On a different note, my uncle who was a sheriff in Florida for 25 years told me that if a cop EVER takes you in for questioning, never, ever talk to them without an attorney present. It's essentially legalized robbery. It's a law where the police can determine (based on nothing but their whim) that some of your belongings have been involved in criminal activity. You aren't charged with anything, but your things are. and the money they get from Civil Forfeiture can be spent on ridiculous things like a Zamboni or a margarita machine... It’s surprising how entitled some cops in America act. here in Australia at a red light my sister checked a postal card to see where she needed to pick up a parcel, took maybe 3 seconds, a police officer pulled her over thinking she was on her phone, but realised before reaching her window that she wasn’t and apologised and they both laughed about the mistake and he let her go.

Unfortunately, there was such a case that happened here in the Philippines last Sunday, where a policeman shot his neighbors in broad daylight, mother and son (unarmed), point blank. It was over a petty argument. It was caught on video and had gone viral here. It really was such a terrible thing to happen. When I saw the actual video, I was shaking.

who cares that he is a lawyer, he could be a regular uber driver and he still has the same rights as a lawyer do,
There is a video of a New York terrorism detective verbally abusing an Uber driver and admitting that he would issue him a false court summons just to abuse him and the law, there was no legal punishment for the officer as its legal for officers to abuse driver if they are tired or under stress.
It’s a shame he even had to say that, though, and that’s the point
The reason he mentioned he's a lawyer was to tell the ignorant cops that he's aware of the law and they can't fool him, e.g if someone isn't aware of the law, they would've done what the police told them.
They have the same rights, the difference lies in the extent of law knowledge they hold

Last I checked you can be a Uber driver and still be going to school to be a lawyer.

@@QueenMizu that's true. I hadn't really thought of that. Apparently people also feel less time pressed in covid and arent settling their lawsuits so some lawyers who have cases will have to wait a long while for pay day.
It’s sad because the same thing could’ve happened to him except with him ending up in jail if cops planted drugs during the K9 search. Happens all the time.

What if the search unit is actually the one that put the drug in and accuse u for it. How does an eyes of a person serve as an evidence when they can literally frame u.
