so...yea, I can't get 100 percent behind some of your points in this, but we can agree that A) Janine is awesome B) That ship between Egon and Janine really needed to happen. I kept hoping for it, and it just never seemed to play out.
I actually thought it was better with her having a mild attraction without a full romantic side-story coming from it. It was a refreshingly realistic touch in an otherwise outlandish tale.
Glad to finally see the first one. This episode is a bit rough, but it was the first Familiar Faces, so I didn't expect really anything coated in gold. Still, it's pretty good, and I'm glad someone finally talks about Janine. The Real Ghostbusters came and went before I was born, but watching reruns were, and still are, fun. Janine was a really good character, and was very unappreciated amongst those who watched both the movies and the cartoons. Great review, great humor. Bravo, CR!
Why was there a demon disguised as a fairy godmother in Ghostbusters? At least in Danny Phantom when they had the genie-ghost, they explained she was denied her heart's desire and now roams the earth turning the wishes of others against them. But what's with the fairy? Did she get lost on her way to The Gathering in Gargoyles? Was she trying to circumvent the Barbie fairy movies? Maybe she's pissed Mystery Incorporated never had a "fairy godmother" episode and decided to punish Daphne's parents.
TBH, the first time I heard of Janine was in the ERB S4 rap battle between the Ghostbusters and Mysthbusters. She had a second long appearance ("WE GOT ONE!"), I looked onto the wikia to memorize the lyrics, ended up searching her up and ended up here. ....Again.
actually the change in design for the proton packs in The Extreme Ghostbusters was briefly explained in the 2 part pilot episode when Igon talked about how the equipment needed up be upgraded since it was out of date and couldn't handle battling the newer ghosts which were popping up now
If you ever decide to do a remaster of this episode, it might be worth bringing up Annie Potts other rolls in Corvette Summer alongside Mark Hamill and as Bo Peep in the Toy Story films.

Janine gets alot of attention there, even some staring roles the Halloween special with a reimagined Sam Hain, has her as the star; and the first arc of the second Volume, has her, a slightly reimagined Kylie, and two others taking over for the guys when they disappear thanks to Janoz and "the collectors" aka Reimagined Peoplebusters (including a Winston this time).
Just as a connet on the games...a) The GBA version of Extreme Ghostbusters did come out in the US...I have a copy myself. B) That Ghostbusters video game came out on PC as well. And C) There's a nice easter egg where if you go down in the basement of the garage (on the way to where the ghost holding facility is), there's a worktable that has the gear from both GB and Extreme GB, including the 'puck' ghost trap.
I was watching Ghostbusters Afterlife and decided to watch this again. I mean those two should definitely have gotten together but instead Egon ended up with some mystery woman we never meet and has grandkids. I want to know more about that. That's a story I want to read in the comics or something.

Always thought instead of gender-bending reboots, and new generation sequel cash grabs, a short story format series focusing on Janine would have been an interesting way to go. Makers could include all the girl power they wanted for their political nonsense without diminishing the original characters or disrespecting the fans. (for once) More importantly; it would allow an expansion of the Ghostbuster's universe while adding depth to the old story lines by elaborating on an under-used character in need of better development.
The guy from 6:12 kinda reminds me of the the guy from the Head. Cool retrospective on The Ghostbusters gal friday. I think the current comic from IDW just finished a story arc involving her putting together a group to rescue the guys after they're kidnapped by ghosts or something.
the Ghostbusters did have one good video game made by Hal Laboratories the guys who made Kirby. It's it's a Japanese and pal region exclusive though. the game is called new Ghostbusters 2 it is for the NES but I doubt you're going to see this comment.

God I hated the new voices for Peter and Janine. I'd been such a big fan of the show but that pretty much instantly put me off and I stopped watching it.
well I can see where you are coming from but try to be a little more sensitive to wheelchair bound people and it was most likely to inspire handicapped kids that they can do what everyone else can do too
Janine is hot.............I guess the reason why Janine's hair changed after episodes of Janine you changed I think Janine is slowly changing back to her true normal self which I think takes time etc while Janine's voice is going to be back to normal but it will take sometime and in extreme ghost busters Janine is finally back to her true self finally with her real voice back

I never cared for Janine. I would have preferred her, and especially Slimer, to stay at the firehouse to keep the focus on the Ghostbusters.
By the way, Extreme Ghostbusters was awesome. All they had to do to make a third movie is adapt the show, just replace Egon with Ray.
