I really respect the humility shown in this one, man. Love your content, very relatable to I think a lot of us! Way to get out there and hope you have a killer ride in Leadville!

*** 11:30 You said it "Not really a mountain bike race" That's what you get when promoters design the course and not racers. Somehow I'm glad I've missed it all these years.

Man, your narration brought back so many memories of races gone by. I raced about 80 races in Colorado over my first decade living here and felt like I paced really well, about three times. Most of those races were between 7,000 and 12,000 feet. That's how hard pacing at elevation is for those of us who work full time and attempt to do this stuff. It was the "races" I went into not caring about results and only wanting to pace well, that went well for me. The rest were complete suffer-tests. Good luck at Leadville 100.

Nice one, Bruce. Humility is indeed something money can not buy. Appreciate the candor

Yo Bruce! Fantastic capture and narration. Silver rush is no joke, and you perfectly conveyed the inner devil on the shoulder egging us on. I've run it twice and ego got me just the same way. I hit 31 miles and had to sit down and question my life choices. Good luck at the 100.

Great video Bruce! Glad I got to catch up with you at the finish. I also paid for a too fast start, additionally I think i struggled with my hydration a bit out from printer boy and back. I did enjoy that long downhill tho, glad you managed to get some footage of me on that, you always wonder what you actually look like!

I’ve learned way more when I mess up or “fail” than when I succeed. Some lessons you only need to learn once, then you’re good.

Hello from the old enduro days, Bruce! Huge props for the honesty and transparency here, ego can so easily torpedo race results (and enjoyment)!

That looks fun! I've definitely bonked out before and know that feeling. I rode a portion of the SR50 a few years ago and it remember it as beautiful, but tough, chunky trail.

nice video - well done. i was there that day and it's good to hear you say how hard it was. it humbled me for sure. did well during the race but after felt worse than i have after any ride ever - cramps, headache, fatigue, nausea. the altitude is no joke. good luck at LT100 - i'll be there as well. i think this was good prep.

It looked like Grant was your🥕 keep doing what you're doing and I think the main thing is to embrace the pain and use that as a stepping stone for the Leadville. Keep up the good work Buddy👍🏻

If you’re still planning on tenting it at Leadville, you do not want to be cold all night! That makes for achy stiff muscles. Do yourself a favor and get 3 sleep bags. Lay one unzipped and flat on your sleep pad or air mattress. Use the other 2 bags ,also unzipped , as blankets. Helps to have bags long enough to cover head to toe and rated 20deg or better.

During my first Leadville I was walking up Clavicle hill at about 65 miles and I noticed the man in front of me had a prosthetic leg. Very humbling and I stopped whining about how hard it was.

Oh man I just realized I was camped 2 spaces down from you in the back of the Ranger. Yall were packed and gone before I got back because of a flat tire/smashed rim... 11:30... any one who doesn't consider Silver Rush a true MTB event has some wild warped reality. Those long rocky descents were WILD.

I have been to these types of races before, where I ask myself, “why in the world am I doing this to myself.”

Same here. I blew up so bad at an xc race someone asked me if I was ok. My last lap was 10 minutes slower on a 30 min course.

Please dont laugh, but I've done Leadville five times and use a 28 tooth. I like higher cadence-lower resistance for big climb days.. And I enjoy climbing up powerline return.
