  • A ride on a 1967 GM TDH-5303 "New Look" (more commonly known as a Fishbowl) through various parts of Calgary and Airdrie, with some higher speed driving on back country roads.
670 is currently privately owned and I was incredibly fortunate to get the opportunity to see it in action! Many thanks to the current owner for an amazing day!

My father passed away in1994. He drove these buses for the local transit from 1962 to about 1985. Watching and listening to these videos brought back many memories of riding the bus with him. As a kid I was not fond of having to take the bus. But as an adult, I see where the bus paid for my schooling, the food on our table ,the roof over our heads, as well as caring for Mom and my 5 brothers and sisters.

I'm sorry to hear about your father passing, but I'm really glad the video was able to bring back memories (hopefully all good!)
I'm incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to drive two retired Fishbowl's, they're amazing machines!

I've been watching a lot of these GM Fishbowl videos. I grew up in Oakland, CA (AC Transit). I used to literally walk around the house at 5, 6 years old imitating the sound of that engine. I even remember those green tinted top windows.

I have myself here on TH-cam doing an imitation of the six cylinder two stroke diesel engine in a bus with the automatic transmission shifting.

I liked the appearance of the GMC New Look Fishbowl Bus and always enjoyed the sound of the engine with the automatic transmission shifting. Saw plenty of them in service with Southern California Rapid Transit. District.

So much of this video, brought back a great deal of memories. My Dad used to drive bus for our local bus system from about 1962 to 1984. He drove these fishbowl models many times, as well as the GM model used just before these. I rode them many times both on and off Dads route.

Great ride along video. I too have nostalgic memories of riding these beasts first in Montreal then Ottawa and finally in London. I can close my eyes while listening to this video and go back in time.

I fondly remember riding on the last few remaining early '60s New Looks in service in London, Ontario, Canada (where many of them were built) in the late '90s to early 2000s. A driver once told me the New Looks were the most reliable buses in their fleet, especially compared to the New Flyer D40i which was brand new at the time and notoriously unreliable.

The bus looks great. However, what happened to the signage? It would be awesome if the signage could be restored or reinstated it would really spruce up the bus and give it more of an authentic retrospect. Nonetheless it was a great video and a great ride and great scenery of the Calgary area! Thank you for posting

How about a clip of a ride in an SDM 49 passenger. I used to ride in them when I lived in a suburb of Worcester , Ma . and went to school in the city. The company that had them was B & W Lines , based in Framingham.
