    Point of clarification; Aretha only had 30 minutes notice about filling in for Pavrotti!

    • @faafafineartist
      @faafafineartist 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yes. She sang it at another event 2-days before (so she was familiar with the song), but on the night she didn't expect to sing it, but when approached, she was literally given 10-mins to get it together, and KILLED IT!!

    • @breonwilson8790
      @breonwilson8790 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      No. She had less than 10 minutes. There are several videos about it from her and the Grammys people. They got the notice about 30 minutes before, but she was asked about 8 minutes before. She then asked to listen to the rehearsal tape, and said, “This is going to be fun” with like 2 minutes before going on stage.

      Exactly! Aretha had just, a few minutes to respond, & throwdown. That's exemplary of an exceptionally diverse, talented pro.👍🏾

    This is the #1 Greatest Grammy Moment I think. It’s been brought up many times given how unique it was, surprised folks were, and how Aretha executed it. She’s a consummate pro and also so assured that she probably didn’t care what folks thought. The Queen knows her capabilities.

      Yeh, there's a reason Faith Hill was crying and Celine Dion looked like a deer in headlights.
      That performance was otherwordly, the way she literally put "Soul" into an Italian Aria is mindblowing.

      @@MuscularDUDE Vocalist suggests one is a technical singer & while Whitney was technical, she wasn't as technical as Aretha Franklin. The woman could walk thru her very deep lower range & right back up to her upper range with ease. Not to mention, they way she could emote a song like nobody's business.

    Is this when she stepped in for Luciano Pavarotti? He got ill. If so I saw it live and remember it vividly. I was yelling, "You better sing, Aretha!" My goodness. I met Aretha Franklin at a rest stop in NJ coming from Atlantic City. I saw her, tapped on her limo door, and got her autograph on the back of a taco bell receipt. She was in the middle of eating it when I interrupted her. RIP Aretha Franklin. I love you 🌹

    2 days? She had to step in, at the very last minute, in less than an hour since she was already scheduled to present or perform. In an hours time? Bananas. She had performed it two days prior which is why she’s familiar with the material, eventhough it was a different conductor and orchestra. Brilliance!

    As i recall Pavarotti had a heart attack 1 or 2 days before Grammys. I vaguely remember that she was asked at the GRAMMYS backstage less than an hour before going on…AND DID NOT KNOW THE LYRICS👈🏽👀
    She will always and forever be THE QUEEN 👑

      She knew the lyrics. She had performed it a few days earlier at another event but had to sing it in the key Luciano, the orchestra and background singers had it set for as there was no time for them to change anything. She simply made it HERS and sang it HER way. Beautifully!

    Jaron, can you react to Evvie? SHE'S AMAZAING. I think there will be quite a lot of things you can point out. She sang in the same show as Vincent, The Four.
    And I just wanna say I always enjoy watching your analysis videos, they're fun and informative. Thank you for making such good videos. ❤❤❤

    Her best version of Nessun Dorma was at Festival of Families. This was a great version, but I like the other one better. I hope you look that one up and let us know what you think of the queen doing her thing.
