Thank you Freya for Bringing this to my Mind. Currently I'm so way down with my voice cause it failed me while I was singing on Stage today, that alone made my day went bad with sadness 😔. Would try putting all this tips in my daily days practice. Thank you Freya!
Going to start doing this. I love singing. Can't sing though. But hey, if Ed Sheeren can do it, so can I. (For anyone wondering, the guy used to sound like 2 cats were going at it whilst also dying. Now look at him)
I am really scared that I might not find the voice, but your advice on positive mindset, really hit home. Will work on it slowly but surely. Thanks Freya.
1. Drink enough water. I recommend warm water infused with honey & lemon in the morning, as it helps warm the throat (especially in winter) before even starting warm-ups. 2. Keep your gut healthy. Eat well and avoid stress. Good nutrition will improve muscle health. Protein aids muscle repair, which will be helpful after vocal injury (or even after a tough day of rehearsal). 3. Warm-up correctly. Sing through your entire range and progressively grow your power as you get through it. Get in about 10-15mins of warm-up in before singing. 4. Speak on the right pitch. Don't speak too high or too low, or too rough or too breathily. Soft head-voice is ideal. 5. Fix your posture. This may even give you better range! 6. Keep a positive mindset. Be objective and don't get hung up on perfection. Improve a little each day, and take rests when necessary. Meditation may be helpful, especially meditating on where you've improved today, or even celebrate if your voice stayed the same. 7. Practice deep breathing. It will keep you calm, reducing cortisol, loosening your muscles (including your vocal muscles). 8. Get enough physical exercise. Cardio can help to expand your lungs to improve breath capacity, and strong abs will help you with belting! 9. Warm Ginger Tea, like warm water, will definitely help your vocal health. 10. Sing through your ENTIRE RANGE (chest and head-voice) at least once a day. Practice good larynx posture.
I have band practices everyday...and EVERYDAY i keep watching at least one of you video for motivation and tips...WORKS WONDERS!!! LOVE YA FREYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so grateful for my voice and all the opportunities I’ve been given even though my voice is not where I’d like it to be I’m so happy I can practice everyday and be able to improve myself.
I work nights and the money I need but my voice has been damaged due to smoking so I'm on a weight loss fitness and stopping smoking regime. Also I don't get alot of very good sleep as my situation is so sad and hard right now. Hope I can beat this and be with my children again soon as possible. I sing so much better with them around
I have sang in a choir in and off throughout my life but stopped about 8 years ago, I have started back singing in my church choir now 70 yrs, but my voice needs some desperate training, love your videos and advice, thankyou
I mean I use the tips you given to in my own life everyday you have such a beautiful singing voice like a angle in heaven and you are so pretty I love your make up too 👍❤️😊🤗
Freya, what an awesome video! Just like you believe, being grateful to God every moment is the basic principle of my life. Taking care of one’s health, as you have so adequately stated, is part of the devotion to God. After all He is the one who created our body! Because of your ideas, and your talent of course, I have great respect and love for you! God Bless You!
*Freya, i love your channel SO much 💫💙 I wanted to ask you if you could, please, make a video talking about the ego, the competition and the jealousy in the singing world, specially when there's so, so many ways to upload our voice to social media this days. How can we stop comparing ourselves and focus only on our career and our voices. And i would love to hear about your stories and experiences dealing with the hard part of the singing industry* Thank you, from Chile.
I ADORE this video, its wonderful to see a someone not only tell you facts but sing and prove they work. The proof is right there and I just feel I can trust every word she says. What a brilliant video on vocal health. Thank-you for making this.
Thank you for this wonderful video! 💛 I love the “stay positive” and “breathe deep” talk points. Also I didn’t think about the stamina you get from fitness can positively affect your vocal chords. This video has so much great information! 😊✨
Thank you Freya! I started doing daily vocal warmups recently and couldn't figure out why I sounded worse after a few weeks. Now I know! I'll definitely be starting out quietly and building strength from now on.
My voice doesn't feel healthy at the moment. That's why I was so happy when I came across your video. I'm currently practicing to get into music college and my voice just feels weak. I can't tell whether I don't have enough breath support or I am straining my voice too much

I’m only 18 and don’t have a career and singing but I often find my self singing once everyone leaves the house for school and work, I often sing songs like defying gravity or the wizard and i and each time I’m done my voice always has this burning in my throat

Hi Freya! Thank you for your great tips! I got work injuries when I was only 23 years old & because of those, Chronic pain (nerve pain) in my neck, shoulders, lower back etc & my muscles around my wounds are always tense. I’ve been singing solo since I was 2 years old,but because I got injured I lost my chance to follow my dream to become a professional singer. I was ready to go to the Music University but had to call & tell them I couldn’t come. I use many of your suggestions, & warming up my hurting body is the most important one for me. Pain killers & pain shots just isn’t enough so I do what my body allows me to do that day. I recently lost my voice for almost 7 weeks when they injured my vocal chords during an operation! I was so scared! Thank God I got it back! Keep up the good work & thank you again for your videos etc 🙏🏼❣️God Bless you 😇❣️, Lena from Sweden (btw,my American fiancé lived in Germany for many years & he says you cannot drink tap water in Germany? Only bottled water)? Maybe it depends on where in Germany you live? Just curious 😊. In Sweden we have good water 👍🏼🙂. I follow a very experienced Nutritionist here on TH-cam (Dr. Berg) & he says that you shouldn’t drink if you’re not thirsty & also not eat if you’re not hungry 😊‼️ I highly recommend him for any health issue(s) you might have 👍🏼‼️ He’s helped hundreds of thousands how & what to eat to get healthy etc & he’s helped (helps) me a lot 🙏🏼❣️ I’m sorry Freya, but I just had to recommend him! Even if people think they’re eating healthy - just search for Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto (it’s different from “normal” keto)! If you need to lose weight - his Healthy keto is the answer & you won’t get the kilos back if you stick to this keto plan 👍🏼! I’ve always been skinny but with muscles, but got hormonal, Thyroid problems, + more, & gained 26 kilos in a year! I’m only 148 cm tall! My doctor couldn’t/wouldn’t help me?! I found Dr. Berg & after 2,5 months I’ve lost 20 kilos! If I could exercise more I would’ve lost it all already! I’m so grateful 🙏🏼❣️
Appreciate you a lot. Your awarness is inspiring and contagious. Thank you, im gonna check out more of your videos. Excited to see where i can take my vocals
Hey Freya, this is awesome info! Could you please share where to find your recipe, mentioned at the end of the video? I believe it’s a juice we make? My immune system is the pits.
