My fiancee is disabled, and we've used the Xbox adaptive controller quite a bit since she got it. Wish we could on Playstation, but for that I've taken to popping the controller open and soldering pedal switches directly to the controller's board.
Right now, we have a dualsense with a more advanced mod I did - the adaptive triggers have their own daughterboards, and the beefy controller has a large cavity on both sides where the triggers ease into the handles. That gave me ample room to wire a 3.5mm mono jack to the daughterboard, after testing with a multimeter to see which solder points would actuate the trigger.
Unfortunately, this is only able to offer digital input (on or off) instead of full analog control. (off, on 1-100%) making games that use adaptive triggers to have the different points of a trigger do different commands entirely, such as Returnal aim/alt-fire, not work properly.
So I've got a Logitech adaptive controller kit coming soon, lots of little buttons for $100, and two analog pedals. However, the analog pedals don't use TS (mono) jacks. They use TRRS - so instead of tip and sleeve, it's tip, ring, ring, sleeve. I unfortunately have no idea if I can find 3 or 4 solder points on the dualsense trigger daughterboard to be able to get the analog pedal to work as an analog trigger, but if I can my next project is to repeat the modification I already did, but this time install 3.5mm TRRS jacks on both sides of the Dualsense controller, for both L2 and R2 analog input when plugged into an analog pedal.
Reasons we send Sony an e-mail every now and again like "y'know guys, it'd be real cool if you just allowed the xbox adaptive controller to simply work with your products..."

With this and the button add ins I can play more comfortably and not be as shaky when playing ❤️ i have to give a big thanks to special effect gaming charity for setting this up for me ❤️ the things you can do now with technology is just amazing ❤️

This is awesome, I know it’s not “new” at this point, but Ive only recently bought an Xbox. Setups still aren’t “cheap” but they are way more affordable now, and should be more accessible to lower income folk soon enough as it becomes cheaper for companies to include more players with different abilities. Awesome video too!

wow, i'm a connoisseur of controllers , i love trying out different types of controllers for my games, this got me thinking of building a custom made controller setup using the Xbox Adaptive Controller even though i'm perfectly fine using the standard xbox controller, but really kudos to Microsoft for making this so that people who have trouble using the standard controller enjoy games, nice video btw.

It's really comforting to know that if anything happens, and I can't game like I do today, it likely doesn't mean gaming is out of reach. Even now I'd really like to get one of these, to try it out and see if I can mix it into how I play. I look forward to updates!

This is awesome my brother has very little strength and mobility in his left hand and growing up he could game one handed easily on the nes and sega controller he did decent on the ps1 before they added the joysticks we use to coplay games on pc where he would move around and I would shoot and open doors. He got an Xbox series x recently and through mapping has been able for the most part play racing games and I had heard about this and after seeing this and how well you have managed I may be surprising him this Christmas with it. So glad someone in the gaming space is making gaming more accessible

Thank you very much for making this,..i had a stroke and lost use of my right arm 2 months ago.
    my setup,...
I ordered the foot plate that gives me WASD for left foot.
4 --3.5 buttons for the right foot,..
regular 3 button mouse for left hand.
Tomorrow is my birthday and it gets delivered in 2-3 days from now,.. im so excited!!!!
with over 400 game titles that i owned and I could no longer play makes the 314 bucks,i just spent to get em back doesn't seem that bad.

My brother is a one handed gamer too.
Bought him a xbox, the adaptive controller + stuff for Christmas, he’s loving it and I’m definitely hyped too.
Took us a while to get everything set up but it was worth the struggle, now he’s able to comfortably play a lot of games he couldn’t play before.
Biggest struggle for me was to buy all the extra sticks, buttons and the adaptive controller...Germany seems to be stuck in the stone age in terms of supporting handicapped people :(

My name is Phoebs Lyle, and I reviewed it on my channel. I don't have your disability, but I am paralysed from the neck down, and I can only do things with a chopstick, or other types of sticks such as styluses in my mouth. Like you, I feel like the Xbox Adaptive Controller has helped widen gaming out to people who can't play games in the same way as people who don't have any problems physically. I agree the setup depends on what game you're playing, but I use mine in Copilot with the XAC set up to act as RT and LT, with external switches acting as RB and LB. (This setup works with Minecraft and Lego games) and for Forza I have a switch behind my head, which I use as accelerate. I can break by just lifting my head. But Still looking for an option for shooting games and Assassin's Creed, so will gladly take any advice. (I can't use feet, legs or my hands or arms). Subscribed and will be looking out for future videos.

But when I saw that Microsoft was going out of their way to make affordable adaptive controllers for those who cant play on standard controllers, I immediately got huge respect for the company. I have a feeling gyroscope would help with shooters in cases like yours. Right stick inputs would be difficult for you. But I have a feeling moving the controller itself would help with aiming.
Though adding that now would be terrible. With the main xbox series x controller having no gyroscope, devs won't design gyro aiming for games on the xbox consoles. And have gyro aiming emulate a right stick is terrible

There's a better way for people that have full mobility in one hand.( Xim apex) and (Azeron)
You need the Xim Apex to connect the Azeron to any console or to use the Azeron as a Controller/PC Controller.
    the Azeron has...
1 analogue stick with a push button.
    1 D-pad with a push button.
6 buttons for your index finger.
5 buttons for your middle finger.
4 buttons for your ring finger.
4 buttons for your pinky finger.
Comes in left or right versions, Then co-pilot the Xim with the Xbox Adaptive Controller to use your arm for directional movement and pedals for triggers.

Have you ever asked Ben Heck to make a controller for you? He helped lots of people with one handed controllers.

Linux Tech Tips reviewed this and said something awesome. He's right, Microsoft will never make money on this, because the engineering that went into this will never be fully recovered. After seeing those ads, which kept showing up for me for some reason so I finally watched them, I knew immediately that no company that was truly as evil as has been said about Microsoft could make this. Why the hell didn't Apple do it? I'm starting to have some movement challenges, so I went ahead and bought one. Then I saw a video of someone playing a football game with his feet and kicking ass, playing with his toes better than I could have hoped to do with a standard controller even with full movement. Imagine what Stephen Hawking could have done with this. It's going to do more good than just allowing crippled kids to play games with their friends - this opens up a whole world of access to computers for all kinds of people. This could very well be as much of a game changer as the iPhone. This device is an act of love from Microsoft.

As a disabled gamer, I am so thankful to Microsoft for doing this. I know it was made to make money, but there are far easier ways to make money than highly custom things for disabled folk.

Great review. Ive been intrigued by these new controllers. I myself am pretty much mirror to yourself as im a left cong amp. To be fare im pretty much adapted though and whilst for myself these adapted controllers are prob not for me, i can see the benefits for those with more limited mobility ect. My main issue is lb lt buttons although a friend gave me an awsome 3d print lever mech so all 4 triggers can be accssed from my right hand. Which can also my switched to work for the left. Cost around £4 to print. Theres my problem. Whilst microsoft have made an effort its price point does seam too extreme to me to be labeled an aid. Sorry but cant help feel its a bit of cash in for Microsoft . I understand RAND D costs money but feel it will put alot of people off.. No offence

stumpyjut Good point about the price. As a regular two-hander, I had been thinking about this as a cool upgrade, more of a luxury, but I can see how the cost could be considered a barrier to entry instead. That lever mechanism sounds cool though, where did you find it online?

I'm similar to you, stumpy, and I have been gaming almost exclusively on a PC with an MMO mouse (Logitech G600). It does the trick, but there are some genres that it just doesn't work with. I can see how a set-up with these devices would open-up a lot of possibility, and maybe the price point will come down once the hardware has been out for a couple of years.
