Great vid! Nice to see the younger generation still love Indy and the fedora! I used to have a Peters Bros Indy fedora and I loved it to bits. Don't have it any longer sadly - long story, but I would love to have another one. Peters Bros are excellent!
"a long time ago when I was a kid" son I have fedoras and leather jackets that are a lot older than you! LOL! thanks for the video it has helped an "old" Indiana fan like me know what hat to buy next. by the way it looks good on you.......
Right on! I think you'll really like your peter bros head piece! They're super tough and they just look better and better the more you wear it. Be sure to put up a vid of your hat, I'd love to see it -Kirk
Nothing wrong with that, I loved my official Indy hat for many years. I've also reshaped a few of them with steam to put more of a "Raider's Pinch" in the front. So if you wanted to pimp your hat out to make it more accurate, you could give it a raider's pinch, maybe change the ribbon, and then just wear it a lot and get it dirty :)
Good question! I do wear it in the summer and inevitably sweat in it. As for comfort in the summer, whenever I'm not wearing it, I have it on a hat jack. I make sure to clean the sweat off sweat band on the inside (so as to not shrink it) and also, my head expands in the heat of summer (in the way rings get tighter on your fingers in the heat) so I stretch it a little to still have that perfect fit.
Along with Peter Brothers, David Garrison (Garrison Hatters) makes incredible fedoras as well. I got my 'Raider' hat in rabbit felt from him a while ago, and I'm SO glad I decided to get one. It took about twelve weeks for mine also. Yours looks great too! The one in my picture to the left is from Todd's, but it doesn't fit.
+Trent Ryan Thank you, brother! Four years later, after many, many adventures in different countries and weather, this fedora is doing well. Still in perfect condition. I'll have to check out Garrison Hatters for sure! Which one from Todd's? I got my best friend the limited Coyle Raiders but am thinking adding a Downtowner to my collection
awesome man! I actually had never heard of Garrison Hatters before but I just went to their website and they look great! Be sure to post a review vid so I can check your's out when it comes
Thanks for the video. I didn't even know about Peters Bros. and I've been an Indy gear-head for about 5 years. I just ordered one. Its a LC with a Raiders bash. I think the shape of the LC fits my head better, but I love that old Raiders pinch. Its soft rabbit mix. I have an old AB Raiders in beaver and an old AB in rabbit and I really like the flexibility of rabbit. BTW, wait time is now 6 months!
Thanks! I'm 20 and I've been done growing for a while. I do have a hat-jack though to keep it my size cause sometimes if it's really hot (and dry like here in Colorado) it shrinks a little.
Thanks for the answer :) now I few more because I have similar looking rabbit felt brown hat... what are your solutions for windy day ? I guess best way is to staple it to your head lol x) also have you heard of any felt had accesories that would maintain hat's smooth surface ?
I have to say it seems like a decent hat. I would have to see the stitching on it before making decision owning one. I own two penmans an adventurebilt deluxe and a Todd's I guess I have a fedora fetish lol))
Yeah man, I've had it for 9-ish months and it looks better and better the more I wear it. The brim has a lot more charater now (like in Raiders.) I have the todd's costumes movie dirt and so, every now and then I make it look all dirty and then for suit wearing occasions, I'll clean it up again. I did manage to pop the ribbon stitching on it but I was able to fix it but, I am now thinking about replacing the ribbon with Todd's ribbon
Cool video, I think your hat looks great. And you're a young guy too. Great to see more younger guys liking this type of hat. Please don't take this the wrong way but I reckon you need to loosen it up a bit, try working it a bit every day. Then add some "fullers earth" - if you don't want to, you don't have to ..just keep wearing it and do a vid in a year so we can see its natural progression. Have a look at my Indiana jones vid too. Would love some feedback.
@Danny121208 Both are awesome. My bud had a Todd's Jacket and it's a perfect replica. But Wested made the jackets for raiders and I thought it was cool having a Jacket made by Peter Botwright so that is why I went with the Wested. If you are okay spending a little more then go with Wested Leather but otherwise, if you wanna save a little money go for Todd's. But I should just do a video on my indy gear... thanks for sparking the idea danny :)
What about your jacket man i wanna hear about that lol...I'm torn between the Wested Leather jacket or the todds costume coyles jacket..cant find a video comparing them...
yeah, those one are shapeable with a good about of steam and working with it. the crown height is a lot shorter than some of the more film accurate ones. Id say somewhere around 4 inches tell. (I'm sorry, I can't get an exact measurement for you right now)
Great looking Hat... I'm in the process of purchasing a Fedora style Hat. Indy style, or 1930's Appalachian Prohibition Officer look... There are so many out there its hard to decide. Especially when on a tight budget... Was the first Indy style hat that you owned Shapeable and hold its shape good? I'd like purchase one like that, but with a little bit shorter top.. What is the height of your first Indy Hat? Sorry for so many questions, Hope you have time for a reply.. Thx
haha. yeah, looks like I could be hiding some crazy hair underneath but I was just wearing it high on my head to show my face better in the vid. the front crown measurements are the same as in Raiders though
If it's a TRUE Indy hat, you could wear it in a tornado and it won't come off your head. haha Yeah, just a good fit and pulling it down as much as you can if it's that windy. and to keep the felt soft, any good hat shop will have stiff and soft hat brushes. the soft ones are great. John Penman (of Penman Hat Co.) has a great video on how to brush an Indiana Jones hat, if you want to check that out. Hope that helps, and feel free to shoot me any more questions about any Indy Gear or vendors :)
@Warlord2029 Haha. Nothing wrong with that :) I would love to have a collection of all of the fedoras from the main vendors out there. I can send you some up close pics of the ribbon and stuff if you want, if it would help in your decision-making-process.
@Danny121208 Yeah dude, I'll get on it. I'll be sure to "script" it out better than this one too, so I don't end up saying "excited" a million times or repeat myself. haha

Whow, looks the biz buddy, very authentic looking
cool. I've got a beaver felt raider coming. Should be here next week.
I love the hat.
A bunch of my friends have penman hats. They are awesome for sure
Thanks! I'm 20 and I've been done growing for a while. I do have a hat-jack though to keep it my size cause sometimes if it's really hot (and dry like here in Colorado) it shrinks a little.
it fits awesomely. It was a custom hat so they made it to my specifications and measurements. And the more I wear it, the more it conforms to my head
Very nice review! Thank you for posting it.
AWESOME HAT!
Como faço pra conseguir um chapéu desse? Aqui no Brasil não existe um assim idêntico ao do Indiana Jones.

Absolutely! I made this video to showcase PB's amazing work so have at it!
thanks! and thanks for the comment! I love it too

Now you have a hat so I guess your next mission should be more often travels or atleast more often going out of your comfort zone ? :)

Got to the Penman hats site to see a really good indy hat.
Exciting!

Do you wear it at summer ? if so would you give any advise how to wear it at such time for comfort, less sweat ?
Just ordered my Indiana Jones hat today
@Danny121208

how good does it fit

Mine is the Downtowner...the only one they have available right now. Again, it doesn't fit me so I hardly touch it. Lol. Maybe I should sell it.

I got my hat from penman hat company and I love it!
I want that exact hat. Can you let me know the specs on what you got ,how much,ECT.
haha. yeah, looks like I could be hiding some crazy hair underneath but I was just wearing it high on my head to show my face better in the vid. the front crown measurements are the same as in Raiders though
Nice hat.
@KirkBrackmannTime No problem. I'd love to see it. Just make sure it's a semi in-depth review hehe..And thanks to you for responding :)
NICE LID. I have a Garrison on the way. Are you on COW?

I would love to have a collection of all of the fedoras from the main vendors out there.
