    Love your videos LM.... nothing not to like about big machinery and someone who knows how to operate it properly!

    the squeaky steering is usually where the steering column goes through the rubber boot on the cab floor. just poke a screwdriver down the inside of it and give er a squirt of oil/grease.

    I wear earplugs any time I'm working now. Especially running equipment. That's an interesting setup, the manual gear box.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't tend to bother now. Too many hours on D8's and sat behind a Rolls-Royce Merlin ! If I'm on a road roller or breaker I'll use earplugs.

      Yes it will be cheaper and to be fair, it's just like most of the JCB's in the last 30 years.

    Very true on the basement dwellers, there is so much great channels on TH-cam to learn new stuff on. I don't know why people need to be negative. Do all those JCBs have squeaking steering columns ? Or just the way it was designed on that model?

    When using the forks are you able to see the ends for going into pallets etc? I built a set for our old backhoe that attach by tilting the bucket but you can't see the forks past the bucket. Makes loading difficult

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Don because you open the clam so you can see the forks right in front of you when you roll the bucket forward (back blade is flat/horizontal and the clam/forks are at 90 degrees to this)

      I was being really picky Cynthia, in all honesty it is a great machine but I guess I was spoiled with the Contractor model.
      Take care and thanks for watching !

  • @MalcOfLincoln
    @MalcOfLincoln 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So other than you have to change gear, it's slow, noisy, with a squeaky steering wheel, everything's ok lol. Could be worse, you could have bought it Kurt.....always a bright side :)

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In fairness Malc it's a decent enough machine locally, just not ideal for lots of roadwork which we do.

    • @MalcOfLincoln
      @MalcOfLincoln 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes totally understandable. Yet 30odd years ago, if someone had given you that to use other than what was available at the time, you'd have been over the moon.

    great vid but that noisy steering is really annoying looks like you need long arms for the box have you had any storm damage

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've got some hand cream that I'll shove round the plastic bush that's squeaking. Horrible noise !

  • @wyattoneable
    @wyattoneable 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It didn't sound too loud for the video. Is it more quiet once you've stopped and just working the bucket?

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest David once she warmed up a bit on the road she settled down a lot. She's not a bad machine and I rather like it but I miss the road speed.

    • @wyattoneable
      @wyattoneable 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My tractor stays on property and if it is moved it goes on a flat trailer. I never really thought about road speed but I see your point.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to run material from one part of the site to another, move between jobs etc and with a 25 mph road speed that's no bother but any less becomes a chore.

  • @MrPaul1f
    @MrPaul1f 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This jcb reminds me of the old project 12 I mentioned I had a brief stint on, noisy and slow, manual shift too lol, I'd be right at home except for the joy stick control and I'll wager the ac works! Could you do a vid on the cab view when using the pallet forks, I've always wondered how easy/clumsy these are to use and not operating for long I never needed to try them. I know on sites I've worked on most operators are reticent to lift anything with the forks but this could be out of laziness rather than an actual awkwardness/difficulty of actually using the forks.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funnily enough Paul I was thinking this morning that I'll do a bit on the flip over forks as Don had asked earlier about them.

  • @sawsurgeon
    @sawsurgeon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    How dare you offer your opinion? And on your own channel as well! We all tend to get spoiled with the creature comforts! You pretty much spelled it all out. Price point. The manual gearbox draws less power from the engine, so they are able to spec a smaller engine to propel it. The manual gearbox is generally cheaper as well.You said yourself that the backhoe portion works fine, so they have provided sufficient horsepower to run the main hydraulic pump which powers that end fine.So for a contractor that is using the unit say at one site or is transporting it via truck/trailer it is a more affordable way to go.Love the opportunity to see stuff I wouldn't ordinarily get to run. Thanks for posting!

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a 3CX that most of us would recognise, it was a wonderful machine when compared to something like a Project 12. I had someone tell me the other day that I shouldn't give opinions on chainsaws as I wasn't a 'professional logger'...
      I own about 7 saws so I've got a pretty good idea of what I do and don't like ! The guy may well have had a wife and a great sex life but it doesn't stop him being a W*nker !

    • @sawsurgeon
      @sawsurgeon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aye, you have a point there! I'm good with opinions... Sometimes! I am enjoying the content you're posting. I just noticed a picture of a video with you in a cockpit and you dropped the name "Merlin"... I'm heading for that video right about now! Thanks again for posting!

  • @dunc1958

    that gearshift doesn't look very convenient, maybe JCB has done it on purpose so that when the customer tries the auto version they're sold in an instant?

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's no different to what they've always offered but you'd think they'd mount it nearer the seat. The powershift is a nice box.

      To be fair it's no slower than the old Grey cabs or a Project 12 etc, it just seems slow when compared to that Contractor.
      Couldn't fault it for grunt and pushing power.

      They soon get their fortune told here. It's you guys that comment and offer advice and experience on Wade and CT3's channel who I feel bad for. If they joined in they could learn from you all but instead they choose to sit there all full of spite and jealousy, holding their thumb over the end while they have a danger w*nk...

  • @super6954

    Hi You really don't like that digger do ya, There's this horrified look on your face that kind of says "I'd rather get caught driving a ford 550" L.O.L atleast it's only the steering wheel squeaking it could be the seat as well. The whole problem with a lot of trolls is they got no life and experience in anything useful. They pick on the ones that do have a fair clue about something or can actually get off their @$$e$ and physically do the job Thats easier than learning.
    I found a good Sim warrior video the other day while looking at real JCB stuff, the guy put a 3cx on a building flat roof with the front bucket and the backhoe. I don't know if he realized in real life it would fall through, or if he thought it would be that easy to do it with a real machine sitting in the seat. Like you said before those Sim "Games" make a whole lot of experienced equipment operators or farmers with no real clue to that comment.
    Thanks for the PM reply I'll get back to you soon on some of that. Thanks also for todays video it was still good even with a junk digger.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now..... if it had been a Ford 550 or 555 you wouldn't have been able to watch the video as it wouldn't have been fast enough to capture the shot !
      Man those Fords were quick !
      Many, many years ago I spent some time on a 555 with the extradig (which had the sock slide out, not the inside like JCB and Case) I must say I liked them and wouldn't say no to one.

    • @super6954
      @super6954 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You got a newer JCB coming and the 3c3. I see a collection of diggers starting here , since I ribbed you about driving a 550 L.O.L. Now that would be a video comparing the Ford and the JCB of the same age.
