There's a lot of little things about the presentation on this one I like. The varied fantasy motifs, the seamless stage transitions, the lighting/storm vfx on Stage 4...
Most obviously influenced Insektor-X. The ideas that this gave to Xenon 2, I think came from Salamander first anyway. But there are also hints of Battle Squadron in this game. And one enemy design which it gave to Turrican 2.
