The All Souls trilogy is one of my favorites, and each season of the show follows a book, i.e. season 1 follows book 1, etc. I think the show is great as well, but definitely read the books first. Enjoy!! Also The Wishing Game is so good! It’s found family, and the story is so magical, and it would be a perfect fall read!!
Yess, there are so many fans of the All Souls trilogy, I’m glad to finally understand the hype! Thanks for letting me know how the show is structured so I can safely watch season 1. I actually watched the first episode last night☺️
A really simple way to fix a broken spine is to add a good coat of Elmer's glue to the spine, press it back into the cover, and let it sit spine down tightly supported by other books for a day until it dries. Be careful the first time you turn the pages, just in case it cracks again, but it should hold up for you.
@@anabruns No problem! I hope it works. If youd like to reinforce it a bit, just add a piece of cardstock along the spine over top of the split. Just be sure to make it wide enough to cover a portion of the page too so it adds stability.
Ahh now I really want to read it! I’ve heard so many great things. If no one else gets in line for it, I might be able to check it out again on Libby once I’ve finished the other books!
@ the author mentions early on that she was either going to school for botany OR poetry and it’s pretty clear in the writing - this isn’t just a typical non-fiction book, she’s definitely very gifted in her prose and storytelling. I also really recommend the audiobook, as the author narrates and you can really hear her connection to the subject matter. Plus she has a beautiful voice
Ooh okay great to hear! I did end up starting that one before Happy Place because I was more excited for it haha, and I’m liking it so far. Which other Fredrik Backman book did you pick up?
@anabruns Haha, great choice I think. I have read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry, Britt-Marie Was Here (I enjoyed this one a lot), and Anxious People. Now, I want to get the Beartown trilogy.
@@rebeccaaguilar3361 Okay wow you've read a lot of his work!! I've heard a lot of positive things about Anxious People, I might have to read that one next :)
Ove is actually pronounced oo-veh. Jane Eyre will always be a favorite of mine. It's so well written, and one can't help but root for Jane the whole novel through.
Thanks, yes I realize now that I started the audiobook haha. And I completely agree about Jane Eyre - her character was so engaging and it’s a story that I believe will stick with me for a long time
Yes I’m hoping to be able to get to more than two of those books! Happy Place and A Man Called Ove are decently short, so I might have time for another before they’re all due🤞🏼
Hello again Anna I got curious of the series you were talking about and I went straight to Netflix to watch it and now I’m hooked lol😅so far it is very interesting.
Ahhh that’s awesome!! I actually just started the show last night, got two episodes in☺️ it’s not as good as the book so far ( what adaptation ever is), but I’m excited to keep watching it!
I used to be a librarian and we used Elmer’s glue. Add a very thin layer of glue to the spine. Press firmly to attach and then use rubber bands to hold it together. Leave it to sit for 24-48 hours. It won’t hold permanently, but it’s an easy fix that can help hold it up. Plus you can always do this if it happens again.
This is such an approachable solution, thank you!!☺️ I might do this for now until it breaks again or I have the motivation to go for a more intense re-binding.
A Discovery of wither and Jane eyre are both on my tbr :D Hope to get to them...soon-ish :D If we were villains if one of my favourites, hope you'll have a good time with it 🤞 Ah that academia washi set is gorgeous, I keep putting it into my cart and then taking it away every time I order from their site 😅
Ooh yes I hope you can get to them soon as well! If we were villains is probably my highest priority of the rest of my fall TBR. I’ve been meaning to read it ever since last fall and I’m determined not to let this season pass before getting to it! Haha and I understand about the tapes - there’s too much beautiful stationery out there how are we supposed to choose?!
I read Jane Eyre in high school, even did my senior term paper on it, and I remember so little about it. But Charlotte is the best of the Brontes for obvious reasons. 😊
Oh that’s cool! It’s always interesting the certain things we remember from school-assigned reading😅 hahaha and I can see why you’d be partial to Charlotte
Ooh yes, I’d highly recommend, especially if you already liked the show!! I’m actually a few episodes in now and it’s.. okay! I like the book way better (so far at least- I’m going to keep watching!)
If i'm not mistaken is seems the back endpaper tore, so I would buy some binding tape (it's a useful to have when you're into crafting and notebooks even if it's a bit pricey) and just reconnect the two end papers. It should be strong enough. I wouldn't glue the signatures to the spine, because in a hard back they're usually not glued down to the cover, only attached to it with the end papers.
Long comment incoming because I have Things To Say 😅 One of the reasons I love your reading journal videos is because you often talk about books or authors that I’ve been eyeing 😂 The Covenant of Water is on my TBR, I started The Wishing Game but had to return it to the library (the wait is LONG 😭), and I’ve read Anxious People, by the same author as A Man Called Ove. Based on my experience with Anxious People I’d vote for A Man Called Ove. I’ve had wildly mixed feelings about Emily Henry books, but I think Beach Read is the one by her I liked best, so if you do decide to read Emily Henry and can get it from the library I’d recommend that over Happy Place. I’ve also resolved to read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights in 2024 and this was really motivating to start them next (after I finish all three books I’m currently reading 😅) Also it’s fun to guess which class you’d pick for each Harry Potter book and see whether or not I was right 😂
Haha I always love your comments!! I think I’ve said it before - we definitely have a very similar reading taste! I’m excited for you to also read the Brontë sisters and curious what you’ll think! And good tip about Beach Read. If that one happens to be available on Libby I will try to read it instead. I feel like most people I follow who read romance have tended to like that one better as well. I already have all the Hogwarts classes picked out for each book😅 you’ll have to let me know if they match up with your guesses haha!!
Oh also! I did start A Man Called Ove and am liking it so far. (Ending up going with that one first bc I was avoiding Happy Place haha). Anxious People is his other book that’s been on my radar, so I might have to read that one next! Going on my Libby holds now
Hi Anna where did you purchased the Liene PixCut S1 Photo Sticker Printer and Cutter? I’m interested to know about the product because it’s too much to use a regular printer because of the ink.
Hey there! :) The PixCut S1 was sent to me by Liene. It is available on Kickstarter, and here's the link to their page: kck.st/4esL47m. (For transparency - this link is trackable to me by Liene, but it's not affiliate so I don't earn any commissions.) I think their kickstarter launch might have just ended, but you could always reach out and see if Liene could give you an estimate of when the product is launching on their website and/or Amazon store! I'm not sure of that timeline. Hope this helps :)
@@anabruns thanks for the information. I went to their website last night and yes it ended already. The expensive one is still available but the $199 and the $499 are all sold out. Yes I might wait on that through Amazon.
I can't believe your A&O journal broke! That is so sad! As far as Happy Place goes, it was probably my least favorite Emily Henry book and I've read most of her books, so don't feel bad if you don't love it. I did love A Man Called Ove though, I listened to it as well and I just really really enjoyed it.
I know I can’t believe it either!! I haven’t tried to repair it yet but hopefully I can do something🤞🏼 I’ve gotten a few comments about happy place not being people’s fave Emily Henry book so maybe that’s a bad place to start😂 I put a few of her other ones on hold, and if any are available before I’m starting my next listen, I’ll listen to a different one instead. But even if I end up doing happy place, good to keep in mind that it might not be her best! I’m almost done listening to A Man Called Ove and really enjoying it🥺 glad you liked it too!!
I really love the All souls trilogy and have usually been rereading them during autumn (usually oct and nov). But I have to say I HATED the tv-series, I was so disappointed since I love the books so much. Probably because I pictured the characters totally different in my mind but also because so much from the books was lost in the tv-adaptation. I understand that it's impossible to do a precise adaptation but still, it wasn't my cup of tea. I watched all three seasons but it's not a series I will re watch, that's for sure 😅.
Oh yay, great to hear from an All Souls fan! They really are perfect books to read right now. That’s so sad about the show- when you love a book so much, the adaptations can never quite do it. I actually started the show yesterday! It’s okay so far but I think a little over-dramatized😅 and yeah the story feels to be progressing too fast. It’s so hard to convey all the subtleties and depth that books contain
Pre-warning on Wuthering Heights: If you did not like the romance in this book the romance in that one is far far worse. The only thing I really remember about the book is the romance giving me massive ICK. If I wasn't reading it for a class it would have been a DNF because of the romance.
Thank you for the warning! I can now go into it not expecting anything from the romance. Hopefully the writing and other components of the story can make up for it like in Jane Eyre. We’ll see🤞🏼
Yeahhh I actually stopped watching after episode two🫣 the romance already felt hurried and it was too overdramatized imo. But I’m excited to continue the book series!
