Ruins like this are so full of emotion. I think of all the time and effort and lives that went into building this amazing place. So much work, so many stories; I wish we could see the past as an overlay!

Looks like a good place to search for gold.
I was thinking those guys that modeled their camping after the 1930's should have been on horses or better yet mules. 🙂 Those buildings were beautiful, most people don't realize the hard work and craftsmanship that goes in to constructing those. I had to reconstruct an old broken down landscaping wall when I was young and that was quite the puzzle.
A stone cabin is the way to go. My dad explored old gold mines in the 60s and 70s and panned out a few nuggets from those old mines. Grave robbers will pay one day for doing this.
I am an explorer, and I am not sure it's good to take away all the risks and protect us from everything probably because I am a risk taker and love it, but I am also willing to take responsibility for my actions and I don't want the government to protect me.
Too many kids today just sit playing video games all day, and many of my friends are dead already from sitting around doing nothing but pushing buttons.

I have seen documentaries on tv about this area many times and it is very beautiful but very desolate as well but I really enjoyed seeing the ghost town of Delmar and hearing about the other people up there and glad that you were there to help them

The summer of 2022 we took vacation to delamar and oh boy it was an experience. We set out tent up in a building that had 4 walls left for a wind break.
The building that has the fire ring in it. So at about midnight, my wife,son and I were woken abruptly. All 6 corners of the tent were being lifted off the ground and slammed back down over and over. It was so violent that we woke up in the middle of the tent. Little to say we left at first light

Those people with a four wheeler their camp really was so cool and what a neat hobby. I haven’t heard of that before. And it is absolutely disgusting that someone were removed grave plaques. LOL about your heavy metal comments about the abandoned cars and a body shop that could fix them up lol.

Another wonderful exploring video. Such history. I think about all lives working beyond exhaustion to build such a place of commerce for the owners. Interesting stuff for sure. You know i used to work in the coal mines here in south east Kentucky, in my younger days. Left here in 1989 to work in a factory and after about 30 years retired and came back here to the mountains. In case you don’t remember, I’m the guy you selected to win a multi tool a few years ago. Reminds me of the mining town of Fairbank, Az. They have made it a learning experience in Southern Az.
I always get excited about ghost towns because one of my hobbies is exploring them so I looked up Delamar Nevada on Wikipedia. Between 1895 and 1900 the population was 3,000 and the buildings included a hospital, so one of those larger ruins more than likely was the hospital❤ Happy & healthy New Year Rick and Linda!

Wow! That's not exactly a place you want to be broke down. Haha footsteps behind me. Ghost! lol. Oh now that's interesting that they camp according to that time period. Bet that wasn't a cheap tow bill. Love the ruins. Wouldn't have to tell me twice to stay away from mines. They scare the crap outta me. Dang that structure is pretty nicely intact. That one isn't like the remains of an old iron furnace, is it? Isn't it neat to imagine what that old hotel would have been like back in its day? Love it. Hey if Linda said charcoal kiln for the top laying on the ground, maybe I wasn't too far off on the iron furnace idea. Love the old cemetery. Looks like there's been a little updating to some of it. Totally not surprised about someone taking stuff off the stones. People can be so .... well as you say.... disgusting. And some will steal anything they can put their dirty mitts on. What a great place to camp and explore. Fun!
In one of the old photos it showed a large area of logs, so I think they made charcoal there for smelting the ore. You might be right about a kiln.

Great video! My husband and I have been to Delamar several times, and camped by the cemetary also. It's a fascinating place! There is another unnamed cemetary in the desert not far from there with old wooden headstones. We have a framed photo on our wall of that building you called the hotel. We love exploring in Nevada!

Another great one Rick and Linda! The new drone footage is gorgeous, and the walkabout was great fun. You probably shouldn't keep any artifacts you find, but this would have probably been a great place to bust out the metal detector just to see what is there. One of my favorite places to use mine is on old wagon trails. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year from Alberta. If you ever do make your way up to Alberta we have lots of great Crown Land camping areas. More mountainous (like west Montana) totally different than the desert but also fun.
Thanks, Mike, we haven't been to Alberta in years. When our daughters were little, we camped on Vancouver Island BC in an old beat up trailer. Went all the way up to Port Hardy and had great fun.
In March of 2020, by myself, GPS took me straight instead of angling left to the cemetery down the main road about 3 miles. It then had me go East about a mile. Then up a rocky ass road twisting with no place to to turn around. But after about 1/2 hour, I finally came into town from the SW side. Then found out the right way to get out. I was getting a little spooked coming in from that trail. But the place is awesome, 3 wild horses seemed to follow me every where I hiked. I believe the building on the far east was the bank vault below the hotel. Never saw a soul. Great place to visit. Always enjoy your videos !
I know of the road that you mentioned and we thought about taking it back out, but it started out pretty rough and we turned back.
My wife and I are in NM, and are biting at the bit to finish our little camp trailer and get out and about! Thanks for all the inspiration!

I’ve been to the Kentucky Derby a few times and the ladies hats are amazing. In talking to some locals at a watering hole they said the women’s hats from long ago were quite heavy. I was wondering in the big round thing could have been the foundation of a long lost women’s KD hat.🤣😆

These remote ghost towns are usually old mining sites. And I’ve always wondered how someone found these spots in the first place to start a mine? I guess just wander around and get lucky! ⚒️
I was told that it starts with panning gold in the valleys and then they start following it up to it's source.

I was born in a small mining town, on the Colorado/Utah border. Wen't back there a couple of years ago and it was gone. Just concrete slabs where houses used to be.😥
A lot of the wood gets taken and re-used elsewhere and sometimes, like in Delamar, fire destroys everything. It sure is fun exploring though.

That had to be at least a $1K towing bill unless the driver somehow felt merciful. Which is a good reason to always carry tools and lots of spare parts. And to be familiar with your machine by doing as much of your service work yourself. Probably one reason you see old vehicles left in the desert -- they couldn't fix it and couldn't afford a tow.
The ghost town was very cool. Don’t have too many places like this on the east coast. Nothing wrong with camping at the cemetery. It isn’t the people laying in the cemetery you have to worry about.
I checked all the radio stations for around 20 miles. Maybe ghost towns 😅😅 there's nothing out there. Calinte. And Alamo. Lol. Really like your video s. I have been to a lot of the places that you have gone in Nevada. Some I haven't. Great video 👍👍👍👍
Right, not much out there but I was checking weather stations in the area.
That road up to Delamar is AWFUL! I swear the rocks look like shark teeth sticking up. I drove just as slowly as you drove, and worried about someone coming the other direction. I was able to camp up at the townsite, and explore. Didn’t see any ghosts during the night, though.

We both carry side arms and walk carefully, always keeping an eye out for snakes. We've only encountered snakes once when I saw one slithering away from me on a path I was on. I turned around and went the other way. ~~Linda

That was so awesome! I would love to fix up that two story house and the triangle building next to it and make it into a barn. I love to visit old grave yards. Interesting to see what it looks like today. I have explored Delamar several times, including the mine shafts, close to 20 years ago. There is another graveyard that's a little hard to find, but the wooden headstones are all unreadable, and one or two stone headstones are also unreadable. That building you call a hotel is actually the old mine headquarters building. Good video.

Fascinating! and, like earndog just noted, evocative for the lives lived and lost. These were some tough people. I often wonder how I'd fare if transported into the middle of it all, 140 years ago. About the only thing I might be able to do to equal the fortitude of the inhabitants then would be perhaps in markmanship. The rest of it? I'm not man enough. Holy smokes... much respect for these pioneers.
Interesting perspective. We've thought about that ourselves and I'm not sure that we would have fared well either, even in our younger days.

WE're planning on going there at the end of February this year. It's always too cold in January and we go there to escape the cold!
Interesting about this place and the history of it. Being so far up the mountain and desolate of a place one has to wonder who these people were actually. How in time nature takes over and windblown weathered this town is where only the stone structures of a few still stand. People buried there all but forgotten about them and their lives a very lonely place to be. Rick the story of the mine you and your friends went down that was interesting. History of the past is very interesting and yet our future will be the same. There will be ghost towns and the generations moving forward will do the same thing you, Linda, and many others are doing. So, 2024 is right around the corner and I know you all will have new adventures along with the history for the future. Everyone who was involved helping that man and his wife out of there kudos to you. Stay safe, warm/cool, and blessings. Happy NewYear.

Water was piped in from a well 12 miles away. Supplies came from Milford, UT which is 150 miles away by mule train.
