Y' see, here's the thing. I discovered the magic of "HENthusiasm" only quite recently. And, when there are no new videos/vlogs, call them what you will, I trawl for ones I will have missed, like THIS one. As a native Scot (who has not yet been to the islands) it does my old Caledonian heart good to see somebody get so emotional about the beauty of the place as Henry clearly was doing here. H.T. one day, things will get back to normal on planet Earth and hopefully one day our paths will cross and I can shake you by the hand for bringing such enjoyment and entertainment and sharing invaluable photographic knowledge here. Every time I watch one of your videos I am inspired to try some of the things you show us.
I agree whole heartedly with many of my fellow subscribers here, your enthusiasm is palpable and you are an inspiration to us all. This is one of your best videos to date and you clearly show us what landscape photography is all about. There were several moments during this fabulous video where you were quite clearly close to tears and unable to express yourself. I'm sure know one would have criticised you if you had let your emotions fully show. These north western areas of the British isles are phenomenal places to visit and it is sometimes very hard to believe that you are standing somewhere you have always wanted to visit; it's a privilage. I spent a week in April with my wife in the Isles of Skye last year. What a beautiful place to be; I didn't want the holiday to end. One of the best experiences was sitting and waiting for the light at Neist point. Unlike your experience there on Luskentyre beech, there must have been 50 other photographers up there on the cliffs, each with their own unique perspective of the image they wanted to create; the atmosphere was electric. My wife has never really understood my love of landscape photography; "it's a bit of a faff isn't it' until that moment that is, when the sun kissed the earth and everything in the view finder changed. The cliffs glowed and 50 or more camera shutters were instantly and incessantly triggered. She gets it now. Cheers mate, keep up the fab photography work, you moved an old man to tears.
Out of all the photographers that I follow on social media, you Henry are by far and away my favourite. Your genuine, down to earth and enthusiastic attitude along with your absolute passion for landscape photography is just so captivating and inspiring to a new photographer, like myself. Your work is stunning and I can only hope that I am half as good as you some day. So glad I found your TH-cam channel!
It’s for videos exactly like this Henry why 1000s of people follow you. Enthusiasm, positivity and inspiration. Brilliant photos to boot. I’ll start saving for another Ltd edition 👍
Wow . You are one lucky guy . I hope you put your gear down at some point , sat and took it all in . The beauty of it all brought a tear to my eye . Your images are stunning and capture the island at it's best . Can't wait for your next vlog . See you Sunday.
I am glad you appreciated the Isles. I lived up there for years and its very hard to describe how stunning the wildness is. Its not just a cliff and a beach and a moor - there is a desolate untamed spirit about the place that makes you want to just sit down in silence and soak it all in. I just bought a Nikon z7 and am toying with the idea of going back up to Stornoway for a photo trip again soon!
It's nice to see a photographer not using incredibly expensive cameras and lenses and not in locations that are half way around the world and being so enthusiastic about what is available and making the most of it. More my level than some of the the better known photographers.
Glad to see your excitement about being there. I'm from Missouri and my main focus on the isle was the abandoned houses and the Callinish Standing Stones. After being home I seen great landscape locations that I missed. The very northern tip for example. I would like to return someday.
Blimey Henry! You had me tearing up there young man! Such passion, such enthusiasm, such an outstanding achievement. Bet it surpassed your wildest dreams eh? You really can't go far wrong in my adopted country of Scotland. Very emotional video and I love you a bit more for it 💗
What stunning set of shots especially the first one on luskentyre beach, it was emotional for me as well, we live in a beautiful country, from John o' Groats to Penzance and thanks to you mate we get to see it in all its glory.
Nice trip Henry! My absolute favourite by some margin is the last image at the first beach with the lovely sand colour as foreground and the natural leading lines. Nice colour contrast with the rock too. John
Henry, very nice video and images. Glad I found you. I related to your pilgrimage title because I too made a pilgrimage to the Outer Hebrides years ago. Coming over from the States, I was able to stay a little over a week and visited most of the islands. Was following a bit in the footsteps of Paul Strand (Tir A' Mhurain) if you're familiar with his work from many years ago. It was a great trip, (shot all on large format, btw) and watching your video brought back so many fond memories. (I loved riding on those ferry boats between the islands so thanks for that bit of footage) Now on to see the other episode(s) of your trip there.
Walked the length of the Outer Hebrides last May with my Camera ... Luskentyre does stand out, but the light .. sunset sunrises and even during daytime .. combined with sky and sea colours .... Mind Blown
Henry, I just happened upon your Lewis and Harris video. I am definitely envious. A few years ago I was bouncing around Scotland and spent time on Skype with intent to get over to Lewis. The day I'd booked the ferry the forecast was dreadful so I cancelled. At the time I thought it a mistake. Now I am convinced. And once travel gets easier again I intend another visit. Thanks so much for adding more inspiration. You have really ramped up my desire to return. And now with a growing list of locations to shoot. Thank you!
Just wanted to add another thought. You described exactly the feeling I often have after capturing a long desired image from a location. I saw someone else commented on the joy and excitement conveyed in your videos. I absolutely concur. You rekindle a lot of memories from past photo excursions. Thank you much, Henry for sharing!
He glad I followed you from the very start you just get better and better in what you do photographically with your genuine enthusiasm love these photos
Superb mate. Really enjoyed watching that! Images were stunning. Harris has been on my hit list for years. Dying to go asap after watching and viewing your images. Thanks for making 👍 Graham
Its a stunning place and some day I hope to get back with my photography head on. The last time was on the motorbike so limited space for gear, just some snaps to remember the trip with.
Mate I’ve said it before but you’re videos are a true inspiration. Recently really getting into my photography and your videos make me wanna do more. I try and get up to Scotland twice a year, I was there last month and ended up on mull for a few days. I too got emotional when I was stood looking out to north and south uist from the north coast of Mull. It’s a special place. Keep up the great work mate, your class.
Just found your videos and am binge watching from the Philippines. I used to live just outside tarbert on Harris. I miss that place so much. I used to make my living selling prints in the galleries up there. Stunning location. Hope you enjoyed it.
iv done them all buddy , i really like wester ross and sutherland ..iv kayaked the west coast ..now thats an adventure and a half .in fact its countless adventures ..
What a great video Henry. I have never made it to the outer islands but watching your video definitely makes me want to be there. Difficult to pick a favourite photo from that set of stunning images. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful video. Images are amazing. Being Irish I'm partial to the stormy vibe (because we get so much of it), but that location looks like it would be amazing in any weather. If you ever plan on doing a workshop up there I'd happily make the 13 hour drive from Dublin ✌️
Fantastic - thank you!!!! I find it baffling that anybody gives a marvellous, passionate and moving video like this a thumbs down...takes all sorts I suppose.
Another fantastic video Henry. Such amazing passion and an a addictive hunger for your craft, this as all your videos gets a massive thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I always look forward to your video releases, thank you! Love love love the image @ 10.26 😁
In these dark times what can i say, thanks mate you have cheered me up to see you so happy on your passion. Right i'm off out, i have the week off and in Germany you are allowed to get out on your own in these sad days. A Landscape Photographers dream, and i have your passion in my heart to keep me going. Keep it coming please.
Smashing video Henry. I also love it in the western isles. There is a fantastic spot on the Isle of Iona called the spouting cave where, if the conditions are right the waves can be thrown about 30 feet in the air! Spectacular. Looking forwards to Sunday.
Wow that was fantastic. Straight into my saved videos. I only discovered you a week ago but I'm hooked. Your enthusiasm and passion shines through and is totally infectious. Especially in this film. I could see from your face and the way you spoke about it just how much this trip meant to you. I even got a bit emotional watching you on Luskentyre. My sort of photography. Brilliant work Henry. You're a star. Buzzing!
Thanks so much Dom, I really appreciate your kind words and I'm delighted you can share in my passion! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, Stay safe.
Wonderful seeing you so excited. You seem more enthusiastic about your photography since returning from Germany, and this trip topped the lot. Have never been there, but like many after watching this it's on the bucket list. Glad you got there Matey.
I heard of this species which appears in the first minutes of the video. It's called "speechless Henry". 😅 If I wouldn't enjoy your videos, I wouldn't come back here over and over again. 10:14 and 12:58 Excellent examples of how drastically the weather can change a location, aren't they? Therefore: know your forecast! Well, at least it doesn't hurt to know it. I think this is probably the video in which you search for words the most so far. 🤔 And that's fine, I totally can understand why. 😍👍
Yep, Scotland.... Stunning place! Another passionate & generating my enthusiasm... ND / polarising...... So: do you put ND in front or behind polarising filter?
They are stunning locations, but I have rarely seen images that capture the true beauty you experience when there in person. Yours are as close as I have seen to achieving that. Keep up the stunning work.
Gorgeous place ,i was the same when i was there but after a couple o days the weather deteriorated and whe decided to come home, twas gutted.I stayed at the cottege just up from the beach, excellent place and wonderful hosts would recommend it to anyone.Luskentyre is a beach Paradise absolutely spectacular as is the the rest of the islands that i saw,Twas just over 1 year ago we were there...AWESOME....
Nice one Henry, as a scot I am a wee bit embarrassed to say that I have never been to Harris, that was supposed to be remedied this week, I had been looking forward to taking a 5 day trip there starting Monday but the current crisis has thrown a spanner in the works as the next few months look very ropey indeed for me as a self employed taxi driver. Never mind , I will rearrange for September and hope that this blows over by then. nice photos and beautiful light on the beach, look forward to your next vid to see where you go , hope you continue to get nice light and enjoy the rest of your trip.
Thank you Henry so much for this video. I had exactly the same feelings, when i was there last year. Its such a magical Place and especially Luskentyre Beach it was the best place i visited in my life. I continued down to Barra with my camera and just by myself...it changed everything. I will always go back. I think about this at least once a day.
This video is so inspiring! I wish I was there right now! Love the images you took, especially the one at 19:45, and also the stormy pictures! Been to the coast myself Monday, here in Holland, and I had a great afternoon, but it's nothing compared to that!
Awesome video Henry, some fantastic Shots as well. As always love the enthusiasm and passion you put into it. Love your videos, Keep up with it and don't ever stop,
Hi Henry, what an excellent vlog. Your passion for photography and the location really came across. I am currently researching the Isle of Harris for my photography adventure in October. Driving up and sleeping in my estate car. I hope I can get images as good as yours.
What a location 😍 Very enjoyable vlog Henry and I'm really pleased that you got to go. The wild weather is something that makes me want to visit... love it.
Arghhhhh! Super jealous, especially as I was supposed to be going there next week Had it all panned, hotels booked and locations almost decided.... Decided to cancel due to the various issues relating to COVID. Gutted... Thanks for the video, you made me even more determined to go as soon as possible!
Dude, You have just bought a tear to my eye in the first min of this video, as you know i follow you on here and instagram and you really do inspire me to get out more ( anxiety sucks sometimes) and i've a trip to Skye in Oct with a friend and i can't wait.. Much love fella x
Keep it up man. Great job you make... There is a lot you can learn from those stories about photography, but it can also be concluded that you are talking from the soul to photography.
This place is number 1 on my dream location list , and no doubt I will be feeling the same, thanks for sharing looking forward to the second episode of your trip. keep up the good work.
So happy for you Henry! Looks like a beautiful place to go with a camera. I love the shot when you were right down on the sand. Stay safe on your travels!
Henry great vlog and photos. Keep going, I'm living victoriously through you. I'm an American living in Germany and my organization NO TRAVEL at all. Work from home. So keep going but be safe
I spent a week one New Year with my wife on South Harris, the weather was pretty appalling but I was out most days taking photographs, back home on photoshop I kept telling myself the colours were not real, but seeing your images, some of them are just the same 19:43 being a prime example so I'm glad to see my processing was not at fault.
Live in Glasgow and worked a few times in Stornoway, one of the times there we had some time to kill and thought it would be criminal not to explore the island. The beaches just blew me away, such beauty and tranquility. Those days exploring the island had a profound effect on me. My first trip to Luskentyre beach had me saying to myself, I'll be back, while I was still standing there. Found a wee cracking beach cove right beside the butt of Lewis lighthouse (might be called Port Stoth) it's about a few hundred yards just outside the car park. Garry beach and Tolsta beach (right beside each other) on Lewis were also crackers. Love that island ❤️
Wow the passion and the emotion in this one is raw, and i'm not talking about the images Henry! This surely has to be right up there as this vlog is so so powerful loved every minute of it mate a credit to you !

Thanks a lot Bruce
Really felt your emotion and excitement in this one. Congrats Henry, making it to a bucket list photo destination is huge.
Wonderful video! Great pics. Thanks. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you Kristján and cheers for watching!!
Fantastic video. So nice to see you “buzzing”
Thanks a lot!
