Thank you all for ALL the comments and ideas for other snacks! If you do choose to send some more my way, please know that I may not be able to do the reaction on camera as I am allergic to MANY foods and can’t try everything you all are suggesting. BUT if this video hits 1,000 likes (and folks send me MORE stuff from Canada) we will come back with part two, the return of the snacks.
hello im a Canadian and ketchup chips are some of my favorites. HOWEVER, do not. I repeat, DO NOT! Eat sweats or worse something bitting and sweet before eating them. Ever tried eating vinegar flavored chocolate? Sounds horrible right? Well thats pretty much what you just did. Also, if you like salt and vinegar chips, you'll love ketchup chips, it tastes very similar but with a small hint of tomato and dill pickle.
Hi Canadain here... areo bars are acually meant to bubble in you mouth, so you accually need to let it melt in your mouth to get the full experience Feel free to give it a try with it if you still have some left
The reason the Maple Syrup tasted different, is that you have the grade a dark and robust (formally known as grade b), has a much stronger flavor (and in my opinion better) than the grade a fancy or amber which is more commonly sold. You can find dark and robust in stores in the states, but you have to know to look for it.
Some classic Canadian snacks to add to your list for the next time you're up this way: 1. Ruffles All Dressed chips 2. Hickory sticks 3. Hawkins cheezies 4. Coffee Crisp 5. Caramilk 6. Wunderbar 7. Thrills gum
I have never seen more incredible expressions on one man’s face before. I particularly like it when he absolutely hates what he just put into his face.
Yay for the Canadas in Canada! Maple Cookies: We don't really eat them. Interesting about the Maple Syrup though. Aero: Put it in your mouth and let it melt. 😊 Whippets are excellent - with jam, not maple syrup. Bite off the marshmallow and eat it first, then eat the cookie. I'm not a fan of Ketchup chips either! I Think you may end up getting a few boxes of Canadian treats from your Canadian viewers over the next few months!
I ❤ those maple cookies and the deep sniff of them 1st 😂. Aero mint is better otherwise proceed as Barbara suggested. Whippet raspberry is best. Since it so hot in Florida I'd keep them in the fridge 😋
I'm so surprised about the cookies! We seemed to have them back in the 60s, But since the '70s or so it's always seemed to me that they were mostly for sale in souvenir shops. I have noticed them anymore available in grocery stores in the last 5 years or so? It could however just be that I'm not around the people who buy the cookies - And there are a fair few more people in Canada than I know in person lol 😂 Glad to hear from you all!!
I live in RI, they sell those cookies (Dare) in Ocean State Job lot. They are very good. Most of the Dare products are available here in New England. Probably because we aren't that far from the Canadian border.
I am Canadian and love love love Ketchup chips. Old Dutch is bottom of the barrel though. Lays baked are yummo and yes I got hooked on the ketchup cheetos. You really want a burst of ketchup then buy Ketchup Crispers. Soooo good lol
Fun to get to see the Canada's eat Canadian snacks! I'll admit to wasting $3+ dollars at Trader Joes on ketchup flavored seasoning. It is weird. When we went to Canada every spring for our 'holiday' at Fairmont Hot Springs one thing we always made sure to get was some Mackintosh's soft caramel candies. (edit: So wrong...they are toffees, not caramels clearly it has been too many years since I've had one!) Sooooo delicious and for us kids, it was undoubtedly a carrot-on-the-stick treat to be good.
I LOVE watching you two together! Your banter is such fun! The descriptions of those treats were hilarious. "I did NOT put on lipstick - " good info there. Have difficulty imagining the thought process behind making ketchup flavored anything.
Dare cookies are available here; Chocolate, maple, vanilla, and lemon, and coconut. I've seen them at the market, dollar general and convenience stores.
I admit I'm always hoping for Coffee Crisp, Passion Flakies ( gas station pastries ) or Dill Pickle chips, but I really enjoyed your reactions. Always fun to see people trying our food, but if it's not for you, it's not for you. I personally don't see the point of grits!
The maple syrup guy near me would say "maple syrup is going to taste different depending where you are". His happens to have a smokiness to it and it's amazing.
2:34 minutes in and CACKLING ! LOL ! I am a dual citizen,my folks moved to USA from Nova Scotia shortly before I was born, and I applied for Canadian Citizenship when I was a 15 year old (I am 60 now) I am loving your hubby ! You two seem well matched ! Enjoying the USA versus Canada snacks as every year we vacationed in Nova Scotia, and there were certain foods that came back with us ! Back to the video ! 😂
I just LOVE this! Living approximately 100 miles from the Canadian border, Canada has always been a place to go. We also have done taste tests when there. The food and coffee are just super good, and we can hardly wait to get there to eat at favorite eateries. Our son started calling it "Canadia" for a while, and . . . they are called CANADA geese. Of course, there are CANADIAN Canada Geese that live there. 😁
Stephanie, you cracked me up with the Whippets and the Old Dutch, giving them both a NOPE but still eating the other half 😂 Is 'vinegar and salt' the standard name for that flavour there? I'm in England and we always call them 'salt and vinegar'. Also, crisps (er, potato chips) in many flavours are pretty standard here, it always amazed me that America had so few flavours whenever I was there. Generally, I don't like American chocolate, it reminds me of the cheap weird no-brand stuff here, so I'm interested to see that Canadian chocolate is different. This was so much fun! Thank you to Mr Canada, both for being a good sport and giving you the surname to make this whole video work 😂🍁😂
You manage to make the trip to Calgary, AB, I'll gladly ply you with Hawkins Cheezies. You may also enjoy Smarties, which aren't the hard little candies we call "Rockets", but brighter-coloured M&M-like candies with the nice smooth Cadbury chocolate. 😉 (I don't eat the flavoured chips either. Don't blame you for your dislike of that one)
When I was a kid my mother's sister and her family lived in upstate NY. They had several acres of sugar maple trees and used to send us a gallon of syrup every year for Christmas. Nowadays, I like to drizzle it on popcorn.
If we'd known you were coming, we could have suggested a few more things to try, as some have said, you missed All Dressed chips and Coffee Crisp, but also Hawkins Cheezies (I grew up calling all things vaguely Cheeto-like Cheezies because of it)!
We, here in the UK, would put the kit kat and the Aero in the fridge before eating. We have plain, orange, mint and white chocolate Aeros, yummy. Kit kats mainly come in original milk chocolate, dark and white chocolate, I have seen a pink one but don't know what flavour that is. The UK chocolate is great and has no stuff to stop it from melting. Xx
Such a fun video, loved your Canada snack reviews and honesty 😆I think the Maple Cookies are a tourist marketed cookie. My niece brought some back to New Zealand for the family to try and they were great 🤩
Love this!!! I’ve just been to Canada and brought back lots of snacks to try! I reckon I’ll film it in a few days! I got some similar snacks to you but some different ones so I’m excited to compare!
I personally love Old Dutch chips, and their Popcorn Twists and Cheese Pleasers. As far as chocolate goes, Cadbury all the way! Edited to add: Someone send these folks some Hawkins Cheezies!
I had such high hopes for the whippets. They had so many things going for them, the chocolate, the marshmallows, the cookie, even the maple syrup seemed promising. I wonder if it was the execution. Dollar store treats sometimes are like that though😂
I'venever seen whippets in the dollar store, I always liked them better than the Viva Puffs because they're darker chocolate and the fillings don't taste artificial, though I admit I haven't tried the maple one. Cherry is my favourite. Their coconut bars are pretty awesome.
As I live in Australia and don't have access to either USA or Canadian snacks I was "ho-hum " aboot your tasting. Although I passed myself laughing at your reactions. It was like watching a baby's reaction when introducing new tastes and textures of foods. However, I espied the print on your dress. "Quelle surprise " I bought a few metres of the same print , a few years ago and on sale, to make an ensemble. At the same time I bought a remnant of cotton embossed fabric to make a jacket. The fabrics and pattern are all together in my small wheeled trash bin. Maybe next year, eh. Love to all at yours, JOOLZ
Yet another Canuck dropping in. Maple creams are my favourite sandwich cookie -- so glad you like 'em! Aero works best if you don't chew. Just let it melt. (I think Rowntree ran a commercial back in the aughts to that effect.) I never did like ketchup chips, but I'll eat a family sized bag of President's Choice All Dressed chips in one sitting. And Whippets? They're okay if you can't get something better. I'm glad you had fun exploring our snack food! :-)😊
A lot of the chocolate is nearly UK flavours. The Whippets look like dark chocolate teacakes with MS inside (by Tunnocks, a UK company, they'd have blue wrappings where the milk chocolate ones have red (NO maple syrup)- and Tunnocks also do 3 types of wafer bisuits: dark and milk chocolate covered and caramel ones covered in toasted coconut). We get one brand of Ketchup chipc/crisps here, and it's by Gloden Wonder. They're nice, but I'm glad they come in small bags. You can't eat much more than that without a burnt tongue. I was in the US when salt and vinegar lays came out and it was like eating powdered white vinegar. SO nasty. UK salt and vinegar flavours (you can get different types of vinegar depending on the company - chardonnay wine, cider, malt, balsamic) are so nice. The cheetoes sound like they dissolve like wotsits (wotsits flavours are cheese, really cheesy or flamin' hot) and walkers/cheetoes are both owned by the same parent company, pepsi co.
Old dutch ketchup is a classic for like a kids birthday party, so you sort of are adapted to it 😂 like a lot of commenters, I agree that as an adult I reach for the all dressed, but you still may not like it because it still has a vinegar twang to it. I feel like the whippets are not the classic, there is a thing called a wagon wheel that has rasberry jam instead, which is the superior option. Also, you should try an "oh henry" if we get another Canadian food episode.
I too am in Florida. And you can find Aero bars occasionally in the British section of Publix. However there is European emporium near me that imports from Britain the aero and they are delicious. Of course my favorite is a flake bar.
Ha! Love the snack segment.. I've sent soooo many Canadian chocolate bars to my American cousin in Maryland every Christmas. The dark chocolate truffle kitkat has been her favourite so far! Bon apetit!
I used to live in Yakima, Washington, back in the early 1960's. We bought different foods, brands, and other items there that I have never seen offered here in the South.
I flipping LOVE ketchup chips! If you eat enough your mouth will hurt lol my son loves the Dare maple cookies and the best Whippets are the brownie sticks especially when warm
Old dutch ketchup is one of my top two flavours, dill pickle is the other. Coffee crisp is the chocolate bar you should have tried, and smarties. Areo, just let it melt in your mouth, the bubbles desolve, but mint areo is far better.
Please do a KIT KAT episode where you try all the fun flavors they have in Japan and Korea. Look for a Asian store in Florida and they usually always carry a large assortment of odd flavors there.
I'm an avid Red Bull drunker and my husband was an avid Mountain Dew fan.. until we went to Canada. We each took a sip, made a face, and passed it to the other. Things tasted very different.
Well, depending on when that was, the Mountain Dew may not have been caffeinated, I think it was 2012 when they changed the law about what beverages could be caffeinated. And Coke tastes different depending on where you got it whether it's been made with corn syrup, sugar beet sugar or cane sugar.
@bunhelsingslegacy3549 The Mountain Dew tasted like Fresca (I'm not sure if you have that- grapefruit carbonated beverage) and the Red Bull tasted over the top sweet, and it isn't here. It tastes fairly bitter IMO.
@@ceara3100 I can't do caffeine so I've never tasted Red Bull or caffeinated Mountain Dew, but we do have Fresca (grapefruit and orange flavours, I like grapefruit best). There is a slight taste difference between caffeinated Coke and non-caffeinated Coke (when you could get it non-diet) but certainly not as much difference as between ppepsi and coke or between either of those and their diet equivalents, or even the versions made with corn vs cane sugar.. Funny how things change depending on ingredients and marketing though!!
I recommend trying plain or BBQ Old Dutch. We think they are the best brand of Canadian potato chips. We are not fans of the overly seasoned, so we have not tried the Old Dutch version of all dressed.
I love you two! Welcome to Canada, Canadas ❤ some of these treats you purchased are the bottom rated by Canadians! If Ned wants more Maple syrup, let me know I will send or any goodies you crave! What part of Canada did you visit , Canadas?
Canadian here. Love maple cookie and maple syrup, didn't know there'd be a difference between Vermont and Quebec maple syrup though. Aero bars are best melted in your mouth, not chewed... I haven't had the maple Whippets, but the cherry whippets are one of my favourite indulgences, right up there with Ah Caramel cakes from Vachon (though their Passion Flakies are dang nice. Might be an Ontario/Quebec things, I've heard people complain they can't get them in the western provinces. I don't know who likes ketchup chips, they're sure not my favourite. I'd rather go wtih sour cream and onion. I find they're like a crappy salt and vinegar chip so if you don't like that, no surprise you don't like the ketchup ones. And I didn't know Cheetos made puffy ones, the ones I've had were always the solid type rather than the styrofoam type.
Canadian here. Old Dutch chips are never as good as Lay's IMO, and no ketchup chips are good! The maple cookies are definitely good but the lemon are even better.
Stephanie and Ned are cute and funny! You did one of these with UK (where I am) snacks, I seem to remember...? But I can't remember what brands you tried. The skinny biscuit (cookie...) sticks, the brand we have is Mikado. And for aerated/whipped chocolate, Cadbury's Twirl is far superior to Aero (unless it's mint Aero). Do you have the Tony's Chocolonely brand in the US...? Gourmet fair trade chocolate, in big, chunky, colourfully wrapped bars, in many varieties 😋
whippets, viva puffs, malomars(rosie odonnells fave) are all similar things, some have coconut instead of chocolate topping, some have the jammy filling on top of the marshmallow. usually i despise marshmallow snacks, but viva puffs are a worthy grab... however, i agree, maple syrup filled are cloying and best avoided. far as i know, kerr's chips are from the states... ketchup chips, had em, dang strong.
At one time Fritos corn chips had a ketchup flavor. Horrible but we kept the bag in the car in case we got stranded. If we did get stranded, , we would eat them only to keep from starving rather than eat them all at once.
Really fun video part 1😂. You tried a few things i am curious about now. The stick things from the Philippines. I like their lobster chips . Australian soft black licorice or British.
I feel like whenever Americans goes abroad they get surprised by how chocolate tastes in the rest of the world. Is the American chocolate made with corn syrup (like the sodas)?

What are you allergic to? I have Celiac disease.
Hi Canadain here... areo bars are acually meant to bubble in you mouth, so you accually need to let it melt in your mouth to get the full experience

Your husband is a hoot. You two are so much fun.

I buy it online. My local grocery stores only have a small selection of "robust", and it's twice the price of the " light".
Some classic Canadian snacks to add to your list for the next time you're up this way:

3. Hawkins cheezies

You need a coffee crisp, this is the ultimate Canadian snack
Stephanie, I absolutely understand why you fell in love and married him. He is just like you, in male format. Two peas in a pod. Adorable couple
This is my new favorite comment on the internet!! ❤🎉❤
I have never seen more incredible expressions on one man’s face before. I particularly like it when he absolutely hates what he just put into his face.
I'm Canadian, and I don't eat Old Dutch ketchup chips. What you should have tried is the all dressed chips. They're good😊❤👍🏻
Yes all dressed are good.
Agree as a fellow canadian. But they can be tangy too.
I was going to bring up the All Dressed too! (Though I'm one of those people who likes the ketchup better)
yes ketchup blech all dressed or hawkins cheesies.
Or Miss Vickies sea salt and malt vinegar.
The dare maple cookie is a staple in Quebec households. Also maple syrups come in many types here, different shades and tastes and thickness.
Yay. I'm an American that moved to Canada. I love Canadian snacks
Honestly I liked most of them! Just a few were not ideal for my taste buds.
I ❤ those maple cookies and the deep sniff of them 1st 😂. Aero mint is better otherwise proceed as Barbara suggested. Whippet raspberry is best. Since it so hot in Florida I'd keep them in the fridge 😋
Oh, I eat those maple cookies frequently.
My mom has those maple cookies in her cupboard all of the time! She loves them!
This Canadian eats and really enjoys the Maple Cookies!
I'm so surprised about the cookies! We seemed to have them back in the 60s, But since the '70s or so it's always seemed to me that they were mostly for sale in souvenir shops. It could however just be that I'm not around the people who buy the cookies - And there are a fair few more people in Canada than I know in person lol 😂 Glad to hear from you all!!
I love your commitment to adding the clink every single time!
And the Canada’s were found days later after their sugar high. Both were quoted as saying “oh, wow”! 😂
I live in RI, they sell those cookies (Dare) in Ocean State Job lot. They are very good. Most of the Dare products are available here in New England. Probably because we aren't that far from the Canadian border.
Canadian here, I never liked whippits until my sister introduced me to Mint whippits kept in the freezer - they are the best.
I am Canadian and love love love Ketchup chips. Old Dutch is bottom of the barrel though. Lays baked are yummo and yes I got hooked on the ketchup cheetos. You really want a burst of ketchup then buy Ketchup Crispers. Soooo good lol
As a Canadian I hate Ketchup chips. Old Dutch is known for going heavy on their seasonings all round.
😞
Looks like you had fun plundering the international aisle of Superstore. By the cherry flavour whippets are waaay better 🍒
Cherry flavour 😮! I have to try those!
It was fun to watch you and Ned try the snacks!
Bring Ned on occasionally. You two are such fun together! Thanks for a bit of fun on a dreary day.
I LOVE watching you two together! Your banter is such fun! The descriptions of those treats were hilarious. "I did NOT put on lipstick - " good info there. Have difficulty imagining the thought process behind making ketchup flavored anything.
Honestly I blame Quebec, most of the people I know who put ketchup on EVERYTHING are Quebeckers
Really enjoyed having Mr Canada's input
Thanks! It’s one of the few times she asked for it, so I had to take advantage of it! 🎉🎉
Dare cookies are available here; Chocolate, maple, vanilla, and lemon, and coconut. I've seen them at the market, dollar general and convenience stores.
Oh I recently discovered a chocolate mint flavour hiding in the ice cream toppings area
Nice to see Mr. Canada with you ❤.
I admit I'm always hoping for Coffee Crisp, Passion Flakies ( gas station pastries ) or Dill Pickle chips, but I really enjoyed your reactions. Always fun to see people trying our food, but if it's not for you, it's not for you. I personally don't see the point of grits!
I can never find Passion Flakies one at a time anymore. It's always big boxes. And Coffee Crisp is the best.
Oh the caramel passion flakies!!! Yuuuummmmm
@@vouvou4 or the Ah Caramels....
Be prepared for Canadian subbies to be sending you more Canadian snacks. You think ketchup is tangy, wait til y'all try "all dressed" flavour 🤤😮
The maple syrup guy near me would say "maple syrup is going to taste different depending where you are".
His happens to have a smokiness to it and it's amazing.
Come to Australia and try Aussie snacks!
You two are hysterical! Thanks for sharing!
In Canada you can purchase a tin can of maple syrup. Whenever my co worker goes home to Quebec, I give him money for a tin can of maple syrup.
2:34 minutes in and CACKLING ! LOL ! I am a dual citizen,my folks moved to USA from Nova Scotia shortly before I was born, and I applied for Canadian Citizenship when I was a 15 year old (I am 60 now)

Back to the video ! 😂
All dressed is definitely better than ketchup and it does make a difference what brand ketchup chips you try lol
Hehe "Americans Discover Real Chocolate"
WunderBar is the best candy bar ever made. Missed opportunity!
I just LOVE this! Living approximately 100 miles from the Canadian border, Canada has always been a place to go. We also have done taste tests when there. A note about Ketchup chips: Old Dutch is not what we Canadians reach for. We prefer "Lays" brand for Ketchup and All Dressed chips 💜
Gotta disagree - Old Dutch is "old school" pure Canadian.. but it is one of the most heavily flavoured. Definitely an acquired taste. Lay's is milder.
Well, some of us Canadians would prefer Hostess to still exist, but otherwise Old Dutch will have to do.
We, here in the UK, would put the kit kat and the Aero in the fridge before eating. We have plain, orange, mint and white chocolate Aeros, yummy. That's the nature of those cookies, they seem like a good idea, especially when you are a kid, but they are such a disappointment.
I'venever seen whippets in the dollar store, I always liked them better than the Viva Puffs because they're darker chocolate and the fillings don't taste artificial, though I admit I haven't tried the maple one. Cherry is my favourite. Their coconut bars are pretty awesome.
I absolutely love the maple leaf cookies. Have not tried any of the rest. This was hilarious watching both of your reactions. Lol
As much as I love ketchup chips, it really is a bizzare chip flavour. You're a real trooper Stephanie!
Also...for the ketchup chips, put them in a burger. It'll add a nice tangy punch
Fun to see you both!!
Ned's expression while eating the Whippet was painful to watch. ...yet he kept on eating. 🤣🤣🤣
As I live in Australia and don't have access to either USA or Canadian snacks I was "ho-hum " aboot your tasting. Although I passed myself laughing at your reactions. We sure did have fun! Maple cremes were the clear winner.
They usually have Aero in Publix in the International Foods section. My son loves them.
You have to let the Aero bar melt in your mouth. You let the bubbles melt in your mouth to get the full flavour.
Ah the Canada's eating Canadian food... I have been blessed!!!

We boil our own maple sap and grading standards are wild. We prefer B because it has more flavor and is amazing in baked goods.

Old dutch ketchup is one of my top two flavours, dill pickle is the other. Coffee crisp is the chocolate bar you should have tried, and smarties. Areo, just let it melt in your mouth, the bubbles desolve, but mint areo is far better.
Thanks for the vicarious tasting video!
Love tasting videos! And thumbs up for Ned's Pilsner glass!
Hahaha 🤣 that's. So crazy
Please do a KIT KAT episode where you try all the fun flavors they have in Japan and Korea. Look for a Asian store in Florida and they usually always carry a large assortment of odd flavors there.
Drinkin' maple syrup! I was, actually, expecting you to drink it out of the bottle!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣Canadian Chaos.
We thought about it, then opted for a smarter choice.
HAHA So Proud of you for trying new stuff!! :-)
Glad you were able to make it to Canada 😅
For people who probably grew up eating Moon
Pies, the fact that you so abhorrently rejected the marshmallow cookie says something!
This was fun and it was nice to meet Ned. If you can't eat some of the snacks would he be willing to do a solo taste test for us?
I would have to ask him, but he is usually pretty game.
I would watch that.
Love you both. From a Canadian.
Aero bars can be found at Cost Plus
When I was a teenager, those are not what we called whip-its LOL
Ketchup chips are certainly a taste.
And not just Canadian - we got Herr's ketchup chips back in the 70s in Pennsylvania.
At one time Fritos corn chips had a ketchup flavor. Horrible but we kept the bag in the car in case we got stranded. If we did get stranded, , we would eat them only to keep from starving rather than eat them all at once.
I love the Dare cookies and I'm so happy I can get the in North Carolina
Really fun video part 1😂. You tried a few things i am curious about now. The stick things from the Philippines. I like their lobster chips . Australian soft black licorice or British.
I'm glad you guys had the correct opinion on the whippets, but not on the ketchup chips 😢
The Dare maple sandwich cookies are good. We can get them way over here in Washington state.😊
So fun!
Thank you for hanging out with us!
I'm not Canadian but I knew as soon as I saw the Old Dutch what was going to happen😂 poor Stephanie
It was QUITE the choice I made.
I feel like whenever Americans goes abroad they get surprised by how chocolate tastes in the rest of the world. Is the American chocolate made with corn syrup (like the sodas)?
Probably palm oil.
It's also different because Hershey set the standard for US chocolate, and that tends to be almost sour tasting.
Y'all are much braver than me. Your faces😂😂😂😂
Very fun, and FYI, I would eat all your vinegar chips for you!
You should pick up dill pickle chips and mash them on a hotdog or burger with the ketchup ones.😁
