up coffee and cigarettes 18 months ago and touchwood I don’t get the headaches anymore. Definitely right about coffee. It is a drug.
It’s crazy with homelessness now. I’ve been homeless before, thankfully I’ve sorted myself out now. It’s illegal to squat in private dwellings such as a house but not illegal to squat in commercial buildings. How stupid is that?? You should be able to squat anywhere as long as you respect the property and don’t wreck it. Great interview. No talking over Alan McGee just a nice flowing chat.
There's a belief that bad bacteria in your stomach affects the brain (as in mental health) and if you take pro biotics etc to get rid of the bad bacteria it has a positive impact on your mental health
