@jodie19831 That's what it's all about, Jodie. People can feel so discouraged in a life so expensive. It's nice to see a regular person, doing everyday things, with easy manageable tips. Hi Melanie 🤗 LOL at your lack of freezer space. Seriously - I thought your freezer was a bottomless hole! Amazing 😍 Mmmm I want a poutine. I always reuse my coffee to make 2 cups. Love your NS mug. My Ninja coffeemaker has a strong brew feature that I use for making the second cup. It holds a lot more coffee than a K-cup does - I like a strong coffee and I have big mugs too. The never ending HodgePodge!! Yay! You did so well as usual 🥰
I regularly make snacks for hubby's lunches at work. This week I had frozen butternut pumpkin which was looking sad and lonely. Looking through my cookbooks, I found a recipe for chocolate pumpkin muffins. They're so moist, light and fluffy, and actually taste far better than they sound.
interesting as always Melanie! Thank you for sharing. One of our favourite ways to use lentils is in Shepherds Pie, replacing the ground beef with lentils in a mushroom gravy.
Another great one, never tried lentils , almost 70, about time, lol, might add to my Walmart order. Great produce from the garden, beautiful. Love to see your meals, you’re calming for me. 😂
$.97 for Annie’s Mac and cheese is cheap! We buy 12 pkg at Costco for $19.99 that is a great deal!! Currently canning 75 lbs of tomatoes. $8.88 for 25 lb box so a good deal if one is willing to put in effort!
Lots of great meals this week. I'm just starting to like spaghetti again. I usually throw in some bay leaves with the sauce as it simmers. As you show, you can eat very well on a low budget
@kathryndockrey1477 Yep. The bottom line goal for me is never "see what I can do" it's to motivate the thought.."Hey, that looked pretty easy. I can do that!" and "I thought being a smart shopper was really difficult & time consuming, but I can look in the flyers" or even "We had an unexpected expense this week so let's rely on our pantry for just this week and we can do that!!".
We do not have Keurig in Australia but we do have coffee pod machines. Ours is the Aldi version. Several years ago I bought reusable stainless steel pods and also refill them. We only have 4, you don't need more. I buy my coffee when it is on ridiculous sales too
I found a good sloppy Joe recipe online that calls for lentils. It cooks in the pressure cooker, and I find it makes a good meat free spaghetti sauce as well. Sometimes you have to have a casserole or some pasta. I am in agreement with your husband pasta and tomato sauce is not my favorite, but you have to throw in a meal like that once a month.
@leeanne8651 Ha. I'd eat pasta multiple times weekly if the handsome one liked it. I'm a big fan. So I usually get my fix as a side dish. And he does like white sauce. So that can work for me.
