What a tragic day for the Grimaldi family. A tragic day for everyone who loved Grace Kelly / Princess Grace. Besides that it's a beautiful piece of road, very scenic.

A real tragedy, but what's also very freaky is that Grace who was known to not be a very good driver, drove this very same route in her classic movie, "To Catch A Thief"...with her friend the late great Cary Grant. In a scene from that movie, she's doing the driving with Cary in a little sports car and she's driving real fast and he says to her "Where do you think you're going?" and she answers ' To the cemetery"!!!...most people don't know this or remember that eerie scene. FACTS!!

They say it’s scenic, but during this drive I witnessed at times a sense of claustrophobia with the narrow road, then such open curves, on edges of a cliff, that you have to wonder if the designer of this roadway was designing it for humans to drive it, to be able to navigate it safely at all times, or if they only thought of the money they would make supplying it. It has been 35 years since Princess Grace's untimely death at 52. She would have been 88 this year, and still beautiful, I am certain. Ironically, her funeral was the first event Princess Diana went to on her own, representing Queen Elizabeth. Fifteen years later, she, too, died young in a car accident in France, after a very difficult marriage, as Grace often had with Rainier. Yet Rainier loved her, and Diana and Charles were finally friends at the time of her death. The parallels between these two beautiful women who married into royalty are interesting, and sad.
Apparently, Princess Grace had been at Diana and Charles' engagement party at Goldsmith Hall. She noted a very jittery Diana, went up to her and gently asked, "need a moment, Dear?" They went to the powder room, where Diana poured her heart out to Grace. Grace, although a maternal-like presence, told Diana not to worry, "it will only get worse". I remember feeling a chill after reading that.

Wow I didn't know; chilling
May she rest in peace.amen🙏
Someone knows the title of the music that accompanies this video?
Yeah, it's "Too Loud"
the fear of driving off of a cliff is powerful and keeps everyone on the road......what broke that .....seems a bit more to the story.
She had a stroke. Was not feeling well either that morning. High blood pressure. Why did she refuse her driver's offer to drive her? Don't get it.
it's so sad, Grace Kelly's death was fatal misunderstanding of automatic transmission works , everyone believe she was good health and be now 90 years ages!
She had a stroke.
Alcohol kills
It was mentioned Grace was yelling out the brakes are not working.....😮💨
Devil's Curse, what a scary name. I hope they change the name soon...bring safe and luck to whoever on it
I was married the same day as grace we were both beautiful brides I also lived ln the same neiborhood we never met
I Care.
Shame You Never Met The Princess.
Nice memory to have. Grace was elegance personified, astonishingly beautiful, a great woman.
They were such a charismatic good looking couple
I was referring to Jack and jackie
Watt is this beautiful music?
When I visited Monte Carlo many years ago our tour group saw the crypt of Princess Grace.
So dangerous! I know she had a heart attack, but I couldn't drive that. Can you imagine what it look like back then!
M[vid .
Stroke

Great video and drive, but this was not the bend where she crashed. It's one further down. There is a road and houses at the bottom. Very different.
Where is the place she crashed?
Era guapisima, bellezon. D. E. P Grace. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
Rip Grace gone 38 yrs now
In America we were told it was a stroke that caused her to crash
I believe that
Deb there’s also a rumour that it’s her daughter who was driving...maybe she insisted her mother to made her drive.
@@KristinaMay2109 yes, there was confusion as to who was driving
@ Deb,she had sureley no stroke!
@@KristinaMay2109 Stephanie was not driving!
Very dangerous bended road !!! Have to drive very slowly !!!!!
Painful to watch

Just to sad...she was such a beautiful lady for this to happen to her... very very elegent...
Was there a question that her daughter was driving? What year was this I remember it happening but forget the year
There were rumours, yes. Mainly because Stephanie got out via the driver's side window. But she had no choice, since the passenger's side was blocked.
@@FrankJacobsTV yes I can understand that. Awful
@@FrankJacobsTVstill unclear who was driving as Grace is not here to confirm..also, usually the person in the passenger seat does and that would then be Grace..how would Stephanie have survived being in the passenger seat if it was so smashed up?
Miss u❤😔
I remember this altho I was very young. I remember the press being so rude and mean to Stephanie before this even happened. What a terrible thing to go thru. She was so pretty and I respect that her family was more important than selfish fame. I cant imagine driving that road at nite in the rain!
I cried at the end💔
So did I...... 😖
nazanin heydari
Wow that ride was scary. And the roads are so dangerous
Was living in Germany when she died. Remember where I was when news broke. Also remember the winding roads.
Una carretera muy peligrosa sin duda. Guapísima y única Grace Kelly! 😘🙏😜
Are we there yet?
Believe me, for Grace Kelly the ride was far too short.
WHY?????
Year ago she was filming "To Catch a Thief" in tha same spot
Actually the exact location of the accident occured at the next right turn (the one with the bilding rocks on the left) as we can see in many photos. It's the turn with the house below where the car stopped after the fall! Very good video though

Très Triste,J ai toujours EU de la peine 😢😢😢💐
So sad, Grace Kelly wondeful Sweet lady
WAIT A MINUTE! SUCH RICH COUNTRY AND IT HAS THIS STUPID LITTLE ROAD STILL? DAH!
Gejor Dominguez oh my my this is not even the worst!!! It's all narrow roads, bumps, dangerous overhangs and sharp curves! A nightmare
Gejor Dominguez Those roads are French ! Their summer villa is located outside Monaco
Gejor Dominguez guess you’ve never been on MTN roads. What. You want a four lane so you can go sixty mph
I remember this when it happened. Tragic . Beautiful lady. Prince Reiner never got over losing her. At the time it was thought Stephany was driving , she was very young I think 14, but I don’t remember if that was true or not. 😔
She wasn't. She was only 17 and not yet legal to drive in their country. It was speculated she was driving because (after the crash) she had crawled out of the window of the driver's side because it was the only way out.
Stephanie was not driving.
No smoke without fire. I remember the scary roads like it was yesterday
Is it an one way system? You didn't meet a single car coming in the opposite direction
That must be coincidential. It is two way.
Why, Why ,Why, Such VIP ROYAL was behind the wheel on such DANGEROUS ROAD,... SHE SHOULD HAVE A SHAFFER at ALL TIMES.
She usually did, but since the car was full with Stephanie's things, the driver was left behind in their weekend resort.
😢😢 mir fehlen die Worte
Viel zu früh von uns gegangen 😰
It infuriates me that there is no memorial plague for her. She deserves one.
I absolutely agree with you.
So many died on those roads
@@elisabethdakak878 She had a stroke. Was not feeling well either that morning. High blood pressure. Why did she refuse her driver's offer to drive her? Don't get it.
Thank you for your awesome video.. however Princess Grace's accident took place at the last right curve on the D-37, it was too bad Princess Stephanie was in the car, had it been Caroline or Albert who were more experienced drivers they could of steered the car into the Chemin de Baugtugan. instead going off the cliff.
japanjack62 The break wasn’t working
Princess Grace was murdered just like Princess Diana‼️
Disgusting coverups.
@@flo3560 Apparently Princess Grace had a stroke.
If it had been Prince Albert or Princess Caroline they probably would have been driving. Stephanie did not have a drivers license at the time.

I wouldn’t ever want to drive that road. Think of rain, fog, night, oncoming traffic, deer. You could do it a thousand times but it would never be safe. So sad.
Tragedy she had a stroke at the wheel sad ☹️
I think the accident took place at the next right curve. We can see that curve from 14:07 to 14:18. Anyways nice video!
You are correct.
