Do we need to rinse/clean out fork tubes before pouring in the now fork oil? I've seen a few harley videos where the person rinses the tube to the shop sink/tub. Was wondering if that's necessary?

This is 100% personal choice. You want everything spotless, clean it. If it has been 20,000kms or more, clean it. Frequent oil changes limit the build up of metal debris. Take a moment, be true to yourself and proceed accordingly.

Thanks Dave. You just saved me a lot of time, question, and money.
On an R6 with the same 25mm kit, what weight oil would you suggest? 5wt or heavier?

Like always awesome video! Why did you go with a gpsuspension instead of k tech? Also can you do a simular video but this time do a whole service, change dust seal how to clean etc?

Cool video, shall we take all the preload off before taken the fork apart ?

Ideally yes, as that makes fork cap removal and installation easier.

Hey Dave, I'm looking to rebuild my 25mm Ohlins kit (essentially the same as the GP unit) for a 2008 R6. What oil level do you recommend (in mm)? Also is the oil measured with the spacer in or out of the fork assembly? Thanks again for the video, it's much appreciated!

What about the metal shavings and debris. Doesn't that take up the volume of the oil.

With oi unchanged at 30,000 miles, we found 150cc of metal in 450cc of oil. Yes, it does - hence changing the fork oil frequently.

Is the cap tool necessary or can you use the preload nut to separate the assembly?

Some form of tool is necessary and there are a couple of options other than the Ohlins pin tool, such as a scissor pin tool from Motion Pro in their suspension section. Using the preload adjuster often jams it and then you may have to buy a new cap.

Hi Dave I wouldn't mind paying for a video if its on a ktech dds forks and 35dds rear shock.

We will get to all of that this Winter when we can find some down time away from the track and street events.
