- A very sunny day in September, I decided to take a stroll through Manhattan. I was wearing one of my favorite hats. I thought it would be a good opportunity to also get a winter hat cleaned and blocked.
So off to JJ Hat Center (www.jjhatcenter.com)!!!

“Just Kids” is a memoir by Patti Smith, published on January 19, 2010, documenting her relationship with artist Robert Mapplethorpe. Whilst they were living at the Chelsea Hotel (I seem to recall) she went to the JJ Hat Center to purchase a hat for him as a birthday gift.
JJ Hat Center is featured in one of the early episodes of “Blacklist” showing James Spader's character buying a hat there from Roderick (one of the great assistants at the store - not sure if he’s still there).
Marc Williamson is a great guy. He has now established his own hat store FlameKeepers Hat Club, 273 West 121st Street, New York, NY 10027.
When I'm in NYC it's just as important as a destination as the Guggenheim etc.

Living in Queens- Manhattan is not a regular run for me but today I decided to make a field trip to JJ Hat to use a gift card I received last Christmas from my sister a Manhattan Commuter. I didn't know what great a gift it was until viewing this video! Informative, Great Selections. Beautiful Host. Quality product. I walked into this shop about a year ago and I was looking to purchase a newsboy type cap But a older hispanic gentlemen who was helping me was down right rude and impatient almost to the point of mean. I really dont know how I kept from telling him off or complaining to his manager but I just wanted to leave and tell as many people in the street walking by the shop never to buy from this shop. It's real pity because They have beautiful elegant hats

The straw hat worn in Colombia is called a Vueltiao,they are hand woven and a Beautiful hat,great to wear in the heat. If you buy one made by a master Weaver you can get your Hat fold it up into a small ball and put in your pants pocket take the hat out later some time and you won't believe it opens up right back into it's original shape,Amazing.A great summer hat.😀

I got super service by Peter (Rod Springer, called Peter).
I bought the finest Borsalino hat ever and I would sincerely recommend this shop to everyone visiting NY!

first of all.. In a shop you are not requred to take off your hat since you are not there to stay longer than your earrend. second of all This is report about hats so of course they can wear the hats. Please don´t just say the only thing you know about hats as if you know alot
@@rikardlinden6800 That is correct - other hat rules about indoor wearing is that you take off your hat when in a "private space" - like a home or if you are in a place where you are required to spend dollars to stay - like a restaurant or a show/movie. This particular situation would not apply to removing your hat - especially given that it is a promotional video to spotlight the hat store/service
You’re in a hat store. They all should be wearing hats. Showing off and modeling them is what the business is all about. If you’re serious about purchasing a nice quality hat you want to see how it looks. It’s all about the ambience of the shop and experience.
