I just got the 1400 and can't wait to install it. This video makes it SOOO much easier than using the manual. I have read the manual yes and this video explains it very well.
I just purchased my new hitch which already has the ball pre-installed. Is it safe to assume that it's already been tightened to the proper torque spec and that step is no longer needed?
Hi there, once I set up everything, before I back up my trailer at my drive way which is sloping down, which means the front of the trailer will be much lower than the back of the trailer, before I back up, shall I dispatch the sway bar off or shall I keep it on the L Pin and remove it after I set up the trailer level at my drive way? Thank you😢
Great video! Do you have any opinion on if these hitches can be used in addition to a 1/2 ton truck with rear end suspension air bags? Would it help? Hurt? Do Nothing? Thanks! James
Hi James! Using both can be a bit tricky, you'll want to set the springs up before setting up the weight distribution with the hitch. You may need to use one extra washer on the hitch setup to compensate.
Oh no! I would contact our customer service team at support@equalizerhitch.com or call them at (800) 478-5578 an they can help you figure out why you are still experiencing sway.
Where do I get the 430 ft. lbs. torque wrench,& 1 3/4” box wrench, 1 7/8 socket. I’ve not been able to find these particular tools, no one seems to these sizes?
We are sorry to hear that you have had a hard time finding the required tools for installation and would love to help you find a solution. Most local dealerships will carry the proper tools needed to install one of our hitches. We have a dealer locator function (link: www.equalizerhitch.com/find-a-dealer) on our website that can help you find a dealership near you. If you are looking to purchase your own set of tools, there are several options available and can be found with a quick online search. We have the 1-7/8" socket available for purchase direct from us either on our website, www.equalizerhitch.com/store/hitch-accessories/1-7-8-thin-walled-socket?sku=undefined or over the phone at 800-478-5578!

Glad it helped!
Should mention this should be either done with trailer fully loaded for a trip or re adjust prior to one. Nice vid though 😊
This is a great point!

You are correct! It never hurts to check the bolts after towing however.

Before you disengage your hitch, make sure you are on level ground!
When adjusting weight distribution, which is best: adding/removing washers or adjusting L-brackets?
Both are a great way to adjust your weight distribution!
Pending how ur bars look...
They should be parallel to ur trailers frame and sit flat on the pads but L brackets are the easier of the 2 to adjust.
What should the sockets be torqued to?
Between 60-100 lbs!
The measurements I got A 38, B 38 1/8, C 38.
Is this ok? Thanks. Towing with a Sierra 1500.
You should be good!
Is it safe to reverse with this installed?
It sure is! Our Equal-i-zer hitch is designed to flawlessly back up into campsites and more!
