Great interview Ali! I just didn't like the edition. I prefer a longer video but with not constant cutting. Keep on the good work!

It was lit indeed! Great conversation and very good questions. Two small points of feedback: the editing is a bit choppy (it's OK to have some natural breaks in there) and you don't need to confirm as often with "yeh", "m hm", etc. Those are details though and I really appreciate you creating and sharing this content!

Super interesting conversation, especially as I begin to explore EA more so a massive thanks for releasing this. I do however believe that the video cuts and constant “yep”s and “okay”s distract the listeners from the conversation. It seems like other top podcasters make a concerted effort to not do this for the same reason. Not sure if your future episodes have the same issue but massively thankful for this episode either way. Cheers Ali!

there's no "taking a hit" to one's salary when donating. there is just an additional way of spending the money earned. if one takes a hit in donating, one also takes a hit when buying groceries or going out to see a film, etc. I imagine one could also funnel potential donations into one's own charity so as to spend that money in precisely the way one sees as most impactful and most desirable to you as an individual.

Great interview Ali! Def reading his books now and looking into effective altruism and 80000 hours. Been thinking more and more about how I should spend a career as a physician giving back. Also Will brings up Wellbutrin (Bupropion), probably the best antidepressant I’ve found that works for most people, treatment for MDD, ADHD, BPD, SAD, smoking cessation as well as an adjunct for SSRI induced ED, works as a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (DNRI?). Maybe a good start for the pill from Limitless? 😄

Ali, this is a long episode, but simply just listening to it and skipping through some of it, it is marred by the way you keep saying: “yep” and the other acknowledging filler while Will is talking, which is the equivalent of “uh huh.” It stands out and is, for me, very distracting. And it sounds like you’re either bored, impatient, or just waiting to respond more substantially?

  • @MattOatesUK

Radioactive waste is a terrible example, the volume of it is truly minimal despite its long lived nature. The majority of high grade "waste" is highly credible fuel for those future times and different reactor designs. Collecting it for now benefits future generations exactly because it is long lived but otherwise diffuse in the environment.
