Good Video LM I wouldn't mind spending the day sitting in that thing, look's so much more comfortable and advanced to the smaller 2cx I use on a daily basis
They are Kurt, it get's the job done and admit-tingly that 4cx would be far too big for what we need but it sure would be nice to have some of them comforts in it like what yours has especially the seat control joysticks that looks a big improvement over the old rear console/levers . one question tho does the 4cx have a vertical backhoe latch/lock like a 2cx has if so how do you lock it now that the rear console has gone?
I'm currently waiting on a quote for one of these with a full Engcon kit for full control while rear facing...Can't wait, this thing looks absolutely fun.
Excellent video, very informative and well explained, the machine is obviously well specified so you did a great job of ordering the right tool for your job. Thanks for posting
What a machine you have there Lord Muck I used to drive a 4cx on a j plate that was a good machine especially in 4 wheel drive pushing into piles but what you have is world's apart from that old girl great stuff.
Coffee maker and heated seat. More like an office than a digger but, spending 8/10/12+ hrs a shift in it, it is a work station/ home. Mr Bamford would be very pleased how his invention has progressed and a world leader in it's field.
Really enjoyed that video, so much I didn't know about the 4cx great stuff, it's a cry shame that there isn't a big demand for the conventional JCB , now we have mini 360 diggers and grab lorries, I see far too many of the 3CX diggers just parked up. Great video all the very best, regards Kevin Fox, Essex.
Very interesting. Massive looking machine .Nice to have the clearance under it to grease it.We use a 2CX Airmaster on farm work feeding cattle etc. Very maneuverable but a pig to grease the drive shafts and pivots underneath.
Those lock&lube grease gun ends are handy aren’t they! Especially for a handle type grease gun! I had the pleasure of operating a 4cx for a little while, great piece of kit, even had some time in a sand quarry with it pushing up loads from volvo A35’s, it didn’t bat an eye lid. Great vid mate Jonny
Hi Lord she's a bute, I toyed with buying an older 4cx or an american spec before I got my old machine, I was going to use it as digger and loader for barn cleaning with a big grapple fork like my buddy does with his forestry spec Valtra x120 . There is a lot of those 4x4x4 over here aren't worth much for a good reason guys beat the crap out of them, but buying their issues scared me with the 4 wheel steer and other worn out bits !. I guess JCb's repeating history. In 1973 Mum and Dad had the house built I grew up in, the brand new 3c that dug the septic tank had a kettle in it way back then !. Don't cut those other legs up i'd bet in 40 years somebody will be dragging them out the hedge as a rare part if somebody ever restore one L.O.L, Thanks for sharing looking forward to see it working. Take care
Hi looks a sound machine I don't use my old sitemaster enough to warrant such an investment though,I had the smooth ride system retro fitted to my old sitemaster what a great mod worth every penny
Your right about the old deutz engines worked with a mastenbroke land drainage machine that had one in it, man was that thing loud on full chat probably one of the many machines that have helped to make me a bit mutton and Jeff lol
Great video, such a lovely looking machine. Plenty of room around the floor for a big ass lunch box. Next time you you use the coffee maker take a video of it working. Could you please explain, do you own your own plant business or do you work for or with somebody else?
Thats cool. Especially the teasmade. Do I want to know what that would set me back? Did jcb ever find a way to get one to tow a trailer so it could transport all it's own attachments?
Great video ! The JCB have come a long way with there spec bet its some beast to operate ? Are the levers set to operate like a 360 + pattern or are they still 180 + pattern instead of the x 180 head-scratcher !! Brilliant job
So there's no way to control the front and back at the same time due to being on the same control leavers? That might make life a bit difficult if you get it propper stuck in the mud!
Ha. Been there done that -facing forward steering in gear while twisted around operating the hoe to help push out of deep mud or crazy sidehill situation
Holy crap those baby's are nice. Had a mid-80s 3cx sitemaster that was a marginal machine - developed tons of leaks in the valve body - wasn't designed for contractors - was really only suited for farm use for long-term durability (for which any old machine will work). Crap like a hot water maker is just something to break. How much did that cost? Think we bought the Sitemaster extendahoe for $65K including several buckets and a hydraulic breaker. We later added a drill motor for drilling piers and a vibraplate. The hydraulics weren't up to the task and the machine took a beating after only several thousand hours. Perkins engine was strong and had no issues. Dunno if I'd buy another.
Hot water maker is very simple so not much to break ! Vibrating plates, breakers etc are all hard on any machine. New ones have JCB's own engine and I have to say they are a good unit. JCB are really pushing in the US and Canada so I'd say if you were looking for a new one then try one when you try all the rest.
Not gonna bash jcb at all, they have been the market leader for back hoes for the last 40 years or so, but in my experience the new holland' s hydraulics are second to none. Last one I drove was running a tar planer on the back actor and the machine hardly knew it was there. Also could shove for days with the front loader.
I have a question in relation to greasing the propshafts, why do you grease the niple for the telescopic splines?. I ask as when I had my fastrac I was told by my local dealer not to use that niple and to remove the prop to grease the splines, reason being that niple is for jacking the universal joint off the propshaft and using that grease point only puts pressure on the diff and gearbox output shafts. Oh all so the splines are Teflon coated so don't require regular greasing.
As the axles move the prop lengthens and shortens and the splines slide up and down just like on a PTO. This is why you grease the splines. We sometimes extend the shaft and grease all the splines to ensure they get grease evenly. If I had a local dealer that had told me that, I'd change dealers...
@@LordMuck lol. Up here in MA. We need it. I remote start my truck before I go out plowing. Figured if it had a coffee maker it'd have remote start :-)
Jcb has definitely got a good backhoe. Love the equal tires and 4 wheel steering.
You'd love the road speed and the SRS Tim.
Good Video LM I wouldn't mind spending the day sitting in that thing, look's so much more comfortable and advanced to the smaller 2cx I use on a daily basis
2CX are a great bit of kit for the job they're designed for.

There's a pull toggle so bring the arm right up to unlatch or lock.

Glad you enjoyed it Joe.
Very interesting, looks a good bit of kit!
Very versatile tractor and some nice maintenance instruction. Have a great week.
Cheers Lloyd, have a great week.
Just treated myself to the Dewalt grease gun and G coupler. Really makes life easy. Shoots that blue grease out like a teenager stuck in his bedroom.

Wow nice looking equipment I would be lost running something that I wasn't scared was going to fall over or brake down .stay safe get logs
Hahah ! Stay safe bud !

Ironically I do use it as an office while I’m on site.
That's a nice bit of kit, surprised how smooth SRS is!
Be seeing you! 👌
That’s a fantastic piece of kit.
I'm sold on the coffee maker!!! Nice machine for sure!
Good video muck and what a great machine, at that spec definitely a owner operator machine.
Very nice JCB coffee maker is what got me .,lol
Gotta have a brew Paul !
Like the hot drinks maker hopefully they will start putting those in the tractors
I love a tractor with lots of options. That's a beauty!
It's alright for you David - you get hostess service !
A hot totty on a cool day..lol Love that machine..Too cool..
Not as cool as your truck Cynthia... have a great week !
lol..Too funny..You as well..

We see the 4CX at work only on pole planting duties for the power company.
Great Video!!
Perfect way to inspect/service.

Yes that's right they did an actual plug in kettle for the older 3C !
Another excellent video, mug of tea please!!
Good video muck nice to see the 4cx
Cheers Al.

SRS transforms a machine Nick.
Jeaus could do with that tea machine. Hell of a job Kurt
Some machine eh Mickey ?
Looks a very nice digger
Most impressive, I shall be interested to see it working
It's a good machine Dan.
Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it Clint.
That's a well put together machine, quite a difference between the sitemaster and wastemaster, I still can't get over the coffee/tea maker lol!
Just trying to work out how to get a frying pan in there for bacon butties !
Must be rough, especially on cold mornings 😁
Podge greasing underneath is it possible to get a hydraulic failure whilst under there, looks a bit hairy ,,
Nope. Check valves plus a lump of timber under the front stops any of that plus it’s still 3 feet off the ground when stood down.
Your right about the old deutz engines worked with a mastenbroke land drainage machine that had one in it, man was that thing loud on full chat probably one of the many machines that have helped to make me a bit mutton and Jeff lol

Sure is nice to use Mike
I was wondering about the front end getting high enough that’s a neat attachment
looks nice

I have my own plant and kit but the 4CX work is a joint venture with my mate Rob.
Lord Muck Ah right
Another fine machine! Great video review indeed!
Great video mate 👍
Cheers Ben, glad you enjoyed it.
Very good video.
Thats cool. Especially the teasmade. Do I want to know what that would set me back? Did jcb ever find a way to get one to tow a trailer so it could transport all it's own attachments?
Towing behind a digger brings up all sorts of legalities.
Hey buddy you look as legit as it gets
Luxury compared to the JCB 4 I learned to drive in the early 60s
Great video ! The JCB have come a long way with there spec bet its some beast to operate ? Are the levers set to operate like a 360 + pattern or are they still 180 + pattern instead of the x 180 head-scratcher !! Brilliant job
Controls are just like a 360.
Great Video as always Kurt, Hope all has been going great for you

Hey Garry, I've been watching whats happening, think we need a chat to see if more pressure can't be applied mate...
Brother that would be awesome, you still have my email garryherbert4@gmail.com
Thanks so much for your time Matey

Just a little better than the 3c eh kurt
Yes - I haven'f got the tea maker in the 3C....
what a tool, in a good way
It's a great machine Paul.
wow! you can make your own tea! or coffee. I guess you could warm soup or stew in it too?
Easier to dump a tin of soup on the manifold for the morning !
Lord Muck ahh OK. don't want to put it on to soon and blow it up like that chipper guy hahaha
I love JCB
Good video, I was gonna ask why the longer jack legs but you’ve answered that. Do they use loadall axles on the 4CX ?.
I would say they're more than likely similar, yes.
So there's no way to control the front and back at the same time due to being on the same control leavers?
That might make life a bit difficult if you get it propper stuck in the mud!
Yes not like the older machines but you can over-ride it to some degree
Ha. Been there done that -facing forward steering in gear while twisted around operating the hoe to help push out of deep mud or crazy sidehill situation
Great video as always! Only question is, does the coffee/tea maker put out proper hot water or hot-ish water like you get out the tap?
Very hot. I'm hoping to install a chocolate vending machine next...
Good to know, I wouldn't expect any less from JCB as it's a British company. Of course it makes hot-hot water!

Very interesting video. What engine is she running?
JCB engine, just over 100hp
I hope that is JCB HP Special Grease Kurt ;) (guess who I work for :) )
Yes it is, the Blue.
Wow what a Cadillac of a machine. How much does that weigh sitting the way you had it?
CT3 asked me that one day so I looked and it’s just under 10 ton !
Would that be this week's teabag or last week's in the water heater ? 😆
Only the best my boy, only the best.

There’s a lot of bells and whistles on that thing
Are you lincolnshire. You sound it
Is the Wastemaster the top of the range 4cx then?
Yes, it's the top of the range Back Hoe Loader and is now called the 5CX
Lord Muck....what powers that 4CX?
JCB's own engine
I always thought it was the 5CX that was a wast master not the 4cx
If you ordered one today, it would be badged as a 5CX yes.
No remote start?
Yes.
I send my butler out and he fires it up for me.
(You can have a remote start in cold climates)
@@LordMuck lol. Up here in MA. We need it. I remote start my truck before I go out plowing. Figured if it had a coffee maker it'd have remote start :-)
Yes they do a block heater and remote start for colder climates.
Where abouts are you in MA ?

@@LordMuck I'm looking at a used one 2008 for sale. I had a Napco Crab which had the same steering features in 1965.
best feature is the coffee maker!
