- It’s the final day of public hearings at the International Court of Justice - which is examining the legality of Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian lands.
51 countries and three international organisations have presented their arguments.
Most called for Israel's occupation to be declared illegal.

The law is clear. Article 51 of the UN Charter does speak to the right of self-defence, and it has outlined that an attack that would trigger self-defence must be committed by another member state and cannot have originated from a territory that is under belligerent occupation by the state that is claiming self-defence.
In other words, Palestinians and their territory are under illegal occupation, and therefore any attacks that emanate from Gaza-which is under Israel’s control as an occupier-does not allow for Israel to use force against Gaza as self-defence as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter.

The UN has to step up strongly to give Israel 24 hour deadline to withdraw from the Gaza, else face the consequence of the coalition of nations using military forces if necessary. Every minute and hour delay will result in loss of Palestine's life.

Well Gaza was not occupied, but in general, if you start a war and lose you will generally end up occupied. Was the Allied occupation of Germany and Japan after WWII illegal? If you then refuse to sign a peace treaty (see Arabs after losing the 1967 war they started) what do you expect the occupying side to do? Just withdraw? Oh they tried that in Gaza and the result was they just started attacking again. If you don't want to be occupied don't start wars, and if you have started a war and lost and don't like being occupied then it might be an idea to sign a peace treaty and stop attacking.

The United Nations could offer all of Palestine recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with no State of Israel and no weapons within its borders. What would be preserved is a unified Palestine where every person is respected and every belief is accepted. Everyone is included and no one is excluded or treated like chattel. As a foundation of peace for the World, Palestine demonstrated throughout its history, that all religions could coexist. All weapons should be confiscated from the River to the Sea based on the ICJ ruling to prevent genocide in Palestine.
