I think in the oldest ways of marrying as catholic in a catholic church was to look serious something like of greiving acts , a tradition I think .So did I too looks serious in my weeding photos. Ive been divorced for 20 yrs , works hard fulltime job but happy with my own life. Growing old and independent of someone to support me etc...

Westerners are so oblivious to the practice of faith based on more than just the Bible. God, the Holy Trinity. The respect for the stillness and silence required to connect with the Lord. The same as any other non Protestant faith based spiritual system. Geeze. Whether depressed or not, her affect in mass was appropriate and normal. Marriage in the Catholic Church is not about joy for the couple, but joy for the Lord’s work manifest in them.

My american mother was a teenager when this wedding took place. As any teenage girl she was enchanted by the royal wedding and the beauty of the bride - although she couldn't quite see the potential in the bridegroom.😄
But the important thing was they lived happily ever after - and they did.❤️
My one friend’s mother from Ireland was a teenager at that time. As per my friend, in that time many girls and young women specially from Ireland were big fan of Grace Kelly, Grace was like an icon/ saint for them. They were crazy for her like ppl were for Princess Dianana in 90s. Many of those girls wanted to follow Grace’s footsteps and become an actress like here.

Her lifestyle in Hollywood was anything but decent. She preferred married men too…..little chance of commitment. She was miserable in her marriage. They both had affairs during their marriage.

Apparently Monaco's coffers were almost empty. They needed a draw, and Rainier needed money. Grace and her family had to come up with $2M in 1956 (about $20M today) for the dowry. If a man you're going to marry asks you and your family for cash, you shouldn't marry him. She's probably thinking that very thing.
They may not have looked the most unhappiest couple getting married but there is no denying the marriage stood the test of time. It was just so sad that Princes Grace died young.

Aristotle Onassis arranged this marriage. Monaco was a poor country and had enormous debt. Onassis pointed out to Rainier that if he married an American actress it would bring much tourism and people to the casinos. Onassis suggested Grace Kelly. I've read Grace's biography, her parents mistreated her and put her down a lot, she ended up in unsatisfactory relationships with older men, Ranier used to put her down a lot, was allegedly having an affair with a priest (closet gay men treat certain women this way, I've been through it) and control her movements, she had to give up acting. She was also a poet, artist and animal lover, and had a unique sense of humour which gave her some consolation.
I could identify with these elements of her life a lot, which is why I love her so much I suppose. I guess you can never erase those moments from your eyes, no matter how you look and dress.
I think she was the loveliest, most unusual woman in film, ever. She had a lot going on beneath that ice princess veil.
In short,she had character.

I was born in 1956 the same year as she got married I still have the VCR tape my sister sent me on that wonderful day plus the day we twins were born . Sadly after 10 year she died of 2nd liver cancer

But I think Prince Rainier did grow to love her. He lived at least another 30 years after his wife's early death in a car accident. As far as I know he never remarried nor had any other lady friend after his wife's passing. Their son Albert is now ruler of Monaco.

Yes, I read a magazine article that the week prior to the wedding was incredibly busy, what with greeting arriving dignataries, writing hundreds of thank-you letters for presents from the public, a garden party for all the citizens of Monaco, the pre-wedding gala, interviews, dress fittings, that Grace described herself as utterly exhausted by the time the wedding arrived.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, for sure, but, I think Princess Grace's dress was probably one of the most beautiful European Royalty wedding dresses ever, but, that's my opinion.
I'm inclined to agree about Diana's wedding dress - it was so overdone, but then again it was the early 80's, the era of shoulder pads and "more is more" so it was right in keeping with the times.

Meggie is not a natural beauty, she has had a nose job, wears fake eye lashes, teeth all capped, hair straightened, not the least bit natural, her sister is gorgeous though.

Monaco was bankrupt when Grace married the prince,and she help him turn around everything ,at the end he couldn’t help but falling in love with her and so everybody else in Europe ,sadly we lost her to young ,she was a beautiful woman and a dignified princess !
