    I still can't believe Nique got snubbed from the 50 Greatest Players list

    • @TRJ2241987
      @TRJ2241987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +90

      Took away so much credibility from the list, the only thing I've ever been able to think is that Dominique's statistical playoff totals were very low compared to many of the others on the list, he never made it out of the 2nd round. Still, the voting process failed Wilkins for sure. People were not happy Shaq made the list after 4 seasons. Dominique was pretty much as good at Age 37 as he was at Age 23....the guy was an athletic freak, smart player, carried every team he went to. People think of him as an Atlanta Hawk, but he was really the main guy pretty much everywhere he went, Clippers, Celtics, Spurs, he carried all of those teams as far as they could go too.

    • @Xrayballer88
      @Xrayballer88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Speak of Dominique and Shaq, you can add Dream Team to the list of snubs. I know, that team couldn't have survived without the Laettner Legend, but one of Dominique, Shaq, Isiah, or Grant Hill would've been nice.

    • @TRJ2241987
      @TRJ2241987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Dominique Wilkins had a season ending Achilles injury in January of 1992, he missed the All-Star game and was not in the running to be selected for the Dream Team. The final spot went to Clyde Drexler over Isiah Thomas, I believe the final spot was mainly chosen over who had the best season in 1991-92.

    • @jaiwil4280
      @jaiwil4280 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You sure about that?

    • @TRJ2241987
      @TRJ2241987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Well I know as of the All-Star Game in February 1992, 10 of the players had already been selected to the Dream Team, it definitely gets brought up during the broadcast. The final spots came down to who had the best NCAA tournament (Laettner) and I believe the final spot was Isiah vs Drexler. Drexler got the 12th spot, and I believe it was solely because of his performance in the 1991-92 season. Isiah should have been in the first ten selections, but he was disliked by Jordan, Bird, and at that time Magic truly did not like Isiah either. The rumor was Magic had found out through the grapevine that Isiah was going around telling everyone that Magic Johnson got HIV from having gay sex. Isiah's defense was that he would never say that, being the one guy who was already known to kiss Magic in public. I don't know if Magic has ever truly thought of Isiah as a real friend since those days, it took Magic a long time to forgive him.

    Wilkins was always such an explosive high-flyer, that other parts of his game usually get ovelooked. He was really strong and had a great post game. With the Spurs he was used at times as a PF. Look at him bang with Dennis Rodman here. In the current NBA, a prime Wilkins could easly play the PF spot.

    I don't care WHAT people say about LBJ....Jordan's FIRST STEP was the most explosive first-step of ALL-TIME. He would DUST any defender within the FIRST step like no-1 before or since. This is why he could draw a foul, basically, whenever he wanted.

    • @cosmo1578

      Dooby Cooks Duncan got drafted in 1997 because the team that ‘Nique was on had terrible injuries to David Robinson and Sean Elliott. ‘Nique was only on the Spurs for one season: ‘96-‘97. The game in this video is one of the games from that season. Also, it’s worth mentioning that Gregg Popovich took over as head coach in December 1996, roughly. Amazing to think about the fact that two seasons after this, the Spurs would win their first title. They went from hell to heaven pretty fast after getting Tim. They really only needed one more great player like him. They go from missing the playoffs in ‘97 to getting to the semifinals in ‘98 and winning the title in ‘99.

    In the 1982 NBA draft (an awesome draft year), Dominique Wilkins wanted to be drafted by the Lakers (who had the overall pick) he said he shed tears when the Lakers didn’t select him. A fellow North Carolinian named Big Game James Worthy was the lucky guy and the rest is history.

    MJ had such strong lift in his legs that not even taller players could block his jumpers. Amazing. Kobe didn't have this sort of explosion in his legs so he had to compensate with his long extended arms on his turn around jumpers.

    Whoever says Lebron is a better shooter than jordan,don't know basketball!!

    • @themaster804
      @themaster804 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He is, he hits at a higher percentage and has waaaay better range. Jordan isn't hitting the threes Bron is and Bron hits that fadeaway from any angle. You can scour the internet for all the Jordan videos ever and see he never hits the type of shots Bron is consistently hitting. Jordans offense is more comparable to DeMar DeRozan or Joe Johnson type of player.

    • @spyroskaziannis788

      Lebron has improved a lot on terms of shooting. However calling him better than mj in fadeaway shot is probably due to not having watched Jordan playing. You're probably too young. Even Drexler's fadeway is heads and shoulder above Lebron. Plus, Lebron has become a good shooter too late in his carrier. He really can't keep it up on both ends of the flour for some years now.

    Dominique was disrespected in 1996 when he didn't make the top 50 players and he's disrespected today by today's media and youngsters. Dominique was one of the 5-6 greatest scorers the game had seen up until this point! Let that sink in!
    To think that Tracy McGrady, a guy that never even made it out the first round of the playoffs, is more respected than Dominique.
