He was trying to simulate a fall, aka what happened to him. But he realized it was too cruel to force an innocent angel (Jim is innocent not Gabriel) to fall, it hit too close to home for him
I think Crowley suspected Gabriel was "faking" being Jim for some reason--maybe to get close to Aziraphale and punish him somehow. He was testing to see how far Gabriel (if he was Gabriel) would take before admitting he was faking.
I loved this scene, and the way Crowley talks about what Gabriel tried to do to Aziraphale gives me chills. It really shows just how much he loves his angel. We really need a new series to fix things for them.
It feels so much like he knows what he's talking about. Knowing how it feels to see empty spaces, knowing something should be there. And how painful it is to remember.
Crowley telling Jim to go jump out the window and Jim obediently going for it gave me slight deja vu. I felt the remnants of Killgrave for a split second there 😅
This was one of my favourite scenes in the series. It was so intense! And you can tell how much Crowley loathes Gabriel but, no matter how much he tries, he can’t bring himself to dislike Jim.
"I know, looking at where the furniture isn't" - I will keep saying this: I think that something was wiped from Crowley's memory, and this is why he can understand so quickly the feeling of being like an empty house. Or at least a house with a couple of empty rooms...
Probably that he feels empty because he and Aziraphale haven't settled things and all he truly wants is for them to be an US but he doesn't know how to bring up the subject..... But when he finally does the timing is way off course
@@Sbarellata it hasn't helped that Aziraphale would always verbally push Crowley away. Constantly friend zoning him, then denying the friendship..... Poor Crowley
@@ironvlogger9712 Yes, and on the other hand Crowley not realizing how scared Aziraphale is of his own feelings (his "You go too fast for me, Crowley" still breaks my heart every time). Silly boys.
I think Crowley easing up on his interrogation with Gabriel likely stems from his own memory loss after his fall. He hints to it when he says "looking where the furniture isn't", so he knows, very well, how it feels to be an empty house, so at the very least he can relate to Gabriel's new predicament and thus maybe even sympathises with him. That being said - forgive, but never, ever forget. Prime I'm begging, please let season 3 happen!!!
"I know. Looking at where the furniture isn't." That gives me so much to think about. Like Crowley KNOWS what that feels like... not to remember everything.
I mean… he doesn’t remember why gravity works the way it does… even though he seems to know everything else about it… but he can’t remember why they decided to make it that way… selective things were wiped when he fell… except passwords apparently lol
You can hear the low growl when he says "I was there." and then the rage takes over with the "I did not care for it." He wanted so bad to dispense justice against Gabriel.
I hope we get a storyline in season 3 where Aziraphale discovers Crowley was the Supreme Archangel and realises that Crowley knew all along that of how manipulative Heaven was
This would be interesting, but Gaiman debunked this already. There is a possibility he was an Archangel, though, with the whole heaven scene and interaction with Seraquiel. This is all speculation, of course.
David, you're Kilgrave is showing 😂. The "I know" to "it hurts to remember" seems pretty personal. I think Crowley and Gabriel may have had the same level in heaven (if Crowley wasn't even more powerful and competent) since during the meeting about "Armageddon the sequel" Gabriel first says he's "the only first order archangel in the room" then changes to "in the universe actually". Then there's a close-up on Crowley. I wouldn't be surprised if he used to be one of them and ended up having his memory altered or completely wiped when he fell. Knowing Crowley, he would've endured the pain to recover his full knowledge of himself and his past and would have ended with the complete distrust and hate he now has towards The Up.
I really like your perspective. Also, the way Crowley said "You can" when Gabriel said that he can't remember anything from the past 😮 And the fact that Crowley says "Let there be light" like he did before in Heaven might mean that he did regain his memory back. I'm on your theory side now, you have me
I agree completely, also I feel like the reason why Crowley initially suggested Jim jump out a window is because he was simulating what happened to *him.* but crowley stopped Jim from falling because it hit too close to home to force an innocent angel who doesn’t know better to fall…
On the other hand, out of all the angels only Saraquael (the one in the wheelchair) openly claimed she had been Crowley's colleague while Crowley was still an angel. And they haven't been doing paperwork or politics together, they worked on some stars or nebulas I think. So they were something like scientists, they weren't members of Heaven's leadership. None of the current leaders of Heaven (Gabriel, Michael, Uriel) seems to react to Crowley as though they had been colleagues once. So either they weren't in the leadership back then, or Crowley wasn't. On the other hand, the top boss Metatron and Crowley clearly know each other - in fact, out of the whole room of angels Crowley was the only one who recognized him. Suspicious! The concept of “the empty house”, as Jim put it, is intriguing to me. To take everything evil in a person and remove it, leaving an innocent soul who never has to live with regret, or being hated, seems like a mercy.

I suspect the Metatron will want to do something to Crowley for refusing the offer of reinstatement as an angel. Perhaps that will be the thing that finally opens Aziraphale's eyes.
@@ctwofirst6635 I'm not sure about that--my impression was that the Metatron manipulated Aziraphale into making that offer to Crowley--knowing or strongly suspecting Crowley would refuse--in order to separate the two of them because, together, they are colossally powerful (their tiniest miracle for "Jim" had the power to resurrect 25 people).
