i remember wn i was in military training camp before,, during at night time,, if we don't have any lectured classes, every trainee student should sing any song, so that they could sleep inside of their barracks, but if the trainee refuse to sing, the trainee will receive punishment, he will automatically, go to the river bank, ang sleep on the water at whole night long,, singing is part of military training in the Philippines,, mostly pilipino soldiers could sing.
Really in Philippines we love to sing!! And dance!! And also when you have to respect your grandma's or grandpa's especially your parents just say opo or po :)
My dad used to be a club lead singer with an orchestra backing him up in the 60's; he had a Matt Monroe kind of voice. I sing as well as my 4 siblings. My daughter was the lead singer of a small band. My maternal cousins had a band who used to tour in Europe. :) I'm Filipino too.
This is the best female singer from the Philippines I found who is not an established star--she is a semi finalist in the current season of Tawag ng Tanghalan, but she last performed on the show in an early preview week of the season back in August 2019. I think Filipinos can sing those famous singers being discovered and given a chance to sing in the big stage and television; some are undiscovered but were viral on TH-cam and lastly those only singing the occasions in videoke but definitely 80%-90% of the Filipinos can sing.
Filipino's have high standard in singing.. seeing people who can carry a tune is just normal. To be a singer you have to be spectacular or you won't stand out.
