The nostalgia hits. I close my eyes and I'm 12 years old again and playing Super Nintendo, staying the night at Grandma's house. What a great time to grow up in!
I know it's not your fault, it's necessary for a speedrun because it saves so much time, but I really hate the Atlas glitch. I wish there was a no-Atlas TAS.
goodolarchie they don't count, do they? i think he means the huge bug, that caught this unlucky alchemist. pretty hard to beat for us kids 20 years ago
The game has evolved so much in almost 20 years. Its crazy to think that i just started speedrunning this game with no prior speedrunning and can beat a tas time.
cause its 6 and a half years later and a lot of new things have been discovered. first but not only example is skipping raptor fight. rta is at 1:30 by now btw
I could never get into this RPG for some reason...the very first time I played this, all those years ago, I found it WAY too difficult and unplayable. I haven't bothered to give it a 2nd chance since, my loss, really. This was interesting to watch though, at least I know how the game plays through now.
It is difficult. I remember grinding a lot in this game. Probably even more than Secret of Mana since you also had to grind money to buy reagents to level your spells in this one.
I remember, back in the day, downloading an emulator playback file for SoE 100%. It was by Saturn, too. And it was something absurd like 6+ hours long, I think? Something ridiculous. I loaded it up and watched the whole thing. Not sure if this is the latest attempt or not, but I'm gonna check and watch whatever version's newest. It's been awhile!
If this game didn't require so much grind, I would have loved to play this. I did beat it, though. In a rental, no less! Apparently, I must have been much more patient as a child than I am now. >_>
One of the best SNES RPG. I try to find some similar mature rpg because that fight system was great, but legend of mana is to much... hmm candy for me. I done that game 3 times totally and always with great pleasure. Secret of evermore, Terranigma and chrono trigger - that my childhood. Any other snes rpg that I should play ?
+jurandfantom Secret of Mana had the same system, and it's actually the second game in a series called Seiken Densetsu. The first game was released as Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy, and I hear there's a remake called Sword of Mana. The third game was never released outside of Japan, and could only be found as a fan translated ROM for an emulator (which, in all honesty, isn't entirely... legal). Those are the only ones that come to my mind at the moment.
+jurandfantom Come to think of it, since Terranigma and Illusion of Gaia were both mentioned already, also check out Soul Blazer. It's the first game in that series.
jurandfantom Hmm... You like action RPGs, eh? Another great one you might want to check out is "Beyond Oasis". It's actually for the Genesis, but you can easily find emulators to play it on your computer. One other action RPG that's very good for SNES is a game called "Shadowrun". Check them out. They're great games!
Most of watching this video consisted of figuring out how and when the player switched from boy to dog, just to try to make sure they didn't have the 2-player cheat.
+teckworks Yea, due to it being a TAS that was made on Snes9x back in 2005. So the audio is on the fault on the age. So I apologize thanks to the older emulator.
Just saw this and thought it was great. 3 things I must know. 1) outside of the market square you were running around in a circle with a spider. Why? And 2) what exactly is happening in the game when you are using the atlas excessive damage glitch? Yes I see that you are getting the power up but how does it stay on for the rest of the game? And 3) why are you hell bent on using that spear? Lol
Jessie Atwood To the market question, secret cache of spice and rice, 99 each. Gotta stand there and let it spin you for like 5 minutes then it sucks you in and shoots you out
What’s happening with the Atlas glitch is that if you save and load with Atlas active, your attack goes back to normal, but you still have Atlas, and when it wears off, your attack decreases from what it was before. Sounds bad, but if you lower your attack enough, it can underflow to the maximum value.
🎶Forever strong, I want to be forever strong. Do you really want to fight forever? forever strong🎵 Nice tas btw, but the sound's meh. Wasn't there a patched version of this rom that fixed the sound?
I dint liked this game as much as SoS because it has no magic (mana) Just find stupid ingredients. It was kinda anoying. Its a great game though, but still. That did botherd me.
Don't let the Evermore will be nevermore forever more.
Man this game was amazing. The music and atmosphere. All the secret hidden stuff. The alchemy system. Man...

Nice TAS. Hope to see more great ones like this in the future! :)
Favorite game as a child right here, even though i never got past the first boss :
The raptors? lol
goodolarchie they don't count, do they? i think he means the huge bug, that caught this unlucky alchemist. pretty hard to beat for us kids 20 years ago
Indeed that's what I meant, Raptors definitely optional to beat but act like a boss. Couldn't kill the huge bug.
understandable. the Bug can be tough if you don't load up on ingredients.

Very nostalgic content.
The rta record is 1:42:35 right now, how is the tas slower?

It's Bill's Fault.
dolly grip? it's bill fault? cryptic messages?
I love this game... !

Kruhl Sentru doesn’t need grinding if you strategize

+jurandfantom illusion of Gaia/illusion of time (the name depends of where you live) although it's not really the same type of RPG

jurandfantom earthbound is a good game kinda hard to find

SoE "100%" desperately needs the BizHawk treatment.
whatsup with the pickup sound (
Man, y'all need to fix those emulator sound issues. It's making this video unbearable to listen to.
+teckworks this ruins the soundtrack so much >.< the sound isn't even balanced as it sounded like on SNES

not your fault, just the software

On 3) spears increase movement speed, so pretty integral to a speed run

-the spider part is a mating ritual. It is a computer fetish.

whats wrong with the sound. It's glitchy :)
聖剣伝説2のマイナーチェンジ版か。4桁のダメージとか面白いな。
Is this on an emulator ?
this game is not sequel of any kind to Secret of Mana. It's not apart of the mana series at all.
True. It might be seen as a spin-off because it uses the same gameplay, ring menus, etc. but it has nothing to do with the Mana series.
*DAT THUMB*
Why are the credits so long? o_O
+Sum2k3 If you sit on the final screen long enough, there are a total of three secrets, and I guess they left it up for all three to show.

Slow down, man! We wanna enjoy the game! What's the rush!?
Its a tas dumbass
if you want to see videos without speed i recommend watching gameplays. this is speedrun ya dummy

Take an English class, hypocrite.
@@bjrntnnesen9207
That's why for videos like this people are supposed to put SPEEDRUN on the TITLE, you floor mat.
@@bjrntnnesen9207
And normal complete game plays are not called "gameplays," they are called LONGPLAYS... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
