People are completely entitled to feel how they want to feel without beating a dead horse. Monique needs to stop looking for an apology and focus on healing her hurt. Yes it would be nice if Tyler, Oprah and Lee apologized, however they don’t OWE her anything.

      Yes, most black Women experience being underpaid and under appreciated at work but can’t spend the next 10-15 years being difficult and refusing other offers whilst trying to move on to better things or ask others to boycott those employers. The truth is Monique has to earn enough money for herself and to pay Sidney , and that’s the root of the problem.

    • @gioblu
      @gioblu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Netflix situation is a continuation of the same type of treatment that female black entertainers receive year in & year out. She’s still being asked about the situation, especially in light of the situations with Lee Daniels owing Damon Dash money, both his shows being canceled, & Steve Harvey losing 2 of his TV jobs simultaneously, despite having the #4 top ranking show on daytime TV. She’s not just advocating for herself. This is an ongoing issue for decades. People being silent hasn’t changed anything. She’s bringing the conversation to the forefront & keeping it there so it doesn’t get swept under the rug because it’s not just her. She’s one of the only ones speaking up. She’s speaking against the culture that says she & other black women should accept what they get & just be grateful that she got anything at all. Meanwhile their white counterparts are paid more, & given more of a voice. Our community on a whole never rallied behind her from jump when she 1st started speaking out. The black community has been telling her to shut up from day 1, never validating what she was saying. Now today we’re seeing more & more that what she’s been saying about her treatment & the treatment of other black women in entertainment is true. Yet, we’re still saying Mo’Nique shut up. We’re so quick to put our own down & just accept whatever we get. That mentality perpetuates the same environment that creates these types of situations. I wish we would spend the sane amount of energy validating & vindicating our own instead of trying to tear down or stifle each other. A lot of slaves refused to go with Harriet Tubman, there were black people who thought Rosa should’ve sat at the back of the bus. Being quiet, complacent, or fearful of losing out on what we’re “given” won’t allow us to take hold of what we deserve.

She needs to be out here promoting herself and what she's up to today cuz what I've learned is half the people you mad at don't know and the other half don't care. When people are suffering from depression they make a list of all the wrong done to them and who did those wrongs. It's hard for them to take that list and say to themselves what have contributed to the breakdown. You have to look at each thing on the list and break it down and find forgiveness and empathy in each thing.

    • @wendyguity4168
      @wendyguity4168 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wait, wait, wait...
      Those two are in no comparison. JPS made a very valid point, the Oscars was/is too white. Whether she wanted Will to win or be nominated or not, when she spoke up, she spoke up for EVERY actor of color. I think people saw JPS as trivial, insignificant and petty, my words-not yours, because they couldn't relate. She's worth millions and acts on tv and in movies and she's complaining about awards. I looked beyond that though. Because as actor, acting is your craft. I would imagine that ALL actors due their best and work hard to win what are considered grand prizes for their work. Monique is just beating a dead horse, an over 10 year old horse kibd of making her complaints at this point somewhat invalid. Keep in mind I said point, not feelings. She's very negative bathing in that bitterness every time she speaks publicly and it's unfortunate. She has a residency, she should promote that. Or maybe she thinks she doesn't have to because she's so beloved and people will see her anyway. Meanwhile Oprah been off the air for 10 years. Hmmmmmm.
      And the Oscars are still too white.
      Question, since she publicized, by being interviewed by Oprah, her abuse from family, why WOULDN'T Oprah use her platform and put those fuckers on blast for Monique's mistreatment? Monique deserved a BIG apology and Oprah was abused herself.
      Your thoughts when you have time.

      @@wendyguity4168 yes ma'am and to answer the first part I said both jada and monique however different the scenarios where both complained about different facets of the industry at one point in time or another, yes actors should get their just due when their craft and work is top notch and yes they deserve to be rewarded properly and paid justly HOWEVER what both actresses fail to realize the black actor will always come second to their white counterparts (in jada's argument) because that is the way the system was designed (I didn't make it that way that's just the way it is) and it's unfortunate but it's real so both women need to understand that; secondly I agree Monique argument is getting redundant and at the point now where it's just too much, I feel her plight but like I said I feel it's best if she picks up the pieces dont worry about who did what or didn't do what and take it as a life lesson and move forward with her craft; now lastly as far as Oprah is concerned she can do and say whatever she pleases with her platform yes but let's not forget she hasn't always used her platform for good and has threw alot of her people under the bus in means of making money (i.e the boys speaking out against MJ interview) so no I have no respect for Oprah haven't had none in a long time there's always two sides to every story and I'm sure there's things we can't see or really dont know cause where not in that rhelem of celebrity (and I don't wanna be); respect to your comment though

    We have all been done wrong. Dragged for filth. And some have lost everything. We must move on.

    As you said in a previous video, if Mo’Nique would have received that 20 million dollars from Netflix or better yet, gotten paid for promoting Precious, she wouldn’t be talking about equality for all. She would be sipping champagne and shutting up. Quiet as it’s kept, she’s talking about what she deserves, yet she agreed to take an Oscar-winning role for 50,000 dollars as a damn favor. Thanks Sidney. Smdh.

    She's speaking up about an issue that affects us all. Black people are chronically under paid. Our properties are undervalued. This is something we all need to make some noise about.

    You and I both! I’m convinced as well that there is a disconnect within her (respectfully). She needs to be sitting on someone’s chair getting healing for this. And true! Ain’t nobody calling her, no matter how much she speaks on it.

    Finally, Sidney crave attention he isn’t worthy of. He couldn’t con Mo’nique connections, so he began tearing things up. If she isn’t careful he will be her complete undoing. Amen 🙏
