It's so nice to see this game getting recognized by people outside the Hololive community. So much love was poured into this game and it shows. Also the main dev Kay Yu outright said he doesn't want to be paid for this project at all, and wants it to remain purely a passion project.
Which is a shame because donations should 100% be allowed towards this guy. This much passion should be rewarded

@@canhnguyen-uj6oxnope, Hololive reach out to him and he refused. Even without being official, Hololive stance for fan project is that its fine if its Patreon donation for example. He just want it to stay passion project, and he also want to add controversial idol that has left Hololive for future update.
The end is golden. The only time that the Hololive lore is important because Mikodanye (the last boss) is the origin of the lava bucket. Its literally "You Dare To Use My Own PIZZA Against Me" moment.
I laughed a good 10 seconds at that.

Honestly, one of the best games out there. Kai Yu (who didn't even include himself in the credits) and all the others, who worked on this, have my utmost respect. And dang, what a fun game it is 🧡

Kay Yu being the pixel Art Director on River City Girls and the creator of Holocure makes sense when seeing all the love and care he puts in. Everything is a reference and has purpose in its design to be clear despite the limitations of graphics. The art is just expressive enough to convey all you need to know when most people won’t know the source material.

Well it's a free game, Asmon is only really against the spending of real money for random rewards because that's where it becomes gambling. Virtual currency with no real world value, doesn't matter to Asmon.

There are super collabs in the game where you fuse an item with your collab. You could have possibly made one during that first run with Kiara. After you made the collab using Wamy Water and Glowstick, you could have turned it into a super collab by picking up the golden hammer, going to an anvil, and then combining the collab with max level Sake.
Did he get to level 50 or 3 collabs?

When the game started to reach outside the target audience I was scared that it would get shit on for no reason, so I'm glad that everybody is enjoying it so much
I saw a youtuber complain about the graphics (which is funny to me) and because it was "too similar" to VS (which is also funny to me).

There’s so much to this game it’s insane.
Vampire survivors mixed with animal crossing.
Tons of things to grind, constantly feeling like you’re making progress. Ways to compete with others. An entire community that’s excited.
All for a free game that’s a passion project. The dev and artists deserves so much praise and money

@@morkk5945the managers at hololive are quite hardworking ikn the fact that back at early 2022 when the game first came out with it's demo, they instantly reached out to Kay Yu(the developer) if their talents could play the game. Moving on as the game garnered much attention due to the talents playing them on stream, it was offered to them that they would pay them to continue the development of the game. However Kay Yu refused and his answer to why in a podcast was : 'If I were to do this with monetary gains, I would feel bye t out as it would not be a passion project anymore' or something along the lines of that. And as such, this game will probably be constant free throughout it's career
These Holocure clips are the first time I've felt the need to go and watch the actual VOD on Twitch. I don't want to miss any of his reactions. lol
Each holocure vid he's posted so far has actually been his entire stream play through since he hasn't played too many games at once, so he just uploads the entire thing.

The first one skipped the 1st character selection (minor, I know, but I wanted to see how he chose Calli) so I've just been watching the VODs since then. They're all good reactions though so I'm glad not much is being cut out.
@@allasterisk Oh I didn't know about the minor edit. I did watch them on his stream vod first, but when I compared the times to the TH-cam vids they looked the same, so thought nothing was cut.
If you want even more HoloCure content you can watch clips of the Hololive girls playing the game. You might even learn a thing or two.

this game has me in a chokehold
the title couldn't be more wrong in a sense. the first release of Holocure had such a success that the leaderboards crashed almost instantly due to the amount of people playing it. but that it's now on steam means it can be recommended to others who don't even know hololive. which is of course a positive thing
I've been playing HoloCure since the first demo all the way back in June 2022. The way that it's evolved and blown up since then has been nothing short of phenomenal. The fact that players can enjoy it without any prior knowledge of Hololive is a testament to the game's quality. That being said, Hololive is awesome, and I'm glad so many people are getting introduced to it via this game.
A friend of mine who doesn't know its origin was surprised i know so much about it. He thought it was a completely brand new game. So I explained to him how it all began, how it was before it got to Steam, and how only those who are aware of the Vtuber or Hololive community played or knows about it.
Porting this game to Steam for *free* is a blessing.

Some thoughts/tips:
1) Do not ignore character skills. These are your bread and butter. The foundation for any functioning build.
It was painful to watch you playing Kiara without her Trailblazer skill. If it weren't for Stage 1 (the newbie/testing stage), you would have lost.
2) StatUps (like 3% Crit) should be avoided; only taken on LevelUps after your build is complete. They are hot garbage compared to the alternatives.
3) Snowball items (like the XP glasses or the Credit Card) are only worth it if you get them pretty early on AND max them asap.
No need for more XP when the stage is nearing its end.
4) Read more carefully. The game is paused during the Sticker or LevelUp menu. Your viewers won't just leave the stream if you take 10 seconds instead of 2.
Good decisions are better than worse decisions.
I picked this game up after watching Asmon play it.
My two favorite characters so far are Sana (;-;) and Irys. Sana is an AOE god and Irys can get set up to be practically immortal. They’re great.

Seeing Amosgold go all in on Holocure just gives me a wide grin.
Watching people outside of the fandom play this game has been a joy for me, same with all the fg youtubers/streamers playing Idol Showdown.
Weapon combinations in this game are absolutely insane. My favorite is wamy water and books or spider cooking and CEO tear. Both very strong imo
wamy water and glowstick is pretty powerful too.

try curse + spider cooking. summons an aoe that also has life steal.

asmon needs to start taking the character skills, all of them are really good and they all synergize with eachother
not all of them.
if you play mori One hit K.O build, any damage related skill has no value which means 2 other skill are completely optional.
other character also work like that when you go some specific build.
at least based on what i seen when searching for info around.

This only half of Cover's roster. Kay Yu will be adding Hololive Fantasy (Gen 3), Gen 4, Holo X (Gen 5), Advent (EN Gen 3), Holostars JP and Holostars Tempus in future updates.

Also people we're saying the solo stamp(pink triangle thing) is trash in the first game because it increases damage per empty weapon slot and asmon picked it up when he was about to fill up his weapon slots making the stamp useless. It is amazing on main weapon only runs though.

I actually got all the upgrade and have over 1mil gold just from leveling my pet guys, getting manager lvl 4, fishing, and growing crops. I'm playing this game like it's stardew lmao.

I only ever watched his Holocure thing, but roguelikes with weapon evolutions like Vampire Survivors are right up my alley, so i'll try even the lousy ones.
So bombard me with game titles, if you want.
@@mineralbunny8736 I played all of those games and basically did everything there is to do in all of them, but Holocure is the one I consistently have the most fun with.
Soulstone survivors is too unoptimized compared to this and plays messy, Halls of Torment is resident sleeper compared to Holocure, Ravenswatch feels better to play than those two but it also becomes resident sleeper for me after a while, God of weapons was too jank to really get much out of after a few runs just not very replayable unfortunately.
Holocure hits that balance of action and visual load with enjoyable gameplay just perfectly, and despite the fact you end up playing very similar weapon and item load outs most of the time, every game feels different due to the character skills as well as the level mechanics themselves that keep it exciting and fun even when full shop, and now with the leaderboards there are even more incentives to play and optimize things to get high scores (Which might not be fun to some, but I enjoy it quite a bit).
Besides, you can try a lot of different builds for stage mode where certain combinations of weapons and items completely change how the game feels when playing, which in Holocure feels more impactful than it does to me in other survivors games (Which I cannot quite put my finger on why exactly that is).
Even after hundreds of hours, it still feels fresh to me.
Been playing this, it's cool to see it finally getting the attention it deserves. It's insane the quality from a free game!

When he used the greed stamp to upgrade the solo stamp... Ooof. But it is what it is. Glad to see he's enjoying this game. It really is awesome, fun and free. The best part is Kay Yu whose the main dev behind it is really good at animation (meaning he does it professionally) and just wants to keep it a passion project along with the others on it.

I love that a free game that has a character with a whole kit based on silly nut jokes (yes, am talking about Risu with her Non-stop Nut November, Deez, Nutz skills) gave me more hours of fun than a AAA games.

To be fair it is hard to tell that those are not your lava buckets without knowing the context of everything. Even more so if you are using them as well. It is easy to point out they are darker but that is a detail you probably won't notice the first time
While the darker thing might be easy to miss first time, it is also true that a player should be looking at the boss during a boss fight, and the boss does throw them to that position. It's a double fail.

Thanks to Asmon, I'm now completely addicted and I don't even care for vtubers. Game is so much fun. The one thing I like over Vampire Survivors is the lack of eggs which makes Holocure feel a lot better balanced. It doesn't matter what character I play, they're all equally good.
Because of Asmon I found Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment and now Holocure... I'm addicted to these types of games it turns out. 🤣
