- Join us LIVE ⚡️ on Thursday, 6 February (AEDT) for our first interview of the year!
Our founder, Angela, will be joined by the incredible Amanda Cobbett - a textile artist whose embroidered fungi and lichen blur the line between art and nature.
Amanda’s daily walks through the Surrey Hills fuel her stunning creations, where she ‘paints’ with thread and sculpts delicate, life-like forms inspired by the forest floor. From a sell-out stand at the Chelsea Flower Show to a two-year commission for the Duke of Buccleuch, her work is a celebration of nature’s overlooked wonders. As Amanda puts it:
“The forest is a huge, beautiful space. We are naturally inclined to look at the bigger picture, but then we risk missing the tiny details which can be found all around us.”

Lovely contribution to the world of textiles! Great interview, Ang, as always!! 💖 (From cold winter but sunny South Carolina, USA)
A book with images of Amanda´s work as well as images of the creating process would be amazing. I would buy it!
Love the work and the woman behind it, beautiful .
I love Amanda's passion for her work. Soooo inspiring!
Thank you so much for this inspiring conversation. For bringing nature to live in your textile work.
Beautiful work. Fungi and lichen are truly fascinating. I will have to observe moss more carefully too.
Amanda’s work is breathtaking. I too love mosses and lichens - and there is also coral. Hearing about how machine embroidery brings these to life was fascinating. A book by Amanda would be one I’d purchase too!
My sister is a photographer and she is obsessed with this very subject. I am an artist and am trying to find a way to replicate some of her photos in mixed media. To do so in stitch makes me green round the gills with envy! It is such a beautiful micro world to get to know ❤😊
Oh this is so exciting !
