Central Californian: Blame the costal guys.
45 miles away from all of the major cities tends to get better. Mostly.
I blame the idiots that keep voting for stupid laws and stupider people to be in charge like Gavin newsom
@altshiftM Pretty much, can be boring out here sometimes. Then I remembered I'm not in LA or San Fran, and my mood goes up.
The whole western half of America(including Canada)
“Blame the coast”
Oh yeah my mom lives in NV cause it's too expensive to live in Cali anymore. Just retired to the desert.
King Trout! Califonian here, Sadly I do have to go to LA from time to time because I am an Avid LA Kings fan but, I wanted to inform you the fried chicken smell you’re smelling funny enough is the smell of somebody free-basing Heroine, it’s a distinct BBQ chicken type smell, THE MORE YOU KNOW. 🤙🏼
Oh so that’s what it was…
Wait....really?
Yup, true story my boys.
Whhhaatttttt
Truth. I learned that recently from 'round here. It is pungent.
This is about as good as Nick's rant on communism 🤣
Oh nothing beats those. And as a Hungarian born before the Berlin wall fell, Nick and I could do a hate-off.
Which one? He has several.
That is more educational. This was just funny.
Native New Mexican here, and essentially it has the same problem as California: gorgeous places to be, terrible policies.
New mexico and gorgeous are things that should never be spoken in the same sentence. EVER! Place is a shit hole with no beauty or enchantment. People are dumb as shit, worst most oblivious drivers I've ever driven with on the same road.
It's a myth that most homeless are just poor down on their luck brilliant go-getters. Most homeless are homeless for very good reasons.
Unfortunately there's not normally a bureaucratic solution that will fix it.
Prior Kalifornian’s perspective; It’s the greatest state to look at in pictures and the absolute worst to live in. Crime, taxes, corruption, homelessness, drugs and finish it off with obscene cost of living. Leaving is the only option for the sane.
you just described canada lol
As far as places with Californians in California go, thank God for small towns like Temecula for having normal people there
Are you high on your own meth supply
EYOOO!!! Love Temecula, Corona here. #ChadBiancoForGovernor 🎉
As a Native Temeculan, I approve this message.
YOU FOOL, don't tell them where the good places are if you want them to stay good
@@SLAPNTZ_MCCOY It's no big city for them to infest like flies on shit, they're pretty safe in that regard
Now you Texans know how us Utahans feel about Californians invading your state. We've been dealing with them coming here since the late 80's.
Californian here, I remember when Newsom came to my HS to talk to Gov-Econ students, and even then we knew he was full of it. The man just gave an icky vibe off
I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the west coast of North America, and we have a homeless problem. It's not as big as LA, but it's significant and has been steadily growing for years. There are many theories about why this is happening, such as housing being too expensive or other provinces potentially redirecting their homeless population to BC. What actions can we take? I don't want to leave British Columbia; I enjoy living in Canada. However, if I have to leave, I'm unsure about what to do. By the way, I enjoy listening to your podcast. Keep up the great work
How about Kamloops?
Apparently in California the homeless problem is being treated as a “business” where the state gives money to certain entities to fix the problem.. but the problems only get worse while members in the organizations make north of 6 figs.
Could be happening in Canada I live in Washington state, and Seattle is quite similar to LA
@@ChristianStout I'd love to live in Kamloops, but unfortunately it's just as expensive as the lower mainland and I kind of think really ahead so moving is like I got to move somewhere where I can get a job that pays well and I'm close to places like grocery stores and hospitals and all that stuff. Maybe one day I can move that way, but right now I'm really thinking about maybe just moving to another big city in Canada like Calgary
@@MEGAbrandon281 I think homelessness has become an industry where City officials make money off of. I agree with you 100%
All problems are big business for politicians . It's literally their stock in trade and their whole reason for living .
There is no situation so bad they cannot make it worse .
If a problem does not exist , just give them a moment , and they will create one for you .
It's who they are and what they do .
"birds with garbage" broke Nic 😂
5:20 As a Californian, this is accurate. *THIS HOWEVER,* 5:26 is too accurate
"La is a third world country"
As a Californian myself, can agree
I am a firm believer that you need to live somewhere where at least two weeks out of the year, you walk outside and audibly say, "Fuck this sucks." Either extreme hot or cold or storms. It builds character and prevents the weakness of Californians.
I went to Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC about 15 years ago. It shocked me how run down those cities were especially near big tourist destinations like the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. Or around Fort McHenry, but the worst was when I went to see the Battleship New Jersey next to the Philadelphia Aquarium in Trenton New Jersey. It didn’t even seem real. There is this nice park, and aquarium. Then across the street was a third world country. It literally looked like a zombie apocalypse struck in the 70-80’s and mother nature was reclaiming the dilapidated buildings, crumbling streets, and piles of trash that the wind had blown into 12ft drifts.
In the summertime in downtown LA, the smell from Skid Row intensifies so much, omg! It's like walking into a wall of piss and shit. The stench just slaps you in the face. 🤦♂️
Anyone who did not abandon their homes and walk out of California with what they could carry, will get what they get, and the world will not care.
I say we conquer it.. give it back to the people
I lived in San Diego from 2007 til Christmas 2013. Such an awesome place. Not many places in the world that you can surf in the morning, go snowboarding in the afternoon, and go party out in the desert at night. I started to realize how messed up it was when I went to try and buy a gun and the prices were outrageous, rounds were limited to 10 rounds and the guy handed me a questionnaire and I would have to wait 30 days to actually get my pistol, of course that is if someone in the government approves me getting a gun. I am originally from Italy and California was as bad if not worse when it comes to gun ownership, and they don't have a 2nd amendment in Italy. I started to realize how messed up it was when I registered my car and it was 4 times what it cost back east to register my car for a year; all the taxes I paid on food(the dumbest one being the recycling tax), on food ffs; oh and my house got broken into, they beat the shit outta my dog and stole everything, even the food(the little I could afford) out of my fridge. I moved back to Virginia and you couldn't pay me a million dollars to even visit California. Only states out there that i would live in are Arizona and Wyoming.
Nah, the Commifornians are invading AZ, best stay away. I say this as a native. I call Phoenix east L.A.
As someone who was stationed in Southern California for 4 years, I have a difference of opinion.
Sure there are some neat places to see and its interesting to see a desert climate and this goes for Arizona and New Mexico too as I had to drive through them to get back to God's Country. However, because of said desert climate, every plant and foliage is half green to yellow and brown, barely hanging on to life because it hardly rains there. Also, there is alot of empty space and baron wasteland. The last time I was there and they got a record break in rainfall, oh the foliage was almost as green as it wqs supposed to be singing with life and beauty. The only time you see the green is if it is regularly watered by the city or if you live in those nice houses where they have grass to water. California and I believe Arizona and New Mexico as well also have a water rationing problem and have hiked up water use cost because of it. You think it doesn't get hot in a desert climate like those states? I'll take my Southern humid heat over that any day. Sure, sometimes the humidity is low around the coastal area on average, but it gets hot regardless. You will sweat. California: overcrowded, overpriced, overhyped. Alot of people, not enough houses. You want a house with property where you don't want to be 6 feet from your neighbors? You are paying a mansion price tag. Rent on average is $2000 or more for a studio apartment. Homeless people run rampant using the toilet in front of people in places like LA. Streets are dirty and trashed, and alot of the roads are so poor it will cost you more tires. Daily occurence without fail crawling traffic on a 4 lane highway, the I-5, which is the main north and south highway. People drive like they are the only ones on the road and tailgate and never use their blinker and never let you over. Rated the worst state to drive in. You think they would get a clue having multiple wrecks daily on the road. Finding decent relationships like friends or dates is a shot in the abyss because they are shallow and care about partying and money. If you are a foreigner, you get handouts and treated better. If you are not Caucasian or African American decent, you are treated better in alot of cases and ways. Oh the list goes on and on.
It was not like I was in America, but it was like being in another country.
I didn't get to see alot of things like sea world, Lego land and Yosemite. However, that would not bother me a bit if I never go back.
Objectively and Subjectively, it is the worst state in America that isn't part of America. There are prettier and better places out there. I promise there is no need to lose sleep over not seeing California.
I rest my case. If you read all this, thank you for reading and I hope it was informative.
New Jersey is called the Garden State and yet has the stigma of being smelly. Go figure.
Must be the fertilizer ?
You can't help people who doesn't wanna helped
Lived 52 years in LA. Trout has perfectly described the city. The weed thing is sort of new since it was largely decriminalized a few years back. Skid Row is kind of the worst place, but it's all pretty bad.
A significant proportion of those homeless people are not from California. Just sayin.
You couldn't pay me enough to live in California.
Regardless of your politics, Soros happened that really made sure the decline was that extreme
As someone who lived in LA County up until recently, saying skid row is the pinnacle of Californian society is the most accurate shit ever. I’m so glad I’m out of that shithole of a state
LA is literally the Raider faction form Fallout
At least y'all didn't have to go to San Francisco ugh fucking traffic everywhere
It’s called the Philly Fent Lean
Gavin Newsom sucks, and I sent him this clip
As a Californian, we feel the same way you do Trout 😢
As a Texan I pity yall.
@@radicalgremlin6440 thanks brother, but I do have to say there are places in California that aren’t as bad as people make it out to be, I think if you guys ever visited Cali for whatever reason you guys would love places like Norco and Temecula, or even up north in Modesto. Just not Los Angeles or San Francisco, please stay away from those areas, they’re shit
@@raid6725is Fresno bad?
@@AppalachianRailfan99 Eh, depends on which part you go in, used to be beautiful like San Fran
@@raid6725 my cousin lives in phoenix so I might go over to Cali when I visit her, what do you recommend I get at In-N-Out
As someone who lives in California. I do not claim LA as THE Californication experience.
Live in orange county and it's NO WHERE NEAR as bad as California.
Doesn't help other states ship their homeless here.
"I start shaking a little bit" . . . withdrawals.
I noticed it too
If Northern California could become its own state and all I’d move there so quickly
Pretty much the whole I-5 corridor all the way to Blaine WA. Get 30-40 miles away from I-5 and people are more normal.
I don´t like zombie movies but it sounds that casting would be a lot easier today compared the 2010s when they made most of them.
As a native Californian, we don’t claim Newsom, even when I politically lean left this year, I don’t support Newsom. You stay anywhere along the coastline that isn’t LA or SF, it’s beautiful, San Diego in particular is amazing
I just got back from California, and that bit abt LA is ACCURATE. Like outside of a few wealthy areas, LA is a craphole.
In the words of HLC’s USA persona: “California, you are the pinnacle of the deterioration of society in this country”
You know it’s actually funny that he talks about California that way because people from Columbia almost say the exact same thing about Columbia. They say when God made Columbia, he sought to make the most beautiful place in the world and he did and then he decided he had to fill it with the most evil men that have ever existed.
Place needs evaporated really
Liberal Gov. And mindless complacency.
I was born and raised in LA I worked on skid row with the homeless for 2 years and I can confidently say that LA is the way it is because of people that weren't born and raised in LA every other state sends their societal rejects to LA
I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for 5 years and always said that California would be amazing if it weren't for he Californians!
I lived in LA during the 1990's It is no longer that place.
That's the thing about getting free shit.
You don't appreciate it. You don't respect it and you trash it.
my family calls those hobo nests!
looking forward to watching the full podcast this afternoon!
California is basically the whole country of India in one state.
Central Floridian Here, I have nothing to add to this conversation
I escaped 10 years ago. Glad I did. All the guns, fish, and deer a guy could want.
Our brains get fried in the summer
Fffrreeeeee stuuuuffff
You guys are in San Antonio which is a great place and I love but it's got a homeless problem too. Again awesome place but man I've seen some wild shit down there.
Someone call Zorro!
Liberalism
I gotta agreed, if we didn't have family in San Diego there is Nooooo reason to cross the mountains
My uncle found a homeless man sleeping in the back of his truck when he woke up in the morning to go to work (He's an hour drive away from LA).
Dad was stationed at VBerg in 67-68.I was just a wee feller at the time but even so I remember how AB SO LUTE LY beautiful the country was.A hot day was 80 degrees F and practically no flying insects,so you could leave the windows open.Kinda like to go back but I'm sure I'd just be pissed off.So sad.
Fentanese yoga
I lived a couple of blocks from skid row and have lived in LA for about 20 years its a shithole that whys i finally left, everything he said honestly is pretty tame but yea thats what you can expect only thing I like was how cheap and abundant the weed is
Communism is what happened to L.A.
Exactly! Every time I say this I’m convinced they’re looking at me like I’m saying the moon is made out of cheese.
There was so many homeless ive seen on the west coast Seattle LA San Francisco seen a couple in napa but nothing in Calistoga or st helena
The flora is great. The fana really sucks!!!
My personal favorite name for it is the Philly fold
DTLA born and raised, College at Humboldt State University, Stationed in San Diego in the End of My Navy Career, It gets alot better once you get past Mendocino and out of central California.
Also I live in Texas now
I gotta go to work but I can’t wait to watch the whole episode
so i notice brandon isn't there is he at a Dollar Tree in Texas? is this what him and matt gaetz do for fun now? that woman is suing because he's stained her shirt with the white sticky stuff 3 times now
Love Brandon but he’s gotta dump Matt as a friend that guy is shady af
Lex Luthor had the right idea.
It’s called newsome
They call it nodding
The ginger (sorry I don't know his name) lagitamitly sounds like the 1st mate from the movie Down Pariscope. The little short guy with the black mustache that's always yelling.
You talking about the XO played by Rob Schneider?
@@davehollis7452 yes!
I can see that.
The problem with living in paradise is that it makes you stop working for your own improvement and the betterment of your own situation.
Human beings are not capable of living without struggle, which is why when things are good they begin to cause their own problems to complain about.
Life didn't give us lemons. Humans largely created them through various early early cultivation ideas. This probably explains why the drama-infested, self-aggrandizing, mentally unhinged California is the leader of lemon production in the USA.
No and no, the buildings were owned by Chinese developers. They abandoned the those projects. Yeah it is not the greatest place to work or live, but where the fuck is? I
does that awful stuff span across a large part of L.A or is it a small area.... i have been saving to go on holiday there... kinda thinking west Virginia or Utah would be better now.
Probably don't west VA. But yeah Cali is shit. 100%.
West Virginia is beautiful! I recommend Pipestem Resort State Park. You’re pretty much in the WV part of the smokies.
@@roefane2258 i appreciate the recommendation, is that a rural type area with towns and villages or is it more city?
@@Bank_of_Bullets it’s pretty rural. I just looked it up again to make sure I wasn’t misremembering but it’s one road in and out. But pipestem is also smushed in between about 3 other state parks too. And it’s a 25 minute drive to get back to the highway, which sounds not rural, but with the mountains it throws off everything. Theres also camping and some historic stuff nearby.
@@roefane2258 sounds like a good place to go if i dont, it will be on my list of places to visit for sure. thank you.
Socialism be like:
Hey, Trout, as a guy with an honest-to-god learning disability, I give you an unlimited R-word pass. Continue to use it well.
Native Californian, born and raised. You cannot possibly take a 10 minute drive down Skid Row and immediately blanket the whole state as a shit hole. There are good areas of Los Angeles, lots of good areas in San Diego where I’m from, good areas in the bay, etc. etc. Downtown Los Angeles is the worst place to take someone because it has always, and will always be a total shit hole.
My friend, I know there are likely good parts of that god forsaken state, but those are overshadowed by the hell hole the rest of the state is. Sadly, I feel at least the point needs to be scorched earth and start over.
@@radicalgremlin6440the state is amazing, it’s legit just LA and SF that ruin the entire place. As soon as youre outside those big cities it’s the best state by far, coming from Orange County
As a Californian, i can positively say that this dude has seen skid row and anything else described more times than I have. Never. Yeah, a few blocks in LA, that's 700 fuckin' miles from me IN California (Northern) has no affect on me. But apparently it affects A LOT of people who don't even live here. Where do people think a lot of these people come from? Because a lot of em aren't from Cali. Lol.....
Isn’t the Arm Art kinda the human canvas of graffiti?
California is is home to fort Irwin the worst duty’s station in the army. The weather is either 120 degrees or cold and windy. And the nearest nice town is 2 hours from post. The nearest town to the base is Barstow and it’s slightly better than LA because the crackheads aren’t as violent lol. California could fall of the the continental us tomorrow and nothing would make me happier
The Minorities did it.
As a californian i cant say hes wrong
First one! ☝️
LA native born and raised. Lived here my entire life. For sure there are issues here, but this little rant 100% sounds like it's not entirely from an objective viewpoint. Sounds very skewed by other factors.
No dude your state literally sucks balls, objectively sucks balls
Can you guys get some moderates in? Cause I’m hoping Idaho can
Huston isn’t all of Texas. You know this, but still you think LA is all of California.
1st world is the U.S. and NATO. The 2nd world is the USSR and its allies. The 3rd world is everywhere else. Everything in the U.S. is the damn 1st world. With how worked up you get over communism apologists saying, “that’s not real communism”, you’d think accurately representing capitalism would be a priority 🤷♂️. I love it, I’ve benefited from it my whole life, F&@k communism! But this is it, America 🇺🇸 the shining city on a hill, capitalisms capital, the 1st world; both in your rural conservative paradise, and in downtown LA. Stop putting us on different sides.
Nope. California has been socialism lite. For decades.
