The Hyksos brought the composite bow into Egypt and it spread from there as far as I'm concerned. The Assyrians simply recurved the bow more making it a tad faster compared to the angular bow
@abis10 alpha10 it's a Turkish program. At the beginning the Egyptians and most likely other cultures used lighter bows until the composite made it possible to make a more powerful smaller bow. Every culture had heavy draw weights eventually except the Sioux which I am one. We simply had no armour and were on horseback so 40-50 ibs was good enough
@abis10 alpha10 of course. For hornbows draw weight is mostly achieved in the amount of sinew you put on the bow like adding more fibreglass or wood to a bow making it stronger.
@@Daylon91 That also explains how some designs are able to be bent back so far. I've seen examples of Turkish composite bows people have made, that bent back to form a full U shape. It looked as if the bow was made of rubber! First time I saw it, I thought, "There's no way there's wood inside that bow!" But the thick sinew held the entire sandwich together.
Well i just have one thing to say and that is The Skythian "Empire" included many people From Slavs to iranians, Turks and probably others as well. i would assume that most of those people when not all of them called themselves skythian at one point or another but thats just my opinion
Mixed of Uralics, Caucasians, Turkics, Indo-European speaking peoples. It was a confederation. There are genetic results from Scythians from ancient human genomes site. On vahaduo and gedmatch results, some of them are close to Caucasian people, some are European populations, some are Turkics, some are Tajik Iranics and some are to Mordovian Urals etc. You are right
Great but not very accurate, the man is waiting to throw the spear with the wrong spear position possible making him lose a lot of time 😂 Also, quite before bows were invented, men used spear throwers, making the spear reach twice the distance... etc but quite good 👍
I do not understand how one could get the technique of bow-building from the Assyrian reliefs. All I can see is the shape of the bow and it is not recurved. I suspect that the Assyrians used shorter bows to accommodate fighting from chariots and horses.
It is based on the presumption that they were the first to cover their bows with sinews. Because the bows in the drawings are so short that it would make them uneffective otherwise. They arent recurved. The documentary explains recurved bows were invented by Scythians. Scythians used horns in a different way than previous societies. They put them on the back of the bows body. They also made the bow in three parts which allowed them to create the recurved design.
