That was as nail biting as any action movie. Both birds are Ariel acrobats. But gotta hand it to the pigeon. Great video! Hawks are nightmares for pigeon fanciers; I saw something very similar when a cooper hawk chased a top quality high flyer for a few minutes and every single one of us were petrified and praying that this bird could escape the chase; it would have made a very good action video clip the way this very young bird escaped the claws of the hawk by quick maneuvers . It did not take more than 2 minutes but for us as if it was half an hour. We decided to use this one for breeding as it proved capable of saving himself from the number one enemy out there.
Exactly hence why I release my birds with hawk season if the bird gets caught it wasn’t fast enough or smart enough so it shouldn’t carry it’s offsprings as easy meals I only pick the fastest strongest birds so they can compete with competition and other birds 🦅

Not a hawk, a falcon. Notice the lanky pointed wings, the rapid wing beats, the amazing agility. My neighbour had racing pigeons years ago. He had them out training one day when a peregrine falcon tried to catch one of the neighbours' birds. Anyway the falcon drops in from way above the training flock and singles out one pigeon. The pigeon immediately heads down as fast as it could with the falcon in hot pursuit. The pigeon travelling at massive speed flew right through a closed glass window, punching a dinner plate size hole in the glass. The neighbour found the pigeon walking around in the room where the window was without a feather out of place.
