    I've been installing Christmas lights on my home for years and I always get compliments from friends and neighbors. I've learned a lot throughout the years so a few years ago I made a video sharing how I hang my lights. Based on some of the questions asked in the comments section of that video, I decided to make a follow up video showing some additional tips and tricks.

    Thank you for showing how you put the lights up with the gaps. I have a single story house with a split roof line but wanted to have them light up like they were two separate strands. Appreciate the tip! Can't believe I didn't think of just unplugging the lights that would show up in the gap.

    Do you have any tips on how to put lights on the side of the walls to kinda have that full outline of lights? That would be awesome :)

      They sell brick clips you can use if you have scratch grout. I don’t so I can’t use them.

    Thank you for the video. We have extension cords made for outdoor use. My husband typically wraps the connections on the cords with tape due to heavy rain in our area. Is this something he needs to do?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn’t a down side to wrapping them but I don’t think it’s necessary.

      @@TightWadDIY Thank you. I’ll go let him know right now. It’s suppose to rain and we’re new to this. He’s like I have to wrap everything and I’m thinking no you don’t but I’m not sure. 😆

    I thought leaning the ladder against the shingles was safer than on the gutter?

    How do you complete the triangles on your roof without the additional bulbs overlapping? i use LED lights and dont thing i can remove bulbs. i also dont have gutters so i cant hide the strand there. Any tips?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the reason I don’t use LED strands. I don’t know of a good way to hide them when using non removable bulbs.

    So on the top window did you just remove bulbs till the next part?

      Yes. That is why I like the screw in bulbs.

    Thank you for the tips. Love the name of your channel pretty funny and suits me very well at times. Anyway my question is:
    Is it safe to take the light bulbs out where you don’t need them during a rainy/snowy day(s)?
    I’m assuming you start hanging the lights from the outlet your using for your lights right?
    Hope you can answer those questions or anybody as this is my first home and obviously first Christmas and want to do the best I can.
    Thank you.

      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad you like the name. Some people consider being called a tightwad an insult but I take it as a compliment.
      It’s perfectly fine to remove the unneeded bulbs. Starting where your outlet is would be a good idea. I changed my set up several times the first few years until I got it just right.

      Thanks for the info. BTW I call my self Baller in a Budget when I’m saving money my wife gets annoyed by it says I’m just a tightwad! She’s jealous of my street name. Lol. Subscribed and will look forward for more DIY tips. Happy thanksgiving and Merry Christmas y’all.

    What do you do when you fall short say 1meter? Or its to long I would love more info on that 🙂😎🤙

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is really nothing you can do when you are short except add another stringer. When you are too long, you just remove the bulbs.

    How many feet of lights for your house?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      400 ft on the house and 200 on the ground.
