- A video of a Roshel Senator Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) breaking down in Ukraine is going viral on social media. The vehicle is one of the APCs supplied to Ukraine by Canada and is manufactured by Canadian defence firm Roshel Inc. The video of the APC with its tires completely dislodged on a muddy track has sparked a flood of criticism online. Several critics are questioning the quality of military equipment NATO countries are sending to Ukraine.

What everyone needs to understand is that vehicles do break down in combat and need to be repaired and maintained. Even an Abrams tank needs it maintainance.
Conflict in Ukraine is basically a free advertisement for weapon manufacturer. He sent 200 free armored vehicles expecting free advertisement, instead of that he's getting ridiculed
Well, it's a Ford f-550 chassis, which is not Rochel's product, and, yes, equipment can fail, formany reasons...if this *ONE* out of 200, maybe Ukraine is thankful for the other 199!
Even if this incident is a bad ad for this vehicle, it is maybe an isolated one! It is hard to do a conclusion about the quality of this vehicle only on this video.
@@derkarhu5079it's quite hilarious to glorify the scrap.
It's all about money, the biggest money laundry scheme is being unfolded right before our eyes.
Not free, my friend. Canada gov't purchased that disposable material to send them over
These don't even look like real ' battle taxis ' but internal security vehicles that riot police would use.
it's a civilian truck with armor upgrades, it's only designed for light tactical support, transport and logistics. Not frontline service.
@@apollotoaster5048 Yes, it's explained. They are basically internal security vehicles. Real ' battle taxis ' are built round a V-shaped hull, not a commercial frame.
@@apollotoaster5048to me this looks more like a failed attempt to tow the vehicle than anything else. Also this is one out of 200, after several months if abuse and poor maintanance.
This is clickbait
@@T.efpunkt I agree, the picture of te accident is without any context about what actually happened, anything can break under the right circumstances.
They weld heavy steel plate armor to a stock Ford truck and for got or did not upgrade the suspension system to handle the heavy weight of the new armored …🤔
Sorry. Just learned that it is not designed for heavy off-road work or frontline. If so, it is understandable if it broke because it was doing something over its limits.
good excuse, if only it had been a personal car but god damn it is a military vehicle😂
Why the hell is it in Ukraine then?
Nope, that's not gonna work as an excuse. The video says the Roshel APC is made "using the bare chassis" of a FORD F-550. I've seen BASE MODEL F-150's be tougher than this APC on a muddy road. It's crap.
Yes, I think you are right. Chassis is loaded by armor and meant for protection against shrapnel, not direct hits. Secondly, it is not an all terrain vehicle.
heavy armor and mud will break its suspension.
Grateful to Canada 🇨🇦 for helping Ukraine! 🇺🇦
And given the known 'limits' of the Ukrainian conditions, should not have been considered as an option.
So a Roshel broke down after being driven like a bat outta hell for 6 months? Seems pretty normal to me.
It's pure speculation that it was the road conditions that caused this failiure. Towing a vehicle the wrong way can lead to this very outcome
@@T.efpunktProbably got stuck and abandoned and Russian captured it and damaged it by incompetence.
@@RandomGuy9 these are ukrainians in the footage. Look at the uniforms
Normal for canada, not for real military superpowers like the US, Russia, and China
It had 26 miles on ....thats Why its all over social media
It looks like they simply "dragged the thing to death." It got bogged down in hte mud so they threw that steel cable to it and towed it with the tank and as the wheels got even more mired in the thick mud they just kept pulling. Something had to give and the suspension collapsed. Then they unhitched the tow cable, you can see it on the ground, to make the video. You can also see the fenders are kinked, which wouldn't happen if the suspension just failed, they wrenched it hard towing it. Doesn't mean Canadian stuff isn't crap, but it's chassis is built Ford tough.
good analysis, and this is probably what will happen in Ukraine since the vehicles are given and are free and Ukrainians will not really treasure these "gifts"
I noticed the exact same thing. Not recovered properly, towed incorrectly. Basically ripped apart from the operator who was recovering it.
Lol Ford tough, just like the new Ford shitheap I once owned. Forever had problems until I sold it for something that was better quality
@@johnwhite9562 "The Ford shitheap." I have owned four. The one I am driving now, they parked in my driveway for me, while I was at work. Then later, after I had switched over, they came and picked up my '98 F150. Since that day almost exactly five years ago, I have changed the coil packs twice, the oil five times.
I am a carpenter and my hand delivered second hand 2014 F150 serves me very well. I think you are either too rough, too coarse, or too unlucky to have gotten the lemon. Based on your language and grammar, I'll put my money on #2, shitheap.
On the plus side if its off the shelf Ford then parts and the skills needed to fit them should be easy and fast to source, i guess sometimes in the real world 'imperfect but available and quick to fix' beats 'ideal but not enough'.
There hasn’t been a single case of a Ukrainian soldier dying in one of these due to shrapnel or gunfire. As for the mud just about every vehicle sent there gets stuck in that mud. They are built brand new and are not USED. Clearly they are not using it for the intended purpose and exceeding it’s design specs.

Having seen how the Ukrainians charge with their Humvees, it is no surprise that a Senator breaks every now and then! There was a new mine resistant version released 2 weeks back. I have not seen whether they upgraded the axles, etc.
After months of hard wartime driving conditions. There winter and mud seasons.
Exactly how many of the 200 Senator APC have broken down? Seem like clickbait if is only a few that broken.
I saw one, but the same one numerous times throughout the video.
One car disabled out of couple of hundred doesn't mean it is unable to serve it's purpose. They are providing adequate support to the Ukrainian that's for sure.
It's a counter insurgency vehicle, it's adequate for terrorizing civilians, especially Canadians, but it's not built to withstand heavy machine gun fire, let alone missiles, so it should never have been used as a frontline vehicle.
40-60 ton tracked vehicle with momentum easily clears a trench,. but the 8 ton 4 wheel vehicle it's towing doesn't and comes to a sudden complete stop. WTF does anyone think is going to happen? When an APC runs out of fuel in an active combat zone, do the tankers tell them "Hold on, back in 20!", or do they drag them the hell out?
looks like it was pulled out of the mud by much bigger vehicle and something broken getting violently dragged out, seen the same happen to trucks getting pulled out of mud.
Bro I thought it's for war but it's only for passengers😂
It's an armored utility vehicle, not meant to go offroad. Onba side note, that it was mud is pure speculation. Towing a vehicle can also lead to such failiures

Equality
What can you expect from a commercial Ford chassis, akin to a Humvee or Australian Bushmaster? LOL
Mocking is easy, but there were no real facts presented. What broke and why? It looks, as if the steering knuckles broke. 2 possibilities:
1. They weren't reinforced and are potentially to weak to bear the on top weight of the armour in heavy duty use.
2. There was something else (an explosive or mine) that overstretched the stability of the structure.
The first would be a constructional issue, the second: It's war.
No reason to mock about. Some weaknesses of fighting vehicles appear only in real use under extremest conditions. The manufacturer now surely knows, if there is an issue, he has to take care of or to improve on the delivered ones.

Calling it an APC is pretty generous. It's an armored truck. Not surprising that one broke down after possibly months of heavy use on unpaved roads. This is such a tough slog smashing thru these defense lines. Even if they are softened up before attacking it is still quite an ordeal.
They're actually not even near the first line of defense, they're having trouble even getting through the outposts and they're losing piles of men. By the time they get to the actual defenses, they'll have no men and no vehicles left. The only thing getting smashed is the Ukrainians. You know, when you see the Russians recreating the Battle of Kursk, in rather similar terrain, it's time to cal off the attack. The Germans kept pouring troops and tanks into Kursk and lost them, the Ukrainians are doing the same. May they rest in peace.
Hope you know that's an excuse
When people assumed too much for the vehicle provide by Western like even a missile didn't penetrate🤣🤣 what a kind of armoured is that?😂😂😂
These are obviously not front line tactical vehicles nor were they ever meant to be. They are invaluable in providing some semblance of protection for logistical supply and medivac. Does anyone know the actual background to this incident? They are not going to serve the Ukrainian Military for the next 10 years. If they last 50,000 km or even less they probably will have done their job.
Looks more like it hit a rock and transmission split in half? Still, it should be able to stand a mine, so not very good.
Towing can also cause such damage, if not done correctly. Also "withstanding mine" doesn't mean it's still fully functional after such a blow, it just means it can protect the crew from the explosion.

What are you trying to imply here? No explanation of what actually happened, no context? It's a light truck designed for light tactical support, transport and logistics. It's based on the Ford 550, upgraded with additional armor. It's not designed for frontline service.
Do the ukrainian soldiers know how and where to properly use these vehicles even?
It's not a very good thing to insult your allies who are providing you with free war materials and vehicles.
Not only that, but notice in the video there is a wire rope tow line with what looks like a tracked armoured vehicle. This implies to me the truck may gotten stuck and was towed out by the armoured vehicle, perhaps not being hooked up to the correct points and of just being yanked out as opposed to being eased out.
Also what is not explained is how the truck came to be like this. Is this a case like aircraft where the first response is it's always pilot error? So was the driver trying to jump the vehicle and landed on something? Drive badly or beyond the limit of any type of vehicle and damage will happen.

This APC is clearly built to look like it has an off-road capability, especially as we see the front tyres are given plenty of attack height. Looking up the F550, and assuming it's the 4x4 version, the front axle should be a Dana 60, which is good and reliable - for a light truck. Add a few tons of armour, and it won't be up for the job. A look at some pics of this APC doesn't even seem to show a Dana axle. If it's not for off-road use, it shouldn't give the false impression that it is. Can't blame the driver for not realising...
