      Except the group of people that have the power to "get together and vote" are not the general public. It's the Electoral College and Corporations that have the power to make changes, but they refuse because we do not legally require them to benefit the working class majority.
      Technically the Working Class only generates about 50% of what is recorded because half of all working class wages are returned to them in benefits. That makes them supremely worthless as a Key to Ruling.
      Watch the Rules of Ruling Video and educate yourself as to the true depth of fuckery you pretend is sinister but is really just a cash value on a quarterly report.

      not really. It is more like about 90% of the people involved are like him, and 10% of the people are like "holy shit how is the world not exploding? These people are fucking insane and they just make every fucking thing up as they go like the Government is an Improv show full of special needs kids. Holy shit I may kill myself if I don't get drunk right now"
      Complete misrepresentation of reality, is what I am saying.

      THEY WERE SHUTTING DOWN THE GOVERNMENT BECUASE..... they didn't think we have the money to run the government. Or in other words, in order to do the things the other side was wanting, they would had to increase the debt, which the debt is at 20 trillion. so the ONLY way our government is currently running is because we keep borrowing money. If we didn't borrow money then the government would have to shut down. This ad is an insult to the avg. American. It shows what they think we see is going on in the government.

      We had the money to invade two countries. We had the money to pay Cheney's old company Halliburton billions upon billions of dollars to rebuild those countries we invaded. We had the money to issue a tax cut to the wealthy in the middle of those two wars, something that has NEVER been done in our history before. In short- we seem to always have the money under Republican Administrations; why all of a sudden when a Democrat is in office do Republicans get fiscal responsibility religion? It is a cynical ploy to rile up the ignorant, who think that a country that can issue its own currency has to play by the same rules as a family household. News flash- it doesn't work that way.

    • @HerculeseBaby
      @HerculeseBaby 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      J cool Your comment is patently false.
      It is Republicans that have continually over borrowed in the past including Trillions from Social Security for war.
      They continue to vote for annual cost of living increases for themselves yet only Republicans have continued to vote against a minimum wage increase year-after-year.
      It is the GOP (Repubs) that keep voting against the elimination of Congressional Exemptions. These make them exempt to the very laws they pass. You get caught with drugs in your car and it can be seized. Congress- nope
      It is the Republican Congress that shuts down government whenever the Administrative branch (POTUS) has tried to pass restricted funding that would lower the deficit.
      It is Republican State Reps that voted against the free $$ that each state would get with Obamacare - and it is only in those states that have huge Medicaid/Medicare gaps.
      The REASON you may ask???
      Because the current 2 branches of Congress are Republican so they want to obstruct every Democratic attempt that is good for the USA. Then they can point to failures and say it was Dems fault. And people will believe it because they won't look at the Dem attempts or context.
      Example of Zika bill that Dems had to vote down because Republicans refused to pass anything unless it had defunding of Planned Parenthood in it.
      How about we just pass a Zika funding bill?
      Remember that if Repubs could gain power in all 3 branches (they now have 2 - house, senate - and they want admin/POTUS) they would OVERTURN everything they've hated that has passed.
      *Gay marriage - illegal. *Transgender rights - nope. *Abortions even if medically necessary - nowhere to get that done.
      *Minimum wage increase - not yet, were broke.
      *Equal Rights - stop whining about racism, it isn't real.
      *Sexual harassment in the workplace lawsuits - if you didn't like it you should have quit.
      *Federal (not state/local) for automatic weapons and a ban for felons owning a gun - nah everybody can have anything the NRA wants them to have.
      *Guaranteed insurance for contractors no matter previous conditions - nope we only care about insuring Americans when it was a Democrats idea and well just block but not come up with our own.
      *Allowing US citizens to sue other countries - yeah we're gonna allow that because Obama said it was a bad idea, then we're going to freak because it means we could get sued too, then were gonna blame Obama that he didn't inform us enough, then when he shows that he put it in writing were gonna say too much to read
      Look up anything useful the Repubs have tried to pass over the last 10 years.

      To me, they are both wrong for spending money on the B,S. that they do. not all being B.S. But the cost of wars is up to about 7 trillion. Come on. I don't care who it is. Lets stop spending so much money and lower that debt. And yes we can issue our own currency, but that has severe consequences too when done excessively. The fact is we are playing with fire here. Why not just lower that debt.

    They forgot to point out that he would only work a small percentage of the year and give himself a raise.

    • @DerekMoore82
      @DerekMoore82 8 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      ***** Yeah I've always heard it said that they could vote to give themselves raises. After your response I did a bit of research and it turns out it's not entirely the case. Rather they vote to allow an automatic raise to continue year after year ever since an old ethics reform law congress passed back in 1989.
      "In 1989, Congress passed an ethics reform law that included an annual cost of living adjustment. The automatic pay raise was created in exchange for not getting paid for private speeches. The pay raise, based on a formula, is automatic unless Congress took a vote to stop it. The law -- even if it had the best of intentions -- created a system where members of Congress receive raises without having to be on-record voting for them."
      And so it turns out they don't vote to give themselves raises, but rather they voted to give themselves raises once back in 1989 with an automatic increase so they wouldn't have to do the vote every time, it just happens automatically. I guess something like that would have been hard to put into the comedy sketch, but it still would have been funny.

    • @DerekMoore82
      @DerekMoore82 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      ***** Are you talking about the 27th Amendment? That just prohibits members from raising their salaries in the current session, it doesn't say they can't vote for any change in salary whatsoever. So congressional votes on pay increases do not take effect until the next session of Congress. But Congress has a 96% incumbent reelection rate, so despite the freeze on the salary increase during the current session, they know they will benefit at the start of the next session. And then there's that 1989 ethics reform law, so they don't even have to vote to give themselves a raise - they have it set up automatically. However, it sounds like they get most of their earnings in the form of bribes from lobbyists anyways.

    • @TheEpic22
      @TheEpic22 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek Moore. Most congressmen don't take salaries. Most of them are already rich and the salary would just mean more taxes. They do use their power to make more money though.

    • @kamheed
      @kamheed 8 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      I don't think you do know what's going on. If you did, you'd recognize that a combination of massive tax cuts and expensive wars during Bush II meant that an Obama administration inherited a spiraling deficit.
      Obama also inherited the greatest recession since the depression because of the deregulation of the financial sector that the Republicans were also responsible for.
      None of this is disputable. At least not by any rational grown up who would recognize historical facts.
      I don't understand the logic of shutting the government down as a solution to these problems? Dressing that up as some kind of solution is what's insulting to the average American. If you disagree, then please tell me what it managed to accomplish.

      I'm not an expert, but would that not simply put more power in the hands of lobbyists? A new congressman doesn't have the experience in dealing with them, which means you're throwing out the good congressmen with the bad.
      If you want to get rid of a congressman, vote for a different one.

    • @tecwzrd
      @tecwzrd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Lobbyists already have greater sway with members that have been there longer because they know they usually will be reelected and offer greater rewards. By implementing term limits it also limits the sway they have over congress persons because they won't be around as long. Lobbying would still take place but to a lesser degree and more spread out which in turn would help negate the effect and stop the few from having as much power as the many.

      @@RobertMorgan During the Obama Presidency the Republicans shut down the government because they didn't want to fund a bill that 60/100 senators voted for and that was the primary policy that the president ran on before winning the Electoral College and popular vote in a Landslide (that's called a mandate). They refused to even give Merrick Garland (the supreme court nomination of Barack Obama) a hearing. It's not like the Republicans just refused to vote for him (which would be its own problem since he was very moderate), it's that Mitch McConnell unilaterally refused to hold a hearing, or any sort of debate. We'll never know if he would've been voted onto the bench because one man who was elected by a tiny state decided he wouldn't let anyone hear the guy. Let's compare that to the first government shutdown under Trump. Yes, the Democrats shut it down the first time because Donald Trump was trying to screw over DREAMers (something 80% of America didn't want to have happen). The second time the government was shutdown, it was because Trump didn't have the votes to build a wall without holding the budget hostage. Trump was very clear the second time that it was he and senate Republicans who shut down the government. He said it himself. The House voted for a bipartisan bill that would've kept the government open. Trump said no because he was desperate to give his base the wall they wanted. A central policy that the majority of America voted against in 2016 when he narrowly won the electoral college and less votes than his pro immigrant anti wall competitor. Donald Trump has no popular support to stand on. The Democratic Congress has passed plenty of bills that are detailed and full of comprehensive solutions to the problems that face the country. The Senate and Trump won't bring them up for any debate. Comparing the obstruction of the Republican Party during Obama's term to the way the Democrats are acting in congress is ridiculous false equivalency. And just to address the language of your comment directly:
      "A wall, NO! (because a minority of America wants it) I like MY idea. (that a resounding majority of America and both Republicans and Democrats in the House voted for) but fuck your idea because it's yours! (because it's ineffective, and not wanted by America) I'M shutting down the country, for a month, no matter what you offer... I still get paid! (Trump himself said he's the one shutting down the government, also Republicans and Democrats made deals to keep government open. Trump was the only one that refused them)"

      @@samquattrociocchi4427 The point being made is that they BOTH play the game so acting like it's a GOP thing is just being a douche. There are rules that have been agreed upon by both parties so they can each obstruct when needed. Unfortunately, the democrats took the idea of obstruction to a new level and started making shit up to try to overthrow a duly elected president. I would rather they just shut the government down for a month than play their corrupt games.

    • @samquattrociocchi4427

      Mortimer Brewster the idea that there’s an equivalency is absurd and shows how ignorant of reality you are. Make shit up? What exactly is made up? The impeachment is based on stuff he has literally said out loud on record. Also the Democrats are actually legislating and have passed hundreds of bills in the house. Mitch McConnell has not even brought them to a vote in the senate. The republicans in the senate really haven’t done anything with their majority. I wish the democrats would use their power to block stupid legislation more. They literally just gave trump his USMCA deal and have approved judges. How is that obstruction? The republicans never did anything like that for obama.

And THEN they have to prepare for the next school year.

    Fellow millennials conservative or liberals it is time to vote what is best for our country and I know we have major disagreements between the sides however the only way to get Congress to represent the people is to get big money out of the system and currently neither politician running for president will get this done however if we support local politicians be them Republicans or Democrats or a third-party who will not accept private money we will have a much higher chance of getting what the majority of the country wants and it's up to us to shake up the status quo and get involved and vote and drag the politicians who are in our way out of system and to hold them accountable we have tools that previous generations didn't have such as social media , the internet and so on its up to us to get people involved and informed if the mainstream media won't, through helping and supporting good alternative media and becoming involved we can get what we want and make the bought off politicians scared for their job security
