I appreciate that there’s more emphasis on tragedy here than horror. I always thought that the Lavender Town theme was unintentionally creepy, and this puts it in an interesting perspective.
Well death is something both sad and scary. And lavander town to me was the personification of that in a videogame. I mean yeah, the hex maniacs back then were pretty creepy (seriously "I...need...blood." how is that not creepy) but as a whole the tower symbolized loss. So to me it is both scary and sad for a kids game
@@stephenfong1144 yes. I want to say she is on the second floor of the tower.(it is the one with a square pattern, she is in the bottom left side as an optional fight if I remove correctly, I just remember the line)
I really like this adaptation of Lavender Town. The town wasn’t built to be a horror town, it just sadly became that because of the grave tower (which be honest, if you lived near the grave tower, hearing the crying of broken souls and morning people and seeing the occasional ghost, you would be depressed and scared too). Also, the chorus is the right type of chilling, creepy but also mournful (which is Lavender town in a nutshell honestly).
ah, that one town with the very creepy music that sprouted a bunch of scary story's and fan theory's in a children's game that was meant to be darker then it was, a fine choice for spoopy month and an even finer lyrical adaptation, hats off to you internet folks!
@Rotom Channel The theory goes that after your battle on the ship, Blue was not able to get his Raticate to the Pokemon Center quick enough so it died.
What I really like about this is that it sounds less spooky and scary and more...depressing. Like something really terrible happened to the town and you’re just now seeing what’s left of it. Nice work!
I don't remember ever being afraid of Lavender Town as a kid, I always thought this song was rather sad and calming at the same time. Then again my first introduction to Gen 1 through the games was with the Fire Red and Leaf Green remakes, so I don't know if anyone thought it was still creepy then.
I love the contrast between this song and the rest of the Halloween bytes. All the others have been spooky in a fun sort of way, like Thriller or Monster Mash. This one has just been depressing and loathsome, in a good way of course. Fantastic song

The main parts of the song are very sinister-sounding, but the undertones don't support that. Instead, it gives you the feeling of "something terrible happened here." Fantastic.
*As you walk into the empty looking town, chills creep up your spine. *You walk forward slowly. *… *You are certain that it’s only the wind, but… *It almost sounds like there are whispers in the air. *They are solemn, quiet. *It sounds like, for lack of a better term, ghosts unable to pass on. *Besides that, the air is still. *No one else is around. *You are afraid to continue forward… *something terrible happened here. For how Cliché Lavender Town is for creepiness, I like what you did with this one. Fitting a depressing atmosphere. And people can certainly see Depression and Sadness as scary in their eyes. Hell, I have that fear myself.
This is the only version of this track that I've ever actually enjoyed listening to. In the actual game, it's always just been irritating and unpleasant, but the chorus and instrumentation here elevates it.
I gotta say, the art style here has done wonders to captivate the eeriness of the song. Although it's been ages since I've had anything to do with Pokemon, this song certainly revived some old memories, of how creepy Lavender Town felt to me. Well done everyone!
OMG Didn't expect it ! Awesome ! Even though the White hand reference would be better in the song instead of just in description. Plus a reference to Lavanville Syndrome, Buried Alive and of course Marowak, would have been cool. Oh and Blue's Raticate. Something like : Do you feel... the hand on your shoulder... ? You must free... the spirit of the mother.... When the red... starts coming out of your eyes... You can hear... the buried man's silent cries... Coming through the graves of the tower Your friend's Raticate lies here forever On the top... He hears the sound of your feet... (Coming through the graves of the tower... While these ideas are cool, they aren’t canon. Lavender Town Syndrome, Buried Alive, and you killing your rivals Raticate are all creepy pastas and theories.
@@azuretheegg8308 Yes but Lavender Town wouldn't be that creepy without them. It's these creepypastas and theories that made Lavender Town what it is today.
@@Oceane1803 While the Creepypastas may add more creepiness to Lavender Town, this is still focused on the canon Pokémon world. Lavender Town Syndrome would break the Fourth Wall because it’s a story that revolves around the game affecting people in the real world, and once again this is focused in the world of Pokémon, where there aren’t characters who know they’re a video game. As for Buried Alive, it wouldn’t work in canon Pokémon, as it doesn’t fit the style of Pokémon, and Lavender Town is a burial place for Pokémon, not people. And for the “You killed your rivals Raticate”, there’s barely any evidence to support it, and I doubt Pokemon would go THAT dark. What I’m trying to say is, MOTI’s music covers canon things from the game he is covering. Things like the hand and Marowak (from what I recall, there was something like that involving Lavender Town) could have had a possibility of being referenced, but they weren’t, and we just have to live with it. Besides, I personally like the lyrics the way they are.
