I want to back you up on Age-Old Bond. I do work with it in PVP even. With high-cal rounds it's a monster to duel against. And my roll is pretty mid, but I love that thing. That and Lodbrock are the only autos I'll use in PVP
Vault cleaning content is good for a couple reasons:
1. We get to see that creators are just like us.
2. It facilitates conversations between creators about the game.
3. Those who are struggling with their vaults can get good advice.
It’s also easy to put on in the background.
Seeing what rolls creators like using on some weapon types gives me some ideas on what to chase.

Beyond that, I just find it fun to see what creators actually have lying around in their vaults. Being accustomed to my own arsenal for years is a bit boring sometimes.

100% and as someone's who's newer to the game (300 hrs) it's nice to hear about a load of guns I've never seen before so I know what to look for in the future, same goes for perks

One of my consistently favorite things about vault cleaning videos is the fact that everybody seems to have Chattering Bone in their vaults that they just never use.

Also I think it'd be interesting to see y'all do this as a DIM tutorial style. Also I'm just tagging stuff to delete when I log in to Lightfall for some quick Banshee levels from the dismantles
I’m only 10 minutes in but compared to how other TH-camrs handle vault cleanings, this one feels like a speed run. First person I’ve seen who’s actually willing to delete just about anything.
clicked on this thinking "this is the longest datto vault cleaning video i've seen" only to immediately hear they meant for it to be 30 minutes
speaking as a seven-times-gilded Dredgen with 48 Infamy resets, i actually think gambit is in as good of a state as they could get it, and the lack of balance patches is actually pretty nice cause it means i don't need to be doing homework every other month to understand how to play this game mode that i've put so many years into.
There's a reason why the title associated with Gambit is a word that means something that's been pulled out of the mud. We really don't mind being ignored, because at least it means bungie isn't going to fuck with it any more.

I too really like gambit, and agree that gambit is actually balance wise in a good state. (your blueberries might be another story)
The one things I would definitely change is just give us back the two maps that were vaulted. Experimentally, make the first invasion portal that opens be your opponents, then the 2nd one be ur own, to give them a chance to make a play back, instead of letting the team in the lead make two aggressive moves in a row. More down to earth experiment would be to have green ammo drop like normal and heavy only drop from envoys in prime evil phase, tho this was more to address the invasions with heavy which I honestly dont see that as much as when ghorn first came out, and eyes before that.

I honestly have fun when I load up my 3 Gambit matches for the week, but I only load it up those 3 times and that's it and I don't know why. They worst part is loading into the same map those 3 times in a row.
1:21:20 perfect float takes half the time to activate compared to frenzy. It also bugs frenzy out and makes it take 6 seconds to activate rather than 12 seconds. That's a godroll
I love this format where you're doing like a counter-interview of Datto. And you have this great back and forth.
TBH, all these vault cleaning videos I tend to just watch in the background, it's those little tidbits of discussion that helped me justify or rationalize a bunch of the stuff I finally decided to shard from my vault, got my vault down to half this season, around 300.
Best one is just the fact that if a weapon is 1350, has no trackers, etc it's good reason to just get rid of it. I remember Gjerda's video and it reminds me that vault cleaning, and IRL marie kondo style cleaning is a good thing to do once in a while. Helps you reevaluate the stuff that really matters to you now in the moment, and a bunch of other stuff you can just relegate to your memory instead of it taking space in your shelf or vault being like dishonored because it's gathering dust and no longer seeing use. Really unburdens you in a way, feels good.

I still rewatch the first cleaning you did with Datto. I love the vault cleaner videos because they're hilarious but I'm also curious to see what content creators have in their vaults.

They briefly touched on Gambit in the video. Being the odd one that really likes gambit i offer three potential solutions.
1. Bring back the Reckoning, or a revamped and/or new version of it with an updated reward system ( new weapons, materials, etc). It gives people a different option other than gambit itself.
2. With Reckoning, bring back the "Role" armors that gave people specific jobs and effects in gambit. It somewhat organized people in the team and made things more interesting ( my opinion ).
3. Bring back "good" old maps and make new ones.
I personally think that when gambit had these things it was at it's best ( my opinion).

Semi Gambit main here. Not a hardcore one but play it enough to be Dredgen 7x.
I feel Gambit is more competitive than Crucible so long as it’s in stacks (which I think is fair to say since high-end Crucible is done in stacks). You need a good ad clear, preemptively know where ads spawn and where invaders spawn (on both ends), know when and when not to grab heavy, etc.
I think the only reason why people hate Gambit is because they go in and play it as a strike, where they can go around with whatever they want and mindlessly play.
CoolCheese has Gambit guides that explain just how deep Gambit can go and does it infinitely better than a comment.

I love these vault cleaning videos, they give me a such good insight and help me step back and actually find a weapons actual worth. Once severs go back up and I play the opening campaign mission I'm hopping over to the vault and going to be ruthless and have Dattos voice in the back of my head for motivation. (I've kept alot of red borders for just incase they become craftable so i can get a jump start on patterns, if they dont that'll clear up and easy 40-50 slots).

To answer datto, I just like watching him roast people. It doesn’t even have to be a vault cleaning at this point. It’s just where some of the best roasts come from.
It's cathartic, watching someone else doing inventory/cleaning, when you know you have yours yet to do. That's why I watch these ones....
After watching this for the second time, I realized I was not subbed to you and I am sorry! That has been remedied and I will continue to enjoy your content. Also, I hope you and Datto can work together again as you play off each other well!
Fantastic video. Loved the questions and the conversation, and would have loved to see you at least finish the weapons, but still great conversation.
So im a newbie to destiny 2. And I will say that my reason for watching is evaluating what's good and what's not good. In different settings because this is what's teaching me what I can comfortably delete and what not to delete in the future.
Vault cleanings are a great watch TBH. it’s very informative and helps give me better weapon and armor assessments
Datto is the leading expert it critical vault studies, super cool to see Nomad have him on.

I think it's a couple reason. 1 cause people probably wanna know what to keep / delete. 2. People wanna see all the old weapons.
To answer why i still watch these. I get to judge the destiny creators by the contents of their vaults

I had about 300+ items in the vault pre lightfall,about 2 days before Lightfall was about 125 :D Now gotta wait another year until a vault clean up :D
After watching datto a few seasons ago, I now keep my vault around 250 to 300. No more trash is allowed!

I’m the resident gambit weirdo in my clan (reckoner, “back in my day we had a scorn map,” etc.). It’s not been in a great spot for a minute - the more fun and dynamic the PvE sandbox gets; the worse and more broken Gambit gets. It needs a rebalance WAY away from Heavy ammo and the current super-farming meta, and a refocus on role-based bonuses instead (like gambit prime, which was a better version of the game than we have right now). Health-gating the boss, pre-spawning invaders, and the bugginess and desync that can be openly and easily abused makes high-level SBMM gambit a nightmare. Wish it were better.

I've been using this to clean my vault from 500 down to 150 truly the greatest value I've ever gotten out of a d2 video
There are only three void auto rifles in Destiny 2 and two of them are from raids. I really hope in Lightfall we actually get new void auto rifles with intrinsic traits.

I feel like folks enjoy the content just so they can see the content creators get all frazzled with the decisions, but I see it as a sort of litmus test for Vault maintenance. I've been able to consistently keep at least a full page of 50 available at all times (and steadily increasing) from watching stuff like these and assessing what's really in my Vault and what should and shouldn't be there.

I love Datto cleansing vaults because he’s brutal even with weapons the owners fond of but never used for a year or months on end.
I feel like datto cleaning vaults don't get old because he rarely uploads stuff to his YT unless its his opinion on something. I don't watch his streams and we cant force him to upload more to YT so, its a alright from me!

The heavy brick from the high value target still works with scavengers. Fix that and there will be less successful xenophage invades.

@@Amirifiz comes out at reset today (27th feb) at reset time in your time zone. Preload is available when maintenance starts.
I don't know that hoarding advice from a guy with 80 pairs of shoes is going to be very productive.
That being said, Datto's vault advice is great.
Now if I could only narrow down my Old Fashioned and BXR collections.

We just like watching our favorite Destiny creators talk about the game we all love, and vault cleaning hits a certain spot with all of us because we all have that debate with ourselves or our friends about having to delete something.
I enjoy the thought process - and compare it to my own. :)
Heavy weapons should be locked in gambit while invading or being invaded. Dying to xenophage or gjallarhorn is a pain in the ass. That would make the game mode so much better

Gambit needs a new mechanical boss every week on a 5 week rotation and not as much heavy and have to have a competitive gambit mode plssssssss
Bit of a nitpick: that Main Ingredient _was_ 1 of the 2 god rolls that Xur gave away. I still keep the one you have, as I prefer Firmly Planted over Under Pressure despite the nerf. (I can crouch with fusions often and there’s no ammo constraint. I still love Under Pressure regardless.)

Have to disagree with Datto on adaptive munitions. We will see, but I had the opposite view where getting rid of match game actually buffs the effectiveness of adaptive munitions. In a solo elemental build, I’m running it for the legendary campaign.
Imma be honest, i am very harsh on myself when it comes to my vault. I keep 150 guns total. Not in my vault alone, it's all i keep. And now it will probably be even less since matchgame is gone. I really like having my vault pretty empty and my characters very clean, with only 4 guns in each slot.

on the adept topic, i have a non adept pali that has quickdraw and rangefinder that ive kept because it was my main weapon before i spent 14 hours in the scarlet keep trying to grind an adept pali. even though i have the best adept palindrome you can possibly get ive still held on to my regular pali. went through some things together lol. also ive literally only been able to get good rolls on regular messengers. all the adept messengers ive gotten are doo doo. adept is just a cool word if the rolls are bad.
