I miss this kind of music and partying. I use to dance to the mixes on Friday nights in the basement when they were live from Legends. True Detroiters know what I'm talking about.
Detroit in these days you see people coming together for a good time, different styles of dance and dress, very free the djs were creative and highly skilled...Detroit clubs of today take note
When I want to feel like I'm at home I come and listen to this ❤. The dj killed this mix epic brings hella memories I would leave the bball court to go watch the new dance show real talk my mom said when she use to watch it was called the scene facts not up for debate my set is west side about 5 blocks from crunk gym west grand Blvd and I'm standing on that ya heard me... Shout out rj too peace
The Scene was a dance show broadcast from the WGPR TV studios in downtown Detroit---it lasted from 1980-88. I know that only because I grew up outside Detroit and watched it on WGPR Channel 62 at 6:00 p.m. in the afternoons. The New Dance Show was on, I think, from maybe 1989-1994---I'm probably wrong about those particular years, but it was on Channel 62 in the early '90s.
I wish we had this going on now in the city I live in. It makes me emotional how free and joyfully everyone is dancing and how good the music is. It is hard where I live to find places like that very often; usually bland cheesy music and people standing around on the floor in their friend groups being self conscious.
OMG, A friend of mine in L.A. introduced me to this show. He worked in production at the time and would have all the best local dance shows around the country sent to him. I also danced on “The Party Machine” in Los Angeles as well. That lasted just one season, people really weren’t into it I guess.
+Paddy Mac lmao, not the crown air joints......... Everybody had them joints. How bout them Top tens, campaign hat and addidas shirt with the whistle around the neck.....YBI, Pony down, Earl Flynns, Sconi onis, T$tones etc.........word
Detroit JIT capital.......this made me DJ.....those dayyyyyyys gone 😔.....BUTTT...history repeats.....just gonna take someone producing music that make you wan move again....I guess.....imma attempt to do my part lol
Sure thing. .this must be the funkiest tv show EVER..go go,bass and house..i was just a kid when this was airing, but i play it at full volume today..and dance around when doing my house wash. .
This is so good to hear. I am in Passing Time (you can find us on here if you search "Passing Time Alexandrian Solution") and - while not techno - we are/were SO VERY INFLUENCED by this sound. Dj's like Carl Cox, Nik Popa, Scott "GRANDADDY TECHNO" Forbush, Ian Mariano, and Eric Olson did SO much for this sound in Canton, Akron, and Cleveland. We had B.B. Mc Clains and The Church. AMAZING TIMES. Music mattered more than hoes, dollar signs, and the like. This all died when The Spice Girls happened. It all went back to the New Kids On The Block shit that THIS music had just killed. Odd circle of life. ANYONE hearing me?
Can anyone tip me the first track name? I regularly come back to these. Amazing stuff, both the music, and the vibe. I'm dreaming of someday seeing a party like this.
these tunes are totaly legit today. still
💯

8:40 In the 90's you knew your party was banging when Blackula risked daylight to visit.
What is that track!?
😭😭😭
😂😂😂
Not risking his identity and health for a beat 🤣🤣
Thanks for the time stamp.
I remember this guy!
Now that's style.
The Scene and The New Dance Show gave me my whole Life

I would turn this on when I got home from school
Love The Mix On This Show
I seriously think a show like this today would work. if I had the money I'd bring it back and with all the same music. It's so cool.
I honestly don't think it would work. The art of dance has been lost nowadays and it's considered "weak" for a man to ask a woman to dance.
Maybe your right, guess it would appeal to only a small audience.
Beat Therapy boiler room TV is the closest thing you'll get to this
The music that they have out nowadays is not conducive to dancing!
Can you imagine a Jessie the Body Trap Music Mix?
It would have the same energy since most people would be focusing on getting a good snap for their IG instead of really going wild.
Wish this had a playlist.
the way this music stands strong today is a testament to it’s magic. seeing people let loose like this is so beautiful 🥹
I loved this Show and i loved working there.
Cool! What was you job there?
It’s time for the percolator grew up watching this after school
I remember recording mixes every Saturday and Fridays to play in the whip😂😂😂107.5 WGPR Detroit
This is everything and everyone.
Love

Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
10th grade memories on Saturday afternoons!
And try to watch now some 'Boiler Room' dj set with creative djs on front and .... most bored crowd in the world.
It’s because the dancers are the stars on this show. Not the DJ. Hence why we don’t even see/know who the DJ.
The Ladies Looked soooooooooooooooooooooo Lovely:)))!!!
This is the BOMB
