I imagine the creators who put in so much work into the game. Then watching a review like this from a honest and harsh critic who gives it a great review. Must be very satisfying for them.

I am really proud with the guys. The game studio is based in my hometown. Some of them are my age and even though I don't know them personally, we were crazy about JA2 in my country (it was very popular in general), so I bet the devs in the studio were fans as well.

I still play Jagged Alliance 2. Nothing beats the top down isometric sprites view and awesome gameplay.

Haha enjoy low fps, bugs, crashes, pathetic XCOM style combat with enemies running through all map then shooting you 3 times in a head, absence of tactical pause and Bobby online shop or any other in-game shops, insane difficulty spikes from cake to pure nightmare and many other amazing things 😂

The game is WAY better to play than watch. I was actually pretty turned off of the game watching a stream of it. It seemed dull and basic. I tried it for myself and I love it.
Pretty hyped for this one, I was a big fan of the first two games many moons ago.
I do believe it is the same Moon.

I am literally 3 feet from boxed versions of JA1 and JA2 (I have about 10 games that I kept for nostalgia purposes and these are on that shelf). Can't wait to play JA3!

One of the great joys of this game is finding the mercs that aren't all THAT great but do specialize somewhat, and getting them to turn into complete badasses. Some die along the way, but then you have your hardened vets, and some super elite mercs you get to hire down the road when the cash is flowin well. I have been a JA fan since I got the demo CD in my PC Gamer mag. I'm so happy this is a good iteration. Buying it, NOW!
I liked JA1 and loved JA2, I'm so glad they could deliver on this. It really feels like a warm hug from my younger years.

I pre-order the game month before it's release. I waited it around 18-20 years for official JA3 game. I was blown away when I actually realize that the dev studio is actually not other than Hemimont which is located in my home city Sofia, Bulgaria, also the music producer of this game is also Bulgarian guy Georgi Strezov which is legend now. This is game is PERFECT! I cash in 25+ hours for just lest than 3 days , I majorly fail in the game, but I feel good about it , because I start over and will play this game again and again. Amazing review! And thanks to Hemimont for bring this very polished game.
Yes, finally. I was waiting for a good sequel after JA2. I have played that game multiple times, last year for the last time actually, there are some good mods for that old gem out there.
Game seems like a great hidden gem. Genuine fun, funny, and well made. Reason why indie and AA are better than AAA games is because they are made by devs that actually care about the game and the fans, like a passion project vs a giant company hell bent on taking advantage of their players to make money or push an agenda.
They have no luxury to play with agenda and many don't want to . Game suffers sales even when players don't complain about " obnoxious and forced stuff inside " but all see . We all crave authenticity , it is key for immersion .
Very often there are true veterans there also, who left toxic AAA to work in smaller studios, doing what they were doing back in the day. I woudn't be surprised if this was also true in this case.
They dont have wall street breathing down their neck.

I was playing Jagged Alliance 2 until I found XCOM and liked that it showed your hit%. Little did I know in XCOM you're point blank in an aliens face with 99% to hit and you just totally miss. I might come back to play this. It looks great.
Love XCOM but that has always been my biggest issue with it.

i hope this lives up to JA 2, i love having a small army in JA 2, this look like doing x-com small squad so of going back to JA 1 where you had 8 total on map.
You can have more than one group of Mercs, if you can afford it.
JA2 vanilla had a six member squad limit as well. It wasn't until the patches/mods that it got upped to 8. I feel like a lot of JA2 fans are being overly harsh about this great game because they compare it to JA2 after it had years of mods.

You got Steroid and Fox!! You need to get Grizzly, Wolf and Barry and you have my favorite team back!! (Havent played this one yet but Im sure they are there). Later, Fidel, Ivan, Magic... wow... what fond memories I have from JA2. Immersive, deep, challenging, great characters. I have waited for this one for so long. Thanks so much for your review Mack.

Jagged Alliance 2 is one of the best games ever made. it's been cursed with terrible sequels for 20 years. Good to see it finally broken.
God there's so many games coming out at the same time that I want to play. This, Remnant 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield just around the corner, plus the giant backlog of games I still havn't gotten to. I suppose it's a good problem to have, although I need more free time now.
I loved past Jagged Alliances from the early 2000s, and after this review, can't wait to play this one!
How are the RPG elements, is it similar to Expeditions: Rome (but of course in a modern setting)?
There's 2 things I need to know. 1) Does it have any battle cinematics? 2) Does it end, or is it sandbox?

Loved Jagged Alliance 2 and has been waiting for this. Was gonna hold on with buying till reviews were out. But this review changed my mind, bought it now even though I never pre-order.
EDIT: I have refunded now as it was not my cup of tea, it had to much of XCOM 2 in it and then I might just as well play… well… XCOM 2. But if others enjoy Jagged Alliance 3 that is great, and I wish the game succeeds in it’s sales. It is just not for me. Perhaps later when there is a sale.

If you love turn-based strategy games, then try Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 - the greatest turn-based strategy game of All-Time!
Another great one is Xenonauts, the spiritual successor to XCOM: Ufo defense. Xenonauts 2 is coming out this month aswell.
I only suggest playing the second one, because it blows my mind just all the incredible features and complexity of the interactions available in a game that old.
JA2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve been praying for months they do a good job with this.

Bit of a top down tactics renaissance going on this summer. Aliens: Dark Descent last month, Jagged Alliance 3 today, Xenonauts 2 next week, and Baldur's Gate 3 in Aug. Good times for fans of the genre!

Whoa, I had given up on the JA series revivals years ago after so many experiences with vaporware or released but unplayable sequels. Had no idea that a new one was coming, and both playable and good, and with the original characters!
Let's get real here, we all want to play our favorite action movie heroes in this game.
And this game gets extra points for some returning characters, good job.

Its funny you mention the humor in the game because the IGN review specifically mentioned the humor as being outdated and the reason the game did not receive a higher score lol!
Was bit sceptic at first buying this since it looked a bit blend and mainstreamed, but thankfully you changed my mind and bought it. Definitely having a blast playing this sequel as i did with the past ones and the different characters with their personalities made me laugh hard during the playthroughs

Funny, I have just spent the last two hours playing this and I'm not seeing what Mac sees at all, especially to give it a 9/10. I don't know if it suppose to grow on me or even get better later on but I have to make a choice, I'm at the refund deadline.

Jagged Alliance 2 was the first game I ever pre-ordered back in 1998. I am nowadays pretty much against pre-ordering, but then I saw that Ian Currie is actually advising the devs, and I knew it was going to turn out well.
Mack putting "I killed some dogs :(" right after i saw him kill some dogs in the game and was like oof that'd make me feel bad. I feel you Mack, game looks great though

I love how cast of characters are actually diverse here. "Diverse" not in the meaning of 2k 23 twitter-activists political agenda bullcrap, but more like 00's gaming normal human's "diverse". So good.
The game has its edges and the humour certainly isn't for everyone, but I am having the best time ever. It gives me a solid nostalgia flashback here and there, while I totally dig the combat and mechanics. On higher difficulty with permadeath the game is kinda brutal, but to me this is just perfection. Sometimes you really have to be creative how to handle a sticky situation so all the mercs you JUST got new contracts with dont die like flies. The fact that I got this game for under 30 bucks is just insane to me, because this already gave me more joy than any other release this year.
All I can say is that if you are on the edge of buying...it doesn't matter if you wait a bit longer. The game will get patched and (hopefully) run better on some systems. My rtx 3060 can handle it quite well, but I know many people have other aspirations when it comes to gaming. Also: the mod community probably will got nuts with this game. I can't wait on all the good ideas people will come up with. JA3 is already more than I hoped for after all those other miserable successors to JA2.

Sigh .. I got the same problem with this game as I did with Wartales, I never got past the first zone. I keep restarting and trying new team builds as well as different choices. It is so addictive to try out different things
OMG sure I had the 2nd one it was free with a pc magazine when they were a decent price unlike trying to afford a 2nd mortgage like today.
