I love this because while my parents are Pakistani, they moved to the Arab world in their twenties. So both cuisines have a place in my home, and these are both dishes I eat regularly.
We in the North (attock) don't use any tamarind...but lemon juice and lots of yogurt in channa chaat Everyone has their own variations In bahawalnagar they even use raw mango in channa chaat In lahore I saw people using apricot jam like sauce over channa chaat
i love exploring foods from refugee communities as im sure they miss home. and we can learn a lot about their homeland. when i volunteered in greece. i went to a new syrian restaurant in greece by refugees. the salads were amazing! and different than american salads w tart pomegranate syrup or something. it was very memorable. i know syria is a beautiful place and i hope that it will have peace and rebuilding one day
I love chana chaat with papdi in it. Papdi is basically fried chips that adds crunchiness to the soft chickpeas and for me, that just elevates it to the next level. I also like adding chaat masala and some tamarind chutney to make it a little spicy and acidic. To be honest there are many variations you can do to the dish.
My mom made a dish she called slumgullion. Ground beef cooked with onions, whatever veggies leftover in the fridge tomato sauce and chickpeas. Some times she would add macaroni noodles depending on how much of everything else there was. She used a spaghetti spice package to season it. She hated cooking. I think this recipe was one thing I actually liked. I know that sounds weird but it really came together well.
Here in Greece we eat chickpeas as a stew. Then again we eat most legumes as stews! Chickpeas are the lemony stew, white beans are the tomatoy one and lentils are the versatile one 😄
Channa chaat, papri chaat, gol gappay…. Yummm! Pakistani food is the best! Especially our biyani and nihari. They’ve aced the blend of spices to perfection.
LOVE THIS SERIES! FANTASTIC. I ALSO STORE POTS AND PANS IN MY OVEN. 2 of my favourite chickpeas dishes, married to an Indian and loving Middle Eastern dishes, we always have this for afternoon weekend snacks or during Ramadan to break our fast. Yum.
Wonderful! Especially the "cinematic effect!" It so easily could have been cheesey and hokie, but it was not, it just worked! And that look he gave after he threw the towel over his shoulder?! Valentino himself could not have done it better!
Both those dishes look amazing. I love hummus, it's one of the best dips for anything bready, or even if i just have some fresh veges lying around they'll be gone in 5 seconds if i have hummus. The texture is incredibly moreish.
Though not from my country, I love roasting chickpeas in my air fryer. Drain, rinse, & pat dry the chickpeas. Drizzle a little olive oil, shake, add spices of your choice (my last batch was masala curry), shake again, & air fry until light & crispy. They are a nutritious & addictive snack.
But here in Dubai, all the Syrian people eat very simple food, boiled rice and boiled meat without spices and burger shawarma is also dull and their bread is made of max flour which is called habs and they have milk cream and olives. It is eaten as a curry by adding oil
This channel and it's exploratory teaching has been a major drive for me as I give back 50% of my weekly earning(22,000) to food banks here in Louisiana. God bless America 🇺🇸
Gosh that Syrian fatteh looks amazing! Also the Chana chaat looks good but it was missing a key ingredient : imli (tamarind) chutney! Lemon juice just doesn't compare to the sweet, sour and spicy tang of imli ki chutney
Try the Lebanese version of fatteh with a salty/garlicky yogurt sauce topped with pine nuts toasted in butter (as a substitute for the hummus). Equally delicious.
The concept is very good but in this video the Chaat masala use is from India but the best and most popular is Shan masala in Pakistan and their flavor is different. 😊😊😊.
I think they need to make their own recipes by themselves and taste each other food. Because i don't think they can make each other food in just one try that good.
But here in Dubai, all the Syrian people eat very simple food, boiled rice and boiled meat without spices and burger shawarma is also dull and their bread is made of max flour which is called habs and they have milk cream and olives. It is eaten as a curry by adding oil😂😂😂😂
Pakistani here 🙋🏻♀️ Khadija’s Fattet hummus looks appetising! I really want to try making it now.
Channa chat is a must dish for iftar (breaking the fast) here in Pakistan
I adore this series. Cultural exploration and I didn't even have to pack my luggage.
And I didn’t even have to renew my passport, or buy a plane ticket! 💖💖💖
I love Syrian food ❤
Syrian people r nice people ❤
Honestly I think Beryl should receive a Nobel Peace Prize, she is an absolute treasure and brings people together
As a daily chickpea eater who loves these 2 cuisines, this episode was perfect.
I love this because while my parents are Pakistani, they moved to the Arab world in their twenties.
So both cuisines have a place in my home, and these are both dishes I eat regularly.
❤❤
I've watched Beryl's content for years. I am really enjoying this series and partnership. I can definitely see Beryl's touch here >.
Thumbs up for "cinematic effect"
Yes! I was looking for this comment!
Cinematic Hummus is the new name of the recipe from now on...
We Pakistani like to add tamarind pulp not lemon juice though it's looking nice
Both version exists in Pakistan
@@sanatanvir9202Exactly. It definitely has a lot of versions.
well i add both 😅
Imli ki meethi chatni >>>

in pk we papri, what you are describing is papri chat. Channa chaat is basically without the tamarind chutney, papri, and sweet dahi
Chana chaat is with papri and tamarind pulp in Karachi idk which version are you mentioning without all this it comes with all these
Thats exactly how we make it in my home too
So happy that you loved our fatteh. Again the world needs more like you Beryl to bring people together.

This Episode was just so much love. I love the people that she features everyday.
I'm a Pakistani, but I'd pick Hummus over Chana Chat any given day. Also, Syrians are one of the nicest people I've met in my life.
I love her showing off her “mom hands”. There is something about moms picking up the hottest things with bare hands bravely without hesitation.❤
Yum.
My family's from Bangladesh, and I feel like we eat a lot of chickpeas! Beryl, you need to do a besan (chickpea flour) episode!
Syrian nachos! Can’t wait to try. Thank you!!!
Wonderful! Especially the "cinematic effect!" It so easily could have been cheesey and hokie, but it was not, it just worked! And that look he gave after he threw the towel over his shoulder?! Valentino himself could not have done it better!
Love chickpeas in any form. Dishes making my mouth water
Just followed the recipe and made the Fattet-Hummus - it was amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I am so looking forward to this epidode! Thank you Beryl!
6:38 when life gives you lemons : make cinematic art
Both those dishes look amazing. I love hummus, it's one of the best dips for anything bready, or even if i just have some fresh veges lying around they'll be gone in 5 seconds if i have hummus. The texture is incredibly moreish.
Would love to try syrian hummus ❤ from 🇵🇰

I've been looking forward to more vegetarian dishes 😊
oh ya Beryl in the big time baby💪🏻PBS you gotta let her do a longer format show, it would be 🔥🔥
Always go for Shan chaat masala
Both these dishes look so good.
Both dishes look so tasty and healthy.
Both dishes are delicious
I love the idea behind this channel
I adore this series ❤️🇨🇦❤️
TY, Beryl! Another winning episode.
I love channa Aloo chaat, my mum made the most yummy version..usually we put allot more yogurt then that
But here in Dubai, all the Syrian people eat very simple food, boiled rice and boiled meat without spices and burger shawarma is also dull and their bread is made of max flour which is called habs and they have milk cream and olives. It is eaten as a curry by adding oil
this show is so cute and fun! came here from beryls channel. It's giving me lots of new cooking options
Yay Becca! Can’t wait for what’s next!
This channel and it's exploratory teaching has been a major drive for me as I give back 50% of my weekly earning(22,000) to food banks here in Louisiana. God bless America 🇺🇸
God bless you more abundantly for your generosity
I'm genuinely curious to know how you earn that much weekly?
Big thanks to Kathleen Mary Vella
She's a licensed broker here in the states 🇺🇸
Her top notch guidance and expertise on digital market changed the game for me
On one of your earlier videos you mentioned your cooking club. Is this something I can watch?
Loved the dishes, but the cinematic effect was awesome!
Loved this one ❤❤❤
i dont love hummus. but i love these dishes!
Gosh that Syrian fatteh looks amazing! Also the Chana chaat looks good but it was missing a key ingredient : imli (tamarind) chutney! Lemon juice just doesn't compare to the sweet, sour and spicy tang of imli ki chutney
I can’t wait to try these 😊
both dishes r yummmyyyyyy ۔۔۔۔
The pots and pans in the oven is such a Latino thing too. 😂
Drives my husband insane. But that’s where they go!
New subscriber from pakistan...plaese made karahi ,our best traditional dish
I like to see more videos on Chickpea Dishes!!
Also with chaat, you can add toasted pitta as well and make it papri-chaat
Try the Lebanese version of fatteh with a salty/garlicky yogurt sauce topped with pine nuts toasted in butter (as a substitute for the hummus). Equally delicious.
Love it!
both amazing dishes
I love Beryl! she is the best!!
When it comes to Chick peas, nothing beats Pakistani 'Chana Masala' which is served in morning along with 'Paratha'. Ah, yumm!
The concept is very good but in this video the Chaat masala use is from India but the best and most popular is Shan masala in Pakistan and their flavor is different. 😊😊😊.
Not everyone uses Shan masala some people make their own masalas and some use khulay way masalay.
That MDH valey baba jee was from Sialkot Punjab 😂
Literally every house has a different chat masala in south asia
channa chat have two types in Pakistan one is with out yogurt and one is with yogurt i like with yogurt
I am trying the hummus and pita recipe, minus the pine nuts
i usually pair chana chat with mint chatni . its a game changer
I have so many Chick Peas that were given to me..... I watched this to get ideas.....All what I saw was yummy........
Lovely dish from khadija❤
Looks like the Syrian version of Nachos
One chutney is missing tumrind chutney makes chana chat more delicious
I love how the editors indulged him on 'cinematic effect'
Channa Chaat ,murgh chana (chicken+chick pea) all dishes from Pakistan
Beryl is ❤ I love this series
😮 these look fire 🔥🔥🔥
Syria love from pakistan
Goes to show that chickpeas really are a major part of the Silk Road
Channa Chaat is very customisable dish. You can change the ingredients as per your liking!
Channa chat have youghurt , chatni, crackers too
I think they need to make their own recipes by themselves and taste each other food. Because i don't think they can make each other food in just one try that good.
Beryl and her YT videos 🫰🏻
💚🌸💚🌸💚
TAMARIND PULP was missing though
love pakistani food
Pakistani chickpeas are the best!!!!!
Love that the most crucial ingredient of the Pakistani chaat is Indian chaat masala 😂
Recipes please
Knowing both cultures well and though Pakistani, I like Fatta far more. Don't much like Canna chart.
What kind of Chana Chaat is that without' Imli' .
omg it is filled with yougurt, you have to put about half kg yougurt in it too and tarmerind chutney.
Where is imli ke chutney(sweet and sour) in channa chat
why dont you try recipes of black chickpea from different regions
There is no better Chickpea dish than Chole Bhature.
Pakistani food is delicious!
Tamarind sauce would really level it up. If you make it again, add tamarind
Pasta e ceci (and its erstwhile Americanization to "cheech" is just fun to say).
Even Adil looks like a chickpea. No doubt they chose him for this episode. 😂
Where are the recipes?
But here in Dubai, all the Syrian people eat very simple food, boiled rice and boiled meat without spices and burger shawarma is also dull and their bread is made of max flour which is called habs and they have milk cream and olives. It is eaten as a curry by adding oil😂😂😂😂
Syrian eats BLAND food since when i distinctly remember how spicy and flavourfull the food i ate in Syria or the Syrian food i ate outside of Syria
@@ahmadsultan4643 🤣🤣😂😅😅
Divided by countries, united by Islam...and of course the chickpeas.
brown skin chickpeas!!
In my life, there is a never a thing as too much chickpea
Chana chaat is incomplete without tarmarind sauce
