  • Thanks for joining us on our channel. Would like to do a bunch of different things one of our biggest hobbies through the winter months is cutting and splitting firewood. We take a portion of our sales and donate it back to volunteer fire department ! Some of my biggest challenges is splitting the wood, then throwing it up into an IBC tote over the winner I put the log splitter inside of my dump trailer since I was not using it due to salt being on the roads, but then my new challenge was coming up with a permanent solution without spending eight to $10,000 on a Conveyor for firewood. Also the cost of running the equipment I came up with this design from scrap materials laying around the shop hope you enjoy the video!
    Thank you for choosing to watch our channel and the progress we have made so far on our 52 acre farm. We enjoy making upgrades to the property whether it's access roads, or installing large and small, barns, equipment, storage buildings, running heavy equipment, and giving a home to a miniature pony and miniature donkey. We like to give others ideas of how we operate things on our property. We don't claim to be professionals, but we like to share our opinion and views. we are very much open for suggestions or opinions in a respectful manner to further our progress, on making things safer for us in the future. We thank each and every one of you for your input and continued support through this journey!

    Your splitting stage is a great idea Tom! You’re always thinking, now all you need after splitting is a microphone and a guitar!!👍👍

    Great idea Tom. Solid plan! I would put bolt the wooden platform down to the metal frame in a few places though. I know the wood splitter is heavy, but the vibration could cause the wooden platform to shift.
    A railing would be a good idea.

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I plan on running some lags down through it I also welded some half-inch steel pipe parallel to the two by fours keeping it from rotating but I for sure need to get a railing on it 👍. Thanks for watching.

    Great idea Tom! Good solution to saving money and making it affective! I like that you’re able to do very little lifting and more of a side to side transfer of the wood from bucket to splitter. That’ll save your back!

    Hi Tom, great creativity and thinking of inexpensive ways to accomplish the task. I couldn't justify the cost of the conveyors since they are as much or more as a quality splitter.

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree they are insane what they cost I’m sure you could build something like this out of wood your log cutting table is pretty heavy duty !

  • @765Guys

    Love it, anything to avoid the costly conveyor😂, I’m in the same boat as you. Good idea!

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly!! Plus people don’t ever talk about you running fuel through a log splitter and a conveyor. Currently gravity is free until the government figures out a way to charge us for it 😳🤣

  • @OpenAirAdventure
    @OpenAirAdventure 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You were the first to use the gravity fed elevated splitter. Outside, you could use a platform or ground material, maybe jersey barriers filled with material. Or take advantage of a bank or slop on the land. Cost-effective, energy efficient, maintenance-free loading.

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For the guys that don’t have welding skills,…you could get some railroad ties and dirt to build like a loading dock. Just thought of that because that’s what it reminded me of.

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree that’s a great idea especially if you had an area that you could do something permanent 👍

      @@fatefarmspa I’m grateful that you at least gave me the idea, 😁. I won’t count it out for certain. I currently run a Super Split HD,…but I have the new Axis HO with attached conveyor on order. So that would deter me from building that “loading dock.” The idea will for sure be available to others that I know.

    Hi there Mr. Tom. You came up with something that works for your situation. I love that it’s inside out of the weather. As long as it’s easy to get to in your barn. I am a little concerned with you going up and down the ladder. A guy your age needs to be careful.I think you could make an elevator using your canams winch, and get rid of the ladder. I just know you’re going to design an elevator now. Use the remote to get you up and down from the Canam. If you need further engineering skills just let me know. I can see you laughing now. Truly a great idea building the raised splitting platform .I’m ready to go home. Been here In Mazatlan for 2 weeks. Flying back late tomorrow Monday. I go stir crazy, I have got to be doing things. Take care my friend. Maybe by The Paul Bunyan show you can have the elevator set up with the elevated stand. Al Club Dora.

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha. Get something to slingshot me up to the platform ! Two weeks is a long time nice to get away and out of the cold though . my parents went to Florida for a month this year and my dad told me that’s too long to stay away. He’s going to be 72 in a couple months he’s obsessed with working. 🤣

    Sure makes sense to use gravity in your favor. Now the trailer can go do trailer things...👍😄

    • @fatefarmspa
      @fatefarmspa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I think I’m satisfied for now. Pretty much works perfect for my situation. A conveyor would be cool but pretty much just a novelty thing. At this point maybe I’ll run across an old Hay elevator someday Wolf Ridge and Easton made eight to $10,000 for a conveyor belt. That’s a ton of money to move firewood a few feet. 🤣

    • @dusttodusthomestead
      @dusttodusthomestead 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fatefarmspa that is too much money to move it a few feet for sure. Like you said, put a little rail around the side and keep yourself from stepping off and then you're good to go. 👍🏻
