I would actually say Type 2 is worse. It seems to be made of a softer plastic than the Type 1. For buildable figures, I came across a few issues: •The pieces are semi-flexible, meaning no stiff connection. •The pieces aren't correctly measured to fit on axels, meaning they can slip off half pins. (All my Type 2 gears I squished to avoid this issue) •Despite intending to be used for friction, they lose friction easily. It's depressing to know that my 2001 Lewa Mata has more friction in his gears than my 2015 Lewa-which can no longer hold up his axes for posing. I actually learned it's an unavoidable issue with molding. Not that the molding is worn down, but that the molds they're using are ineffective for the mass production they have. I have to be extremely careful with all of my Technic pieces, because every single one of them is like glass. They lose friction after a few uses or just break all together. The 2008 Lime Joints are nothing compared to the 90% of Technic pieces today.
type 1 is like regular steel, it just bends. Type 2 is more like hardened steel, it bends just a little with higher loads before it snaps. The two gears are similar but type 2 is a little stronger. For the ultimate test; try using the type 2 in the press. I really love this channel and it serves a purpose more than entertaining people; It shows the limits of Lego pieces which is really good. Keep on doing what you're doing :)
@@jakubpollak2067 It would've snapped anyway. Type 1 has its teeth only in the middle but the type 2 has the base of its teeth span the entire width of the gear, thus spreding the load more evenly.
@@unogazzy84 I also think they are not from same plastic, I have few type1 and few type2 cogs and all type 1 are solid, while type 2 are more like hardened rubber, than plastic, maybe it is just me, idk
@@jakubpollak2067 I just made an unscientific experiment... I took the smallest Knipex Cobra plier I own and crushed one type 1 and one type 2 cog. I immediately noticed that the type 2 cog was way easier to crush than type 1. Theory 1: Leverage could be the reason. Because the teeth on the type 2 are reinforced, they act as levers which make the body of the cog buckle under the pressure. Theory 2: They're made with different plastic.
You know this man is dedicated to the craft when he sacrifices his own well being by stepping on a Lego piece,on purpose, for the sake of our viewing pleasure. Thank you good sir, thank you.
if you let it dry, then it'll probably break whatever the gear is in; if on the teeth, it might break through it and operate normally. if on the axle, then it's kind of fucked.
Type 1 took 17 frames to deform dramatically enough to stop working, whereas type 2 took 25 frames to deform then 46 to break. I think you should re-visit this test between .36-.60 Nm.
Out of question are there any sensors or measuring instruments this channel is in need of? I'm not sure if I'll be able to help too much but I'm an electrical engineer with some tools at home so if you let me know what you need it's possible I can help.
"Spur Gear, I find you guilty of being an absolute NIGHTMARE to stand on, abs hereby sentence you to death by the cruelest of all Lego torture devices: the stress tester!"
It was a staged stunt. Proper planning and equipment can greatly reduce the risk of maiming and/or death. For instance, inside the sock, there is a thick metal plate which can absorb the worst of the pressure. In addition, there's a wire rig hidden off camera that supports most of the stunt man's weight, giving the illusion of him stepping on the lego when in reality he's only barely touching the ground. Still, even with all this equipment (including a couple things I didn't mentiion), stepping on a Lego is a dangerous stunt, and should be attempted only by a professional under tightly controlled circumstances. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
@@HistoryUnwound I bet it makes a HUGE difference whether the lego in question is sitting on carpet or on hard floor. On carpet, the piece can just dig into the carpet, leaving your foot unscathed. On a hard surface....
I love this content!! Ngl I wish somehow one of these days they'll make some metal Lego pieces to help with your experimentation, like imagine the resiliency of those pieces and what you could achieve, this is really cool keep it up!!!
Hey man, what's that paper technique that you used with the gear racks? I've seen you use that before but I'm not sure what's the benefit of it, can you explain please? I'm curious.
It was done in the previous video, lego press, th-cam.com/video/DLxw6x9lTwM/w-d-xo.html . The purpose was to reduce slipping by making the gears grip tighter. Watch the video for details.
When the gear was destroyed, it fired away so quickly that in the next frame it is completely out of shot. However, it did leave a trace of pre-capture detection... on the 1st frame after disappearance, on one of the gears, there is blurring where the gear surely passed thround the line of sight during the recording of the frame.
This guys steps on a Lego and his first instinct is to test it's strength to the limits until it inevitable breaks via a complex, reinforced Lego stress tester

The sound of the time lapse building is so satisfying
The most interesting part of this video is that when the gear dont handle to much load ,it just vanishes from the universe
"How to abuse a lego gear"
Alternative title: man tortures lego wheel for it having him step on it
The results were very surprising! loved this!
The beginning makes me wonder, how many legos has this man stepped on...
the advantage to type 2 that I've seen is that it can't sink into the pin holes.
@1:55 Even when slowing down the video to 0.25 playing speed, the gear still oofs out of existence instantly!!!!!!
I used the < and > keys to scrub through the video frame by frame and the gear is still gone instantly.
Yes. I this comment is a year old.
Just a guy watching a guy out stress on the smallest Lego part
I love the sound of the build, really satisfying
The little “hmph” is so satisfying and I don’t know why
I dunno if a lego gear could handle my LOAD if you catch my drift
if you let it dry, then it'll probably break whatever the gear is in; if on the teeth, it might break through it and operate normally. if on the axle, then it's kind of fucked.
If its any consolation at least it can handle your axle with that hole
Are you even old enough to be on here kid?
There's a door. Be so kind and shut it from the outside.
Sorry you didn't like the joke :/
0:02 R.I.P your foot 😭
😂😂😂
Type 1 took 17 frames to deform dramatically enough to stop working, whereas type 2 took 25 frames to deform then 46 to break. I think you should re-visit this test between .36-.60 Nm.
I like that this channel has its goofs but also stays calm and interesting
This man be like lego star wars
1:54 instant transmission
I like how whenever he builds something it makes lego asmr noises
EDITOR: So how much should it sound like ASMR?
BRICK EXPERIMENT CHANNEL: Yes.
Legos: Feet are our target
People: I know I put my 2x2 piece some where
I like the story line of this one. A man taking out sadistic revenge on a small piece of plastic
Out of question are there any sensors or measuring instruments this channel is in need of? I'm not sure if I'll be able to help too much but I'm an electrical engineer with some tools at home so if you let me know what you need it's possible I can help.
0:07 thats already abuse to the gear
i think that the only advantage of the type 2 is, that it can be driven in a 90° combination. i hope that makes sense ^^"
will have to try that at some point.
"Spur Gear, I find you guilty of being an absolute NIGHTMARE to stand on, abs hereby sentence you to death by the cruelest of all Lego torture devices: the stress tester!"
I never knew the building sound effects in game are actually realistic speed up sounds of Lego being built
That grunt at 0:04 sounds familiar...
Oh my god, is this a secondary channel for How To Basic?
Edit: Oh my god he did it again at the end!
it sounds more like buttered side down
Glen Ritta BSD sounds like HTB, so....
BEC is HTB confirmed
1:54 Even if you watch this slowmo in 0,25 the gear disappears
1:54 ladies and gentleman, we found Goku.
I love how he steps on the lego brick and is like: So you have chosen death.... And proceeds to put the gear in the brick killer :P
Lets not forget he sacraficed his foot for this video.
R.I.P. foot
How did you survive stepping on a lego???
You could have DIED!!!1!!!!11!!
Why do people say that all the time? I step on them all the time, and it doesn't hurt at all!
@@HistoryUnwound Some people step lightly and some do not. Those better ones are legoproof, and the worse ones get hurt. Get better!
@@HistoryUnwound I bet it makes a HUGE difference whether the lego in question is sitting on carpet or on hard floor. On carpet, the piece can just dig into the carpet, leaving your foot unscathed. On a hard surface....
Rookie stuff. Try kneeling right on a cage nut!
1:55 *nani?!*
1:53 (time stamp for me)
Love how he went through the pain of stepping on legos just to make the intro, lol.
The gear rack comes closer to the gear to reduce play and to prevent slipping.
It was done in the previous video, lego press, th-cam.com/video/DLxw6x9lTwM/w-d-xo.html . The purpose was to reduce slipping by making the gears grip tighter. Watch the video for details.
UsernameGeri it also increase friction between the Lego parts so it stays together better
Thanks guys!
I like the idea behind it, but It seems like cheating...
0:02 a pigman lool
Tee semmone laite jossa on iha sikana noita rattaita vierekkäin et jos vaikka laittaa paperii sen välii nii se menee silpuks.
Mä tein mursksimen joka tuhos melkein mitä vaan. Purin sen... Ja ei en tee Lego videoita...
The way you speed up your builds is like seeing a building sequence in one of the LEGO video games
2:10
*h m p h !*
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This guys steps on a Lego and his first instinct is to test it's strength to the limits until it inevitable breaks via a complex, reinforced Lego stress tester
The snapping of the lego gear was clean.
Man stepped on a small lego gear and built a machine to get revenge by destroying it.
I love how not even the high speed camera caught the disappearance of the gear.
8 tooth gear: *why do I hear boss music?*
